One year on the space whale with the person Keith still can't manage to call his mom, Keith receives an unexpected visitor— Shiro, from the before the Kerberos Mission. Or: Keith processes his feelings on his parents, his feelings for Shiro, and his fears about the future.

I'm not aware of one with this exact premise. Anyone have one to recommend?

Keith has long been a romantic, drawn to grand stories of dramatic love thanks to his favorite book Across the Rift, but much to his disappointment, the author never wrote another book. At least, not under the same name. When Keith jumps in to rescue a stranger from an unpleasant public argument with an ex-boyfriend, he ends up meeting the man of his dreams—who may have given him those dreams to begin with.

Two glassy blue eyes look down at Shiro from the bed of the pickup truck. The dog is huge, white and dove gray markings reminiscent of a wolf, and a thick coat built for the winter to come. Shiro blinks up at the dog, and the dog looks back. He can’t resist: “Hello there,” Shiro says, friendly. * Shiro begins a new career in the sprawling Alaskan wilderness. He expects to fly. He doesn't expect to fall in love.

Shiro and Keith end up on a mission to attend an annual celebration on an alien planet in order to build cultural ties. The only problem is, no one mentioned that they’re not meant to just be attending—they’re meant to be participating. And the celebration? Is a giant wedding.

Dealing with spirits wasn't something new to Hunk. It was his job after all. He might not like it so much sometimes (ok, a lot of times), but he was used to it. However, this case was different from all others before. There was something off with the fire that destroyed that old asylum. Who started it? Why? Who was the spirit that stayed behind? Putting this out there in case anyone else does

Pebbles sprout up between Shiro's fingers. It feels as though the dirt stretches on and on forever under his hands. Pidge heeds Lance's command, and soon she, Hunk, and Shiro are all on their knees, scratching and cutting at the earth, searching for a flash of color amidst the cool rocks and soil. “It's an impermote,” Allura explains as they dig. “A microscopic parasite that feeds on emotion. It's using Keith's memories to illicit a more powerful emotional response.” “And doesn't he hate it!” Keith says. “His anger tastes delicious.”

Shiro's a little obsessed with asking Keith how it feels whenever they have sex. Turns out it's not just checking in and more curiosity, though. When Shiro reveals he's never actually bottomed before, Keith's determined to change that right then and there.

Shiro materialises. In his arms. “What just - what - Shiro! Are you okay? What just happened?” “I… I don’t know,” Shiro admits, glancing around the steps dumbfounded. A soft smile nestles in the corner of his mouth as their eyes meet. “But it’s a good thing you were here to catch me.” Lips twitching, Keith’s gaze softens. “I’ll always be there to catch you,” and he says it like it’s the easiest promise to make, the most natural of affirmations. Because it is. It’s not until they get to the bottom of the steps that Keith sets Shiro down.
