He grabbed Liam by the collar of his shirt and pulled as hard as he could. Their lips collided in a kiss, longing and scared. Scared that there's not enough time, that it might be too late...

Their faces were so close now: Liam could feel Shay's shallow warm breath on his lips; Shay could see Liam's surprised eyes.

"All these years I was thinking about the things I've done," Shay was still holding Liam's collar in his weakened fingers. "And I regretted only one... I've never said that I loved you."

Liam's eyes widened.

"Every time I was hunting assassins, I prayed that you wouldn't be the target of my blade. So far, your destiny protected you, shielded you from me. And now, we've come to the bitter end," Shay smiled, but his eyes were sad.

In honor of Black Flag Resynced and also that one ancient fan theory where Anne Bonny is Shay Cormac's mother because her maiden name was also "Cormac" and they're both Irish, I would today like to propose my own theory. Which is that Shay IS the biological son of Anne Bonny AND Mary Read. This theory explains why he is so lesbian-coded despite not having a vagina. He is actually lesbian by birth.
