can you do casey jones rottmnt enemies to lovers headcanons?
Rottmnt Headcanons - Enemies to Lovers
[this takes place during the apocalypse bc i said so đ tw for minor injuries and mentions of death]
Casey Jones Jr
Caseyâs distaste for you developed from pure jealousy. you were the better fighter, you were allowed to go on solo missions, and you still had your parents. he was so jealous of you that his jealousy eventually turned into hateÂ
Everything about you pissed him off. your stunning smile, your adorable laugh, the way you could easily take out any opponent - including the krangÂ
Whenever he was mad at you - which happened a lot - he was quick to yell or say something rude. but the most infuriating part? it never seemed to bother you
Leo tried his best to make you get along. he paired you up as patrol partners, made you train together, even run supply missions side by side. but that only made casey hate you more. in his mind, the only reason he was paired up with you was bc leo didnât trust him to do it himselfÂ
It was supposed to be a routine supply run. quick and easy. but in times like these, nothing was ever âquick and easyâ the krang attacked without warning. you were left frozen as they tore through the caravan, destroying everything in sight - including your parents
Against his better judgment, casey grabbed your arm and pulled you to safety. the screams of the less fortunate filled the air as you stopped underneath a hidden overpass, away from the destructionÂ
You immediately start to cry. you couldnât help it. in less than a minute, your entire family was ripped away from you. everyone you ever loved was goneÂ
Casey tensed up when you started crying, confused and.. strangely concerned..? he had never seen you cry before, not even when you dislocated your shoulder during training. and for some reason.. he hated seeing you cry. so he bent down and hugged you, murmuring soft reassurances as he held you close
When you eventually stopped crying, cj leaned back and started to gingerly tend to a cut on your cheek, his nose scrunched up in concentration. even little cuts could lead to infection, especially during times like theseÂ
âYou didnât have to do that..â you whisper sullenly as casey applies a bandaid to your cheek âwell i know what itâs like to lose someoneâ he murmurs softly before finishing up and patting you on your shoulder âletâs get back to base, okay?â he stood up and before you even really knew what you were doing, you grabbed his hand and pulled him back down for a quick kissÂ
You both turned bright red. you instantly shoved him away from you, standing up and crossing your arms against your chest âthat doesnât mean i like you or anythingâ you mutter stubbornly before storming off, leaving casey behind with a love sick smile plastered across his face
Shane has been sitting on the couch in the family room, staring into space, for over an hour. Ilya, at first, tries to leave him be, but then he becomes increasingly concerned.
After ten more minutes, Ilya finally allows himself to approach.
âShane?â Ilya says lightly.
Shane just hmms back in acknowledgment, but he doesnât turn his head or make eye contact. His gaze stays fixed entirely on the black tv screen in front of him.
Ilya takes this as Shane not having an emergency needing medical attention, so he backs off, moving to the love seat on the other side of the room. He wants to stay close in case Shane needs him, but still give him his space.
So Ilya sits. And he plays Candy Crush on his phone. And he taps his foot. And eventually he starts pacing around the house, counting five hundred steps before he allows himself to go back and check on Shane. Every time he finds him in the same state.
Twenty minutes later, heâs calling Yuna in a panic.
âIlya, honey. Iâm sure heâs fine. What was he doing before this?â
âHe just got back from media day. Photos, interviews, a few TikToks. He didnât even have practice.â
Yuna laughs, and Ilya immediately furrows his brow in annoyance. He doesnât like that Shaneâs mother isnât taking this seriously. âThatâll do it! Shane just needs a minute to decompress. Leave him be.â
Ilya wanders deeper into the house, making sure Shane canât overhear the conversation. He whisper-yells anyways. âBut, heâs been in this ⌠stupor! for almost 2 hours.â
Yuna laughs again, and Ilya does not like that sheâs laughing at his concern for her son. âIlya. He is fine. He gets like this sometimes because of his autism.â
*****
Ilya does know what autism is. There was a kid at camp this past summer, Harlow, who had autism. Ilya read up about it a bit at the time, and read through the camp intake forms from Harlowâs psychologist with his plan of action.
Ilya spent a lot of time with him at camp, sometimes practicing away from the other players to give Harlow some space. The other counsellors praised him for how naturally good Ilya was with him, especially considering he had no experience.
But Shane? Shane didnât have autism. Did he?
But then. Then, Ilya is thinking about it.
Suddenly Ilya is remembering the reading he did on autism in the summer. And then heâs thinking about Shane.
Trouble making eye contact? Yeah, sometimes Shane avoids looking at him, and Ilya has to guide Shaneâs eyes to his by grabbing his chin. But that didnât mean anything?
Hyperfixations? Yes, Shane loved hockey. But doesnât every NHL player love hockey? Maybe not to the extent of Shane, with his savant-like memory of stats and past players. But Shane was just smart?
Trouble reading cues in social situations? Yeah, sometimes Ilya had to ask Shane a question a few times before he understood what he meant. Or avoid using sarcasm. He generally tried to keep his words direct and to the point with Shane, which was natural for Ilya who didnât always know the english words for things. But that didnât mean Shane had autism?
But when Yuna says it, everything clicks for Ilya. Itâs like heâs unlocked a closet of flashbacks in his head, and all of the memories are coming out dressed differently.
Shane has ⌠autism?
*****
After wrapping his head around that, he asks Yuna some more questions about what he can do to support Shane when heâs like this.
His mom basically says to leave him and let him come out of it on his own, but of course Ilya is too stubborn and too much of a caretaker for that. So he takes whatever advice Yuna could give him and sets off to the family room.
First, he turns off the overhead lights in the room, and opens the curtains just a bit to let in some natural light. Then he gets to work in the kitchen, preparing Shane a snack (ants on a log) and filling up his water bottle. He had to hunt around the house for Shaneâs bottle, because he only likes to drink out of this one brand (god he canât believe he didnât realize his boyfriend had autism).
Finally, he sets a blanket and Shaneâs headphones in reach, in case heâd prefer them.
Then Ilya parks himself back on the love seat, book in hand. He plans to stay nearby Shane in case he needs him.
Ilya gets really enthralled by his book, and is able to disengage from his worry for a while. He doesnât know how long itâs been when he finally hears Shaneâs voice.
âIlya?â he sounds raspy, like he just woke up from a nap.
Ilya gets up immediately, blanket falling on the floor. He walks over to Shane, who has his arms extended out to embrace him.
Ilya, of course, goes willingly into Shaneâs arms as the other man tugs him into his lap. Ilya rests one knee on the outside of each of Shaneâs, and lets himself be pulled into his chest.
Shane holds him tightly, so Ilya mimics the gesture and wraps his arms firmly around Shaneâs back and shoulders.
Shane presses a kiss and then a bite into Ilyaâs shoulder, holding it for a moment. Itâs not terribly hard, but it probably still leaves a bit of a mark after he removes his teeth from his skin a moment later.
Shane seems more alert now, so Ilya decides to start to talk, just a little.
âBetter?â Ilya asks softly.
Shane nods into his shoulder. âYeah, sorry. Havenât gotten like that in a while.â
Ilya holds him silently a while longer before speaking again, working up the courage. âYour mom said you get like this because of your autism, yes?â
He feels Shane stiffen in his arms a bit, but doesnât let go. All he gets in response is a small nod that he feels more than sees.
âWhy did you not tell me you had autism?â
Shane shrugs. âItâs not something I advertise. Nobody in the NHL knows. I couldnât exactly tell my arch rival,â Shane puts on a light teasing tone by the end, but Ilya can see right through it.
âWell sure, but we have been boyfriends for over a year now.â
Shane squirms in his hold, but doesnât say anything.
âYou know I do not care, right? Youâre still My Shane no matter what,â Ilya reassures.
Shane sighs. âI know you donât care. I thought about telling you when we had Harlow at camp this summer, but how was I supposed to say it? âHey, I have that too!ââ
âWell ⌠yes?â
Shane pulls away from Ilyaâs embrace so he can frown at him.
âIt just got out of hand. The longer I put it off, the weirder it felt to mention it. Iâm so used to not sharing the diagnosis with people because I donât want them to treat me differently. Or make it seem like Iâm a worse hockey player because of it.â
Shane had frustrated tears on his lower lash line now that Ilya wiped away. âI get why you do not tell everyone. But I love you and I want to know so I can support you and not make it worse.â
âYou donât!â Shane is adamant. âYou, like, know me really well.â Shane tucks his face back into the side of Ilyaâs neck. âCan we please stop talking about this now? Iâm fine. Thank you for the water and the snack.â
Ilya smirks and rolls them over so Shane is underneath him, Ilya still straddling his hips.
âYes, we can stop talking about it.â He presses a kiss into Shaneâs neck, sucking a little. âFor now. We are not done on this subject.â
Shane rolls his eyes but agrees.
âGood, now eat your ants on a log.â
*****
Later, in bed, Ilya is asking an unwilling Shane every single question thatâs come to his head since his phone call with Yuna earlier.
âIs that why we have to eat the same meal at least two nights in a row?â âProbably, yeah.â
âIs that why you have earplugs you sometimes wear on the bench between shifts?â Shane nods.
âIs that why sometimes you wonât look at me when Iâm sucking your dick?â
Shane turns bright red. âI donât know Ilya! Maybe! Please can we stopââ
Ilya interrupts: âIs that why in every single one of your baby photos you are wearing a t-shirt with a hockey stick on it?â
Raph had a pretty strict routine for himself. He could get pretty moody if he didn't get enough sleep.
You often stayed in the lair, it wasn't a surprise to anyone if you chose to stay the night.
Where you would sleep was always different. Sometimes, you'd be on the couch. Other times you would join the brothers in their Turtle Pileâ˘.
But if you were to pick a room to sleep in, it would almost always be Raph's.
His room was the biggest, it had the biggest bed. He was the big brother after all.
Raph would always flush red whenever you'd tell him that you wanted to bunk with him.
âReally? Me? Ya don't wanna go sleep with Mikey or something?
You shake your head. You insist that you want to stay with the snapper.
âO-oh! Yeah. You can..stay with me then!
His tail was practically wagging. Out of everyone, you chose him. He was ecstatic.
You both made your way to Raph's room. It was a familiar place for you both.
Raph's room was strangely organised. Hand wrappings neatly folded at his bedside. His bed was made crudely but it was still neat. Soft plushies sat on his bed, along with many blankets and throws.
His room didn't have an awful lot in it, but it still screamed Raph.
Raph sat on his bed, twiddling his thumbs as if he hadn't cuddled up to you on several different occasions.
You rolled your eyes, shooing him over to make space so that you could lie down.
Raph was always cautious whenever he was close to you. With his brothers, he had less fear, they were tougher than you were. They could move around him without even looking.
You were soft and squishy, everything Raph wasn't.
âYou're thinking too hard, Raph. Just relax.â
He did relax. Slowly. Very slowly. Deep down, he was still scared that he'd squash you. But your confidence gave him confidence in himself.
You both got comfy. Talking about random things, what you had been doing that day, how your family was. Small things.
The conversation slowly dwindled. You were both just mumbling words to each other.
Sleep came quickly. You were sprawled out on Raph's bed, an arm laying across his plastron. Your legs tangled together.
Leonardo
You two had been up for hours. Watching Jupiter Jim, even reading the comics together.
It was late. Really late. Leo didn't seem tired at all, you however, were having trouble keeping your eyes open.
Eventually, you both retreated into Leo's room after Splinter had woken up and scolded you both.
âGet to bed you defiant teens! Or I will take away your games..â
That was more of a threat to Leo than it was to you, but you both scurried away anyway.
Leo's room was warm and comforting. Posters hung on the walls, fairy lights dangled from the ceiling. It was the perfect place to sleep.
Leo guided you to his bed, letting you lie down first like the gentleman he is.
âYou get comfyâ! I've gotta..get something real quick!â
Leo hurried away. Leaving you to get settled. You took this opportunity to look around his room. It was entirely Leo. It was a mess, but an organised one.
Random weapons were strewn across the room, candy wrappers on the floor. Comic books stacked in different places.
Your observing was cut short and Leo skidded back into the room. He had two mugs in his hands. Hot milk.
âHere. JustâŚit helps me sleep. I thought you'd like it too?â
Leo scooted into his bed beside you, careful not to spill either mug. He huffed in content.
You both sipped quietly. Then a little louder. Then even louder. Till you were both giggling beside each other, mugs discarded.
The room was quiet, but a good quiet. It was light. Nothing loomed, nobody disturbed you two.
Your eyes started to close. Leo's weren't far behind. Your breathing followed Leo's.
The room was filled with your soft snores. You were content. Safe with Leo. Sleep had never come easier.
Leo wasn't far behind, his own eyes starting to close as he shifted closer to you.
He fell asleep right next to you. His right arm caught in your grip.
For Leo, this was the quickest he had fallen asleep in a long time.
Donatello
It was rare that you would get the opportunity to fall asleep with Donnie. He'd usually be too busy, cooped up in his lab.
Although, sometimes if you try hard enough. You're able to drag him out of his lab.
He protests loudly. Legs and arms flailing to get back to his work.
Realistically, he could escape from your grip easily if he wanted to. But he finds your insistence and determination amusing. So he lets himself be dragged.
âI'm missing out on valuable research time because YOU want to cuddle! Scoff. Don't you want to see what I've been working on?â
You ignore him and he grumbles. He still doesn't fight your pulling.
Eventually after a short while of pulling and complaining, you reach Donnie's room. You practically kick the door open, shoving Donnie inside.
âCongrats. You got us both here. Now what?â
You roll your eyes and shove Donnie onto his bed, he flops down without complaint.
He makes room for you, scooting over slightly. He doesn't nuzzle in close, nor does he pull you to him. You both lie there, barely touching.
Donnie's room is like Raph's, it's an organised mess. Although slightly more organised than the snappers.
It smells clean in Donnie's room. Clean linen and sanitiser fills the room.
It's not hard to get comfy in Donnie's room.
âYou are a leech. You take away my science time. You take up all the space in my bed. Youâ"
His complaints are futile. You're already fast asleep, curled up next to Donnie.
He goes quiet. Pulling a blanket over your body. Making sure you get a proper sleep.
âI guess it's okay. Only for you.â
Michelangelo
Mikey was the one who'd invite you to take a nap with him. It was nothing out of the ordinary.
He'd always be near you. A hand on your shoulder, holding your hand, tickling your side as he walked past. Affection was just how you two thrived. Cuddling while napping was no different.
He eagerly pushed you towards his room.
âCmon! Cmon! I got this new blanket and it is AWESOME, baby! We gotta test it out together!!â
You had your own spot on Mikey's bed, many of your things had found refuge in his bedroom as well.
Shared hoodies lay on the floor, plushies sat on his bed. A hairbrush was on his desk where he kept his art supplies. It was as much your room as it was his.
You took your spot on his bed. Mikey fetched the blanket and lay down next to you.
The room was filled with your giggles as Mikey spread the blanket over the bed, covering you both from head to toe.
Mikey pokes his head out, you do the same. He laughs at your dishevelled hair.
His arms move, one wriggling under your back and the other laying across your chest. He pulls you close. You practically melt in his hold.
You chat about your day, Mikey tells you about his most recent mission with his brothers and April.
âAnd then Raph went âBOOM! POW!â it was SO awesome!!â
He was so caught up in his storytelling that he didn't notice that you had fallen asleep, not until your forehead pressed against his plastron.
He smiled sweetly at you, taking that as his cue to settle into dreamland, just like you.
"Nighty night. Nothin' will get you while I'm here."
April O'Neil
You had been relaxing in April's room since she had gone out with the turtles for a mission, you weren't worried. April could handle herself.
Suddenly, the door swung open. There was April. Covered inâŚgloop? She didn't look happy about it.
She was grumbling to herself. Something about turtles and yokai.
âDidn't go well then? AtleastâŚyou're all in one piece?â
April huffed. She couldn't get mad at you, you had done nothing wrong. She'd throttle the turtles later though.
âThose STUPIDâ No. No, I'm over it. TOTALLY over it!!â
You get up from where you had been laying, you run a hand down April's back. Dodging the..gloopy stuff.
âHow about you..take a shower? I'll get you pyjamas then we can just chill, yeah?â
The promise of relaxing with you soothed April's temper enough for her to go and take a shower. While she did that, you picked out pyjamas for her to wear.
She wasn't in the shower long, soon enough you were both in April's bed as she retold the story of how the mission went.
âSoâthere was thisâŚgloopy monster thing! It was all going fine until Donnie decided to BLOW IT UP! BAM! Sludge everywhere!â
You soothed April and her woes as she finished her story.
Her dramatic storytelling had tired her out, April was the one who fell asleep first. Clean and safe.
You weren't long after. Happy that April was happy.
He is totally so SO calm. He's spent years looking out for his brothers whenever they get sick. Surely a human is no different.
He was wrong. Very wrong.
Humans are different. Difference scares Raph. He panics, not wanting to make your condition any worse.
Raph tiptoes around you. A slight cough or a sniffle is enough to make him worry.
Eventually he pulls himself together. A quick pep-talk in the mirror is enough to convince himself that he can look after you.
He makes sure you are comfortable, checking in every 5 minutes.
âIs there anythinâ Raph can do for ya?â
His tail doesn't stop swishing anxiously until you fall asleep.
If you wake up feeling nauseous, he's quick to help you to the bathroom. Rubbing your back in soothing circles until you've emptied your stomach.
Helps you get comfy again and gets you anything you want, he'll even sit through your favourite movie that he finds annoying.
When you finally recover, he practically melts in relief. Pulling you close with his tail and making you promise to never get sick again.
Leonardo
When he learns you are sick, he practically falls to his knees in despair. All the plans you two had for the day are GONE. RUINED.
âWHYYY PIZZA SUPREME. WHY MUST YOU DO THIS!!â
He's a little overdramatic. Okay. Very overdramatic. Acts as if you are dying and won't leave your side until you are better.
In reality, he's analysing everything. Wracking his brain to decide what he does next. He can deal with injuries. Sickness? Not really his forte.
He employs Mikey to make you soup, he doesn't trust his own cooking to make you feel better.
Watches you eat very carefully, a little too carefully. He's just making sure you don't choke and die in front of him.
Will cuddle up with you and watch whatever you want, although he doesn't insist that you watch Jupiter Jim with him. If you say no, he pouts while putting on whatever you want to watch.
âWhat do you mean no Jupiter Jim?! There's not a better franchise to watch when you're sick!!!â
If you fall asleep on him, he will stay as still as a statue. His face flushes, a small smile on his face. He's flustered at the fact you feel so comfortable around him.
Also ends up falling asleep but not before taking a few photos for blackmail.
He gets sick afterwards. Karma.
Donatello
The most prepared for you falling ill. Although, that doesn't mean he's enamoured by the whole situation.
He'll take you to his lab and scan you over, just to make sure it's nothing life threatening.
âGood news. You won't perish. Bad news. You are highly gross and definitely contagious.â
He scuttles around you. Not too close. Not too far. He doesn't want to catch your cold but doesn't want to leave you alone.
Once you're settled and covered in a mountain of blankets, he lets out a sigh of relief.
He is useless if you vomit. But will comfort you afterwards and help you back to your miserable pile on the couch or in bed.
Reminds you to drink water and will always stay on time with medicine.
If you can't sleep, he'll stay nearby and narrate whatever he may be doing. Or he'll explain to you every intricate detail of the turtle tank.
Once you're asleep, he tidies up around you. Fixes your blanket, picks up any trash.
"You're lucky my brothers are even more disgusting even when perfectly healthy..."
He is happy that he could take care of you. Despite how disgusting sick people are. In the future, he shares his hand sanitizer with you to help prevent future sicknesses. Even his brothers don't get that luxury.
Michelangelo
Like Leo, he's overdramatic and is convinced that you are dying. It takes all three of his brothers to calm him down.
âYOU'RE SICK?! HOW BAD?! ARE YOU GONNA BE OKAY?!â
Once he's calm, he locks in. Seeing you so miserable makes his heart ache. He knows how yucky being sick can be.
He makes you a little den, collecting all the blankets that he can find. He brings you pillows and teddies. Anything comfortable.
He doesn't miss a single cough, sneeze or sniffle. Rubbing your back or shoulder after each one.
He makes you soup. Any kind you want. He puts his whole heart into it, making sure you enjoy every bite you can manage.
âLittle spoonfuls. That's what Raph always says to me!â
He treats you like a delicate flower. Never rushing you, never moving you unless absolutely necessary.
If you throw up, he's right by your side. Pulling your hair back, rubbing your back.
âIt's okay. You just gotta let it all out.â
He tucks you back into bed, scootching in beside you. If he gets sick, that's future Mikey's problem.
Mikey pulls out his notebook, going through each page slowly. Explaining to you what all of his little doodles are in an effort to soothe you to sleep.
You both fall asleep together. Curled into each other. Notebook forgotten, blankets strewn across you both. Sickness is a lot more manageable with Mikey around.
April O'Neil
She's got it all under control. Totally. She's NOT cracking under pressure and texting Donnie in a panic. NOPE.
After fishing out obvious answers and solutions from Donnie, she feels confident in looking after you.
Medicine. Rest. Liquids. Medicine. Rest. Liquids.
April practically tapes you to the bed. You are not getting up while she's around. Anything you need, she can get.
âNuh uh. You are staying in this bed! Anything you need I can get. Just stay here andâŚdon't move. April O'Neil's got ya covered.â
She scurries around. Getting you whatever it is you might need. Blankets? She's got them. Glass of water? She's on it.
You two spend a lot of time watching movies. April comments quietly on her favourite parts.
April makes you soup. Just a simple one out of a can. She doesn't have Mikey to help her out.
She panics when you get queasy, rushing you to the bathroom. She loves you, but not enough to let you puke on her good duvet.
Once you feel a bit better, she helps you sip some water and get comfy again. Soon enough, you fall asleep. April isn't far behind.
Looking after someone really takes it out of a girl. Phew.

Could I please request headcanons for if (Bayverse)Donnie was the first of them to get a girlfriend? Maybe the reactions of his family? How Donnie would handle it? Lol. If you decide to do this thank you for taking the time, itâs much appreciated â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
Hello! Of course, and thank you for the request. Enjoy!
Ngl, I also think Donnie would be the first to get a girlfriend, and then Mikey lol. âĄâĄâĄâĄ
Donnie has a... WHAT? *â .â â§
Leo tries to be supportive, but he canât resist in being worried about the situation
He's gonna be like
âOh, Donnie, Iâm sure sheâll love explaining to her friends that her boyfriend lives in a sewer.â
When Donnie gets defensive, Leo quickly switches to big-brother mode, assuring him that heâs proud of him and that youâre lucky to have him
Heâll keep an eye on the relationship, making sure Donnie isnât getting too wrapped up and still taking time for himself đ˘
He may also gently remind Donnie about his ninja training if he's starts daydreaming too much
Raphâs initial reaction is full of snark
âSeriously, Donnie? You? With a girlfriend? What, she got a thing for geeks with battle shells?â
He teases Donnie mercilessly, but heâs impressed
Once the teasing is over, Raph gets super protective. He doesnât want Donnie getting hurt or taken advantage of, so heâll grill you
⨠In his own subtle way â¨
As much as Raph pretends not to care (not in front of you, at least)
You catch him asking Donnie about your favorite snacks, which he tries to pass off as, âI just want to see if she's got good taste.â
Mikey is way too excited
Heâs the first to announce to the whole family, âYo, Donnieâs got a girlfriend! Our little genius is growing up!â
Donnie turns beet-red, while Mikey starts planning all sorts of ridiculous date ideas for his brother and you, like rooftop pizza picnics
Whenever Donnieâs nervous, Mikeyâs there to crack jokes
âBro, just tell her how much you can bench press. Chicks dig that!â
Donnie facepalms every time.
Splinter is the calm, steady presence Donnie didnât know he needed
Heâs the first to notice Donnieâs late-night pacing and his tendency to get lost in his head
âMy son, love is a powerful force, but it is also fraught with uncertainty. You must trust in her feelings for you, and in yourself.â
Splinter is more subtle about his approval, often giving Donnie small pieces of wisdom when theyâre training
Heâs just happy that one of his sons has found happiness.
Remember back in high school the juiciest gossip was always about someone like-like-ing someone else? Will you write headcanons or something about the Mayhem boys hearing a rumor about someone (Reader) like-like-ing them? What would they do with this super important information?
I just really need some fluffy goofy high school shenanigans now-a-days.
Have You Heard?
MM!Turtles x Reader
This was so much fun to write. I loved adding hints of my own comedy and little cliches while giving each turtle their own individual story to follow. Thank you for the request, enjoy!
Leo
This was unexpected
Oh this was VERY unexpected
See Leo was a loser
He didnât get to be cool, he didnât get to be  smart, he didnât get to be funny and he didnât get the girl
At least thatâs what he thought
According to April though, this was entirely inaccurate
According to April, youâd had a crush on him for the last month
Someone went a whole MONTH harbouring romantic feelings for him!
And not just anyone; his cool, pretty friend whom he had fallen head-over-heels for the first day they met
This was unbelievable!
Of course his brothers didnât believe him
I mean, why would they? According to them, he naturally makes girls gravitate away from him
Now itâs not like you knew April told Leo this
You had simply shared the information during a sleepover and blindly trusted her
A bad choice really considering sharing news was her whole gig
Still you were none-the-wiser the next day as to why Leo was anxiously pulling at his shirt
Or why he avoided your eyes like the plague
Or why when you chose to sit next to him in geography he felt like his heart was about to erupt
You had no clue
So what was Leo to do in this situation?
Trust in Aprilâs words and confess his feelings, risking the possibility of making things more awkward?
Or stay silent and let fate decide when was right, risking losing the chance to be with you forever?
It was a tough choice
But Leoâs a wimp so obviously he wasnât going to say anything
That was until his brothers forced him to
Donnie had cleverly hacked his computer to send an email to you, asking you to meet in one of the art rooms
He in turn did the same to your computer and gave explicit times to ensure you both crossed over
It was believing those emails that lead you to to your current situation
Locked in an art room by April and Leoâs insufferable brothers, forced to wait it out until you found a way to escape
Heart pounding, mind racing and palms sweating
Leo knew exactly what they wanted out of you two and he had no idea how to do it!
SoâŚ
Guess weâre stuck, in here
âŚ
Seems like itâll be a while-
Did I upset you Leo?
What, no!?
Really? Cause youâve been acting weird all day
Not because of you!
Well it sure seems like itâs because of me!
How!?
You literally made a point to stare at nothing but the ground the second I tried talking to you today!
I was nervous!
Why were you nervous!?
Because I really like you!
I really, really like you
And I guess the thought that you might like me back is so thrilling itâs kind of terrifying
But I-I donât expect you to feel the same, I get this is probably off-putting with the green and the shell and the baldness-
Leo!
You grabbed his head and forced him to finally meet you face-to-face
No tan, hair-covered, bare-backed guy could ever make me feel the way I do for you
You quickly kissed him and upon pulling away realised he had melted into a puddly, flustered mess
And you were released from the art room
Eventually
In the end it was a win-win
April got to succeed in her matchmaking schemes, you got to kiss the turtle of your dreams, Leo got a girlfriend and his brothers had something new to tease him about
Ok, so maybe it wasnât a 100% win for Leo but close enough
Raph
Raph had met you first when he joined the wrestling club at school and you just so happened to be there
You also happened to be there when he tried out for the track team
And footy team
And basketball team
And cricket team
And just about every single sport he experimented with
For some reason you were consistently always there, always in his head with your stupid pretty face and swooshy hair and bright eyes and dumb little smile
GOD WHY WERE YOU ALWAYS THERE &$!#%!!??
Well⌠since you seemed to follow him everywhere Raph figured he may as well befriend you
And you two got along well, soon enough it seemed like he had found his new best friend
Also it may have turned out that youâd been widely involved in the schoolâs sport program for years but we donât talk about that!
Anyhow, you guys stuck together pretty consistently
Always hanging out and goofing off, ranting about teachers and friends
In a weird way you were also each otherâs therapists, being forced to be the reasonable one whenever the other was in a firey state
His brothers greatly appreciated it as it meant they had to deal with less violent endeavours from him
If only Donnie hadnât been feeling so bored that day, maybe then heâd still be alive
Or at least have a chance of living to the next day
See you and Raph had just been chilling at your locker while you grabbed stuff for class
No biggie, the closest you contact you had was Raphâs arm being slightly around you
But when Donnie came around and saw you two he couldnât think of a better way to brighten his day than to embarrass his brother in front of the girl heâd been talking about for weeks
So as he walked by he slyly turned to you two, eyebrows raised and commented âYou two look comfyâ before contently strutting off
Raphâs face blended in with his mask as he stared angrily at his brotherâs back
Iâm gonna kill him
Donât
I have P.E with him today
Donnie ended up returning home with a LOT of bruises that day
But it was worth it for the information he managed to squeeze out of you
All which he spouted to Raph like a proud toddler
Raph didnât believe him
He genuinely didnât
No way you had a crush on him
You liked to watch him wrestle for the fight not the visuals
And the only reason you were insistent on having him at your locker every morning was so you had someone to talk to. Youâd replace him with any of your friends if they arrived earlier
Also, the fact that you showed off your muscles to him at a swim competition was purely to brag and in no way hinting towards any feelings!
Raph knew you didnât like him and he could prove it
So Donnie dared him to ask you
Then after regaining consciousness, told Raph heâd call him out for being a wimp if he didnât
3 beatings in one day, way to go Donnie!
So Raph wasnât feeling too psyched the next day when he was talking to you and noticed Donnieâs lingering gaze but a guyâs gotta do what a guyâs gotta do (terrible under other context but you get the point)
Ok Y/n, now this is totally random but stupid Donnie has been nagging me to ask you. Do you like me? Like, like-like me
Donnie told you that?
No he just wanted me to ask-
Well heâs right
Huh?
He told me you feel the same way, Iâm assuming you do
After all it would make sense as to why youâre constantly displaying signs of high dopamine, noradrenaline, releases of phenethylamine and hormonal changes around me
I donât know what any of those words mean but I love you
You turned to him with a genuine smile
I love you too, but it has only been a few weeks so can we just take things a bit slow for now?
Uh huh
Awesome
You gripped the top of his plastron and pulled the lovestruck turtle into a small kiss
Sadly you were torn apart when an annoying voice called out from across the hall
I told you so!
He bolted, but at least you two had managed to get together. Raph may have actually killed Donnie otherwise
Donnie
You and Donnie were childhood friends, platonic besties, a power duo of friendship
There were no romantic feelings between you two AT ALL
âŚ
So it started in maths
You, Donnie and Leo were being the ultimate nerd trio, figuring out equations and such when one of the annoying kids, Harvey, thought it would be funny to call out
Hey Donnie! Did you know Y/n likes you!?
Some kids started laughing and others talking while you sat there with your face beet red
Donnieâs face flushed as he stumbled over his words, desperately trying to defend you which he didnât succeed well in
He did take note of your reaction to the whole scenario which peaked his interest
(Side note: Leo did slightly enjoy the whole thing, finally not the butt of the joke đ)
After that day Donnieâs thoughts grew
He had pictured these scenarios a thousand times in his head but never had they felt so possible
Asking you out, you asking him out, going on dates, exchanging gifts, hugging, crying, kissing
Then it happened again, sort of
He and Raph were leaving class together
Easy, simple, completely normal
Till a random girl, who he recognised as your friend, yelled from behind
Donnie, do you like Y/n!?
He panicked. What was he meant to say?
He couldnât say yes, what if you didnât like him? But what if you did like him?
However, they were getting further away and he only had seconds to answer
So he made the âsmartest decision of his lifeâ and called back
U-uh, um, no!
Since then youâd been more distant
And with all this evidence; Donnie became a full analyst
He noted down your behaviours, how you acted before and now
How your interests changed with him, when you were louder and quieter, what gestures you made to hint any feelings
He looked deep and saw all the signs
Sadly you were still pretty distant after what you heard from your friend and Donnie was determined to change that
First off, he tried to initiate more conversation and when you attempted to cut it short he kept pushing
No matter how hard his social anxiety was screaming he knew he had to keep conversations going
He also kept making an effort to sit next to you
Any scenario be it lunch, class or just general group hangouts; he was always by your side
And after a week or so when you seemed to be loosening up more he chose to take things a step further with physical contact
Heâd give you a high-five, fist bump or hug as a greeting
Maybe lean on your shoulder or get closer when you were showing him something
Sometimes if he was feeling particularly happy heâd sneak his hand over yours
Soon enough, it seemed like you had finally gotten over everything and were back to your old self. But there was still something you had to address
Lunch time, alone. Thatâs when you chose to bring it up
Donnie, do-um⌠did uh my friend ever tell you anything a few weeks ago?
He began choking on his food
*Cough* N-no uh why?
Well itâs just that the last few days youâve been different
Different how?
Uh⌠just small stuff like the hand thing and I guess youâve seemed a bit closer
Oh! I mean psh, I just thought you were upset or something so I wanted to cheer you up, no big deal
You thought I was upset? Why?
Well you were acting more distant and I didnât want to bring it up cause I thought it might be sensitive so I figured Iâd just help on the side, you know?
Thatâs actually really sweet. But are you sure thereâs no other reason for it?
Uh nope! None, I mean why else would I want to hug you and hold your hand and stuff itâs not like I have a crush on you. Cause that- that would be crazy you and me together like whaaat? A mutant and a human who, how!?
Donnie
Yes
Did you lie to my friend?
Maybe
âŚ
So it wouldnât be weird if we dated?
Iâd love it if we dated
Of course you kissed and both of you loved it
Donnie had never felt this happy in his whole life, not even when they saved the city!
And he had enough blackmail to shut his brothers up if they ever tried teasing you two
Mikey
You two were the best of buddies
Two peas in a pod
Always acting and performing at each others side
Mikey loved it
Mikey loved you
And the day he heard you may feel the same caused his mind and heart to simultaneously explode
It was Leo, of course it was Leo
They were in art discussing the struggles of having human crushes
It was when Leo said âAt least yours likes you backâ that he knew he screwed up
Mikey wasnât panicked though, Mikeyâs Mikey
He was of course very happy when he heard the news and didnât leave Leo alone about it for days
Every waking moment was spent getting updates from Leo and insights into your friend group
And whenever you two saw each other be it before school, after school, breaks, in class or at improv, he was ecstatic
This guy just couldnât get enough and made every effort to let you know he liked you
Soon enough he felt like he had enough confirmation on your feelings and gained the confidence to just go for it
It was during a game of freeze tag when he tapped out the person you were previously with and started a new scene
Jessie! Hey, thank gosh I found you
Lucas, whatâs up? I havenât seen you in a while
Oh well, you know, Iâve just been busy; things have been a bit different lately
Different how?
Well the word is that someone I know likes me but I just donât know who
That sure is a dilemma
Yeah, if itâs the person I think it is though I recon itâll end pretty well
You got some hopes do you?
Ahh just someone, nothing to worry about I donât know if youâre associated
Try me
Alright well⌠they have h/c hair ooh and pretty e/c eyes!
Theyâre also one of my closest friends and I donât think they realise just how much I like them
Wow Lucas that must be really keeping you on edge
Yeah, if only I knew who it is
At this point you and Mikey had moved so close to each other your hands were almost touching
Mikey I-
FREEZE!
And just like that, the scene was over
But not the story
At the end of the rehearsal you and Mikey walked out of school together and the discussion of feelings was unavoidable
You two were walking silently side-by-side till he finally said it
I like you Y/n
Do you like me back?
I like you so much Mikey you donât even know
His face lit up as he cheerfully pulled you into a hug and spun around
You took the opportunity as he slowed down, cupped one of his cheeks and planted a kiss on his lips
From that day forward Mikey got to walk around boasting about having the greatest partner in all of New York
And you went on to kick Leoâs butt for exposing your secret so easily
Again, I loved writing this so much. Also I think Iâm going to use indented for my Headcanons from now on (although I guess theyâre more listed stories at this point). Anyway thank you for reading and please, have an awesome day/night wherever you are!â¨
[4 posts in one day?? thatâs actually crazy i think i might be possessed or smth]
Michelangelo
Absolutely loves being able to hype you. heâs your own personal cheerleader
After your first kiss, he did a backflip to celebrate. he always gets super giddy whenever yaâll kiss or even js hold handsÂ
His favorite types of dates are usually very fast pace and full of adventure. he loves going to stuff like carnivals and concerts and laser tagÂ
Invented a very sacred secret handshake with you that heâll never use with anyone elseÂ
Mikey is always the happy one, the guy who cheers everyone else up. so itâs a big relief when he realizes that he doesnât have to be 100% around you. heâs allowed to be sad and angry and just generally upset bc he knows you wonât judge himÂ
Takes advantage of his newfound fame to get access to exclusive events and meet his favorite celebrities. heâll definitely find a way to introduce you to your fav actors or influencersÂ
Hanging out with Rod definitely strained your relationship for a while. you knew rod was bad news but every time you tried telling that to Mikey, he would just ignore you and brush off your concerns
Loves being able to make you laugh. Itâs his favorite sound. Heâll crack joke after joke until youâre laughing so hard you can barely breatheÂ
Calls out to you whenever he sees you. Even if itâs across a crowded hallway, heâll wave and shout your name as loud as he canÂ
Whenever you go to his improv shows and he sees you in the audience, his brain kinda short circuits and he canât help but grin like a love sick foolÂ
[i just got to watch the mutant mayhem movie on the big screen of my local theater and it was HEAVENLY 𼚠anyways i got super inspired so now im posting this! enjoy~]
RaphaelÂ
Talks about you nonstop whenever heâs given the chance, always highlighting your best qualities and his favorite things about youÂ
It always means the world to him whenever you come to any of his wrestling matches. he loves when youâre on the sidelines cheering him on
Loves going on any food related dates like having lunch at that new pizza place downtown or baking cookies together when you canât sleepÂ
Very big on physical affection. he loves everything from holding hands underneath tables to late night cuddles on the couch. as long as youâre close to him, he doesnât gafÂ
Itâs no secret that heâs got a short fuse. arguments are bound to happen one way or another. after any especially nasty argument, it doesnât take long for him to come running back to you. heâll apologize either in person or via text, even it it kills him a little bit on the insideÂ
Always tries to be nonchalant around you but fails miserably every single time
Hates how incredibly flustered he gets whenever heâs around you. he swore heâd never be like leo when heâs around april but every time he sees you itâs like he falls in love all over again
Will always brush off his injuries like theyâre no big deal. heâll randomly pop up with a black eye and when you start fussing over him, he gets rly grumpy and super embarrassed (he secretly loves the attention)
Your nicknames usually revolve around your personality. if youâre into computers and robotics like donnie heâll call you his nerd or âdonnie 2.0â
Gets a little jealous whenever youâre hanging out with his brothers. he knows theyâre not into you and they would never do smth like that to him, but itâs more like why are you paying attention to them when you could be paying attention to him instead? :(

Michelangelo Â
Matching his energy. if heâs excited about smth and you get just as excited as he is, heâll literally fall in love all over againÂ
RaphaelÂ
Hugs. or any type of physical touch. but hugs are definitely his achilles heel. one hug and suddenly heâs as calm as a cucumber
BayverseÂ
RaphaelÂ
If youâre soft with him, he melts. heâs so used to a harsh life under the surface but when he meets you, itâs like a breath of fresh air from above. heâs a monster and youâre the best thing thatâs ever happened to himÂ
MichelangeloÂ
When you return his flirty advances. he could flirt until heâs blue in the face but the moment you flirt back? he meltsÂ
Being noticed. if you remember him liking a certain video game or his favorite topping on pizza, he gets all shy and embarrassed bc you remembered. you actually remembered
DonatelloÂ
Gifts. heâs usually the one whoâs making stuff for other people so when itâs his turn? heâs a flustered messÂ

LeonardoÂ
Compliments. while he might not react to them when theyâre originally given, heâll be thinking about them for days or even weeks later
RottmntÂ
Donatello
Being complimented for his inventions
Touching his soft shell. even just brushing your fingers against his shell will make him melt into your armsÂ
LeonardoÂ
He melts whenever you flirt back. he can be a relentless flirt sometimes but he gets all quiet and mushy whenever you kiss him on the cheek in public or return his advancesÂ
MichelangeloÂ
Matching his energy. sunshine x sunshine moments that stay with him foreverÂ
Giving him a handmade gift. anything arts n crafty will literally make him tear up and keep it foreverÂ
Squishing his face and telling him how cute he isÂ
Raphael
PDA, especially around his family. even just holding his hand will make him blush and shrink into his shellÂ
When you kiss his scars, especially the ones around his eyeÂ
Context : You have been taken hostage, and the four bros are searching for where you're being kept. While they're all very worried about you, one turtle is particularly affected by your sudden disappearance.
He was in denial before getting confirmation you were kidnapped. He just wanted to believe anything else was true.
Once realizing you were, in fact, in danger, he got very serious very quickly.
The first day or two, maybe not so much. He simply made sure he was being thorough, paying closer attention to what his brothers were telling him.
There was then a much more obvious shift. He spoke up more when formulating plans. His brothers didn't think much of it at first, but hearing him actually sound more than competent shocked them.
The longer you're gone, the quieter he gets, until there's no more games, no more jokes, no room for messing around.
He ends up separating himself from the others altogether, training, meditating, waiting for the guys to signal a lead.
He feels terrified and worried for you. He feels angry at those who harmed you. Most, he feels shame.
Maybe everyone was right about him. He was too carefree, too wild, too stupid. It isn't the first time he's thought this way, but it's the first time he's been so incredibly affected by it.
The only way he can fix this is to be someone different. Better.
When you're discovered, he is devoted to battle. He is not letting there be any chance you get hurt, not while he can do something about it.
He's constantly calling out to the others, telling them to move faster, hit harder, do better.
As soon as the battle is won, he runs right for you, throwing himself at you.
Already he begins returning to normal. He's got you in a tight hold as the others release you, talking about how worried they all were, and how much he missed you.
On the walk back, he's mentally checking off a list, determining just how okay you are, which ranges from obvious physical injuries to how hard you laughed at his joke.
When you do return to safety, he's most focused on your mental state. Cant calm down after something like that if your mind still doesn't feel good.
He'll be making/ordering you your comfort foods, digging up your favorite movies, finding your comfiest pjs, leaving the doctoring to someone more capable.
After that, he definitely needs to curl up on the couch beside you for some long overdue cuddling.
He's utterly exhausted, the mental toll on him during that time was intense.
His brothers would poke fun at him becoming so tired after "having to actually think".
With it all over, things seem to return to normal. He's back to his excitable self!
But the way you catch him looking at you? The way his grip as he holds you is firmer than before? The way that, when he's near you, his breathing sounds heavier, and at times even shaky? You can tell he still thinks about what happened.
You try to ease his worries, that everything will be okay. He plays it up as if that works for him.
He may never admit he just doesn't think he's good enough the way he is.
Sooo, this was originally written after reading something @wegotfoodathome wrote (involving a pregnant reader). And, not surprisingly, it turned into something bigger.
Aaaaaand, I needed a break from all the smut I was writing. Going back to my comfy origins of fluff (with the exception of Raihan...that man is a horn dog and you can't convince me otherwise).
Characters: Corbeau, Philippe, Grisham, Ivor, Urbain, Vinnie, L/Lysandre, Lance, Raihan, Kabu, Leon, Piers, Hassel, Brassius, Larry, and Steven Stone
CW: men, pregnant reader, pregnancy, labor, nsfw is marked
Steam curled in soft ribbons above the bath, blurring the air, softening the lamplight, and cloaking everything in a warmth your exhausted body clung to. You lay back against the porcelain, one leg stretched along the bottom, the other bent to give your hips some relief. The water lapped gently around you, most of your belly submergedâexcept for the very top of it; the high, round swell that refused to sink, rising like a small moon above the surface.
Corbeau sat on the floor beside the tub, legs folded with that precise, feline neatness he carried into everything. His tailored coat was draped over a nearby chair, deep purple sleeves rolled back just enough for him to work. His handâcool at first, then warmâcradled yours as he pressed his thumb slowly into the center of your palm.
You sighed. âOhâŚthat one hurts.â
âMm,â he murmured, his expression unreadable behind angular glasses. âThat means itâs working.â
He adjusted his grip, pushing at another pressure point with the careful precision of a man who never did anything halfway. You watched his face, his sharp yellow eyes focused entirely on your hand, his purple hairâstyled in that distinctive toxic rippleâcatching the lamplight. He looked uncharacteristically calm here, stripped of his coat, sleeves rolled back, attending to you with quiet, devout concentration.
âPhilippe is managing bedtime?â he asked after a moment, voice low, even.
âManaging,â you echoed, smiling tiredly. âEither reading her a story or bribing her with pastries. Hard to say.â
A faint huff of amusement left himâbarely there, but real. âI think she listens to him better than you or me.â
âHeâs her godfather. She thinks he hung the moon.â
Corbeauâs thumbs slowed. âHe should. Itâs the role he was given.â
You laughed, letting the warmth soak deeper into your muscles. He shifted to your other hand, lifting it from the water and drying it gently before working on the base of your thumb. The ache eased again under his touch, spreading upward, loosening something that had been tight for days.
âAre we ready?â you asked softly after a stretch of silence.
He didnât look up. âFor what?â
âYou know.â You exhaled through your nose. âTo do this all over again. The whole thing. Labor. Childbirth. The sleepless nights. Feeding every two hours. Diapers. The blowouts. The spit-up. TheâŚvery glamorous healing process.â
His thumbs paused, not in hesitation, but in thought. âI'm ready,â he said simply. âMore than ready.â
You smiled despite yourself. Corbeau never lied, and he never embellished. If he said he was ready, it meant he had considered every angle, every burden, every cost.
Still, you huffed. âIâm not sure Iâm ready for leaky boobs again.â
He stopped massaging.
You followed his stare downward.
His gaze was locked in that sharp, unblinking, predatory way of his, on the top of your chest where the bath water glistened over fuller, heavier breasts. The man was subtle in many things; this was not one of them.
âCorbeau,â you said, snapping your fingers lightly.
His eyes flicked back to your face, utterly unrepentant. âYou brought them up.â
âAnd you didnât need to visually investigate my claims.â
âOn the contrary,â he said dryly, resuming his massage, âI found the demonstration illuminating.â
You rolled your eyes, but your smile lingered as you continued, âAnd then thereâs the sitting. Do you remember how much pain I was in just for sitting? The donut helped, slightlyâoh, and then there was the bleeding. I swear I couldnât even sneeze withoutââ
He interrupted, voice flat as stone. âIt sounds like youâre not ready at all.â
You snorted at the deadpan delivery. âNo. Iâm ready.â You let your head tip back against the tubâs edge, your voice softening. âYou all make it worth it.â
His hands worked slower on yours.
Then, you felt a firm, purposeful kick beneath the water. Your breath hitched, and y reached for Corbeauâs hand wordlessly, guiding it to the swell of your belly.
Corbeau leaned closer, glasses slipping down his nose as he focused entirely on the point beneath his palm. The baby kicked again, stronger this time, and something changed in his faceâsubtle but unmistakable. A softening. A bloom of warmth cracking through the austere shell he wore like a uniform.
His lips parted slightly, and when his next breath came, it was slow, and amazement.
He shifted forward without thinking, bracing a hand on the tubâs edge as he leaned in to kiss you. His mouth met yours gentlyâno bite, no sharpness, none of the edge he showed the world. Just warmth, and devotion, and a tenderness he reserved for only two people on earth: the child asleep in the next room, and the one still safe inside you.
When he pulled back, he touched his nose to yours as he spoke softly enough that the bathâs surface almost swallowed the sound.
âI love you.â
You drew him back in by the collar, touching your nose to his. âI love you, too.â
His hand remained on your belly long after the baby settled again, fingers splayed, protective, humbled, proud. And his other hand took up yours, slow and steady, grounding you both in the quiet warmth of the bath and the life youâd made togetherâtwice now, and counting.
Philippe
Philippe sat at the foot of the bed like he was afraid to jostle you, even though the mattress barely dipped under his weight. For a man built like a brick wall in a tailored three-piece suit, he handled your swollen feet as if they were made of glass. His thumbs pressed slow circles into your arches, big hands warm and careful, working through the puffiness that had made even standing feel like punishment.
You lay propped against a mountain of pillows, belly huge and round beneath your soft shirt, the pregnancy having fully claimed your body in the final stretch. Bed rest had been doctor-ordered, and Philippe took that order with the gravity of a sacred oath. He refused to let anyone else tend to you if he was in the building.
âSweetheart,â he murmured, voice deep and surprisingly gentle for a man with mutton chops sharp enough to cut steel. âYour feet are very swollen today.â
âTheyâre always swollen,â you sighed. âEverything is swollen.â
âMm,â he agreed sympathetically, adjusting your foot in his palm. âYouâre carrying our first child, and your body works very hard.â
You groaned into your pillow. âToo hard. Look at meâmy nose is huge. Pregnancy nose is real, and I hate it.â
Philippe blinked once, slowly. âYour nose is adorable.â
âYouâre lying.â
âI do not lie,â he said earnestly, then added in a lower rumble, âEspecially not to my wife.â
You huffed, covering your face for a moment. âAnd, I donât even get the cute pregnancy glow. I get melasma. Blotches. I look like a taupe Rorschach test.â
Philippeâs hands paused just long enough for you to see the frown lines pull at his brow. âYou look beautiful.â
You shook your head. âPhilippe, you donât have toââ
âIâm not flattering you,â he said, resuming the massage with slow, steady pressure. âIâm simply stating a fact.â
You sighed, caught between exasperation and affection, letting your head fall back. âWellâŚthere are some perks, least.â
His silver eyes flicked up, curious. âMm?â
âMy boobs,â you admitted. âMy butt. AndâŚmy sex drive. God, I couldnât get enough of the sex! Iâd have it more if I didnât have this belly in the way.â
The pause this time was longer. Much longer. Philippeâs ears turned pink.
âAh,â he said, reverent as a monk beholding a miracle. âYes. Those have beenâŚvery noticeable changes.â
You snorted. âPhilippe...â
âI am only agreeing,â he insisted, but the warm appreciation in his stare made you roll your eyes.
âWeâre going to need a whole new wardrobe for me after this.â
âWe will buy anything you want,â he said without missing a beat. âEvery size. Every style. Corbeau will get us a discount.â
You laughed. âI'm sure he will.â
âHe will for you,â Philippe said simply. âHe fears you more than he fears me.â
Before you could respond, he shifted slightly closer, rubbing long strokes along your outer ankle to help circulation. His expression softened, seriousness edging into worry at the corners.
âYou asked earlier,â he said quietly. âIf we were ready.â
You swallowed. The humor faded as the real fearâyour fearârose again.
âChildbirth scares me,â you admitted. âEverything about it. The pain. The uncertainty. And breastfeeding sounds awful, at least at first. And postpartum? Iâve heard horror stories. The bleeding. The exhaustion. What if I canât do it? What if Iâm notââ
Philippe stilled your foot between both of his hands, holding it.
âMon cĹur,â he said softly, âyou are already doing it.â
Your throat tightened.
âYouâve carried this child with strength,â he continued. âYou have adapted. Endured discomfort. Fear. Change. All for them. That is motherhood already. And when the time comes, you wonât face any part of it alone.â His voice lowered, warm and steady. âI will be with you. Every step. Every moment. Every breath.â
Your eyes stung, and you blinked at the ceiling.
âAnd,â he added almost casually, âthe entire Rust Syndicate is prepared to assist.â
That startled a laugh out of you. âPhilippeââ
âOh, they have already organized schedules.â He nodded solemnly. âRotating shifts. Cooking duty. Guard duty. Diaper duty. Many of them have younger siblings. They feel confident.â
You covered your face with your hands, laughing harder. âThis is ridiculous.â
âThat is loyalty,â Philippe corrected. âAnd they are very excited.â
Then, with mild irritation: âAlso, Corbeau has been pestering me every day to let him be the godfather.â
âOh my god.â You snorted. âHe already is the godfather!â
âNot officially,â Philippe said darkly. âPaperwork remains unsigned.â
âLeave it to Corbeau to draft a contract for god-parentage,â you laughed.
You were still laughing when you felt the baby move. You gasped, gripping Philippeâs wrist.
âHere,â you whispered, guiding his hand to the protrusion.
He froze, wide-eyed. Another kick pushed against his palm and his entire expression transformedâsoftening, melting, opening in a way you had never seen outside moments like this.
âOur childâŚâ His voice cracked, just slightly. âThey are strong.â
You lifted your shirt, baring your belly fully. The baby shifted again, making the skin roll visibly. It always unnerved you a little, seeing it instead of just feeling it, and you exhaled shakily. âItâs weird, right?â
âNo,â Philippe breathed, transfixed. âIt isâŚmiraculous.â
His big hand splayed over the curve of you, awe radiating from him like heat. His other hand moved to your hip as if anchoring you to the bed, to him, to the moment.
He looked at you thenânot at your belly, but at youâas if something inside him had clicked into place.
âI respect and love you more every day,â he said simply. âFor this. For everything.â
Your heart clenched.
And as the baby kicked again beneath his palm, Philippe bowed his head, pressing a reverent kiss to your stomachâtender enough to break you completely.
Grisham
The night had gone still hours ago, the kind of quiet that presses against the windows and turns every shift of the bedsheets into a thunderclap. You lay on your side, body pillow hugged to your chest, belly heavy and unwieldy, tryingâand failingâto maneuver yourself into something resembling comfort. Every attempt to roll, even slightly, sent a jolt of pain through your hips, and the baby protested with a pointed shove that made you wince.
You groaned softly into the dark. âOwâŚcome onâŚâ
The man beside you stirred. Sheets rustled. A faint sigh. Then:
ââŚAre you alright?â
Grishamâs voice was sleep-roughened, low, and warm in that way he never allowed during waking hours. You felt the mattress dip as he turned toward you, his movements slow and deliberateâhe always moved as though calculating each action ahead of time.
âIâm sorry,â you whispered. âI didnât mean to wake you.â
âYou didnât,â he murmured, even though you knew you had. âYouâre uncomfortable.â
âEverything hurts,â you admitted. âI canât get situated. Every time I roll, it feels like my pelvis is going to split open.â
Your shirt had ridden up in your struggle, leaving your belly exposed to the cool air. Grishamâs eyes, softened faint light from the window, drifted down to it. He didnât say anything at first. Just watched the rise and fall of your breath, the faint twitch of movement beneath your skin.
Then he reached out, fingertips barely brushing your belly before he settled his palm against it, beginning a slow, steady massage. His touch was careful, respectful, but sure as he pressed low and gentle circles near your hips before smoothing upward.
âBetter?â he asked quietly.
âA little,â you breathed, relaxing into the pillow.
Silence stretched, long and easy.
âIâm hungry.â
In the dark, Grisham huffed a soft laugh. âOf course you are.â He shifted upright, reaching for his glasses on the nightstand and placing them on his face. âWhat would you like?â
âPain au chocolat,â you said immediately.
Another quiet laugh. âNaturally. Thatâs all youâve been craving during your whole pregnancy.â He ran a hair through his red-orange and white locks, and then rubbed your stomach once more, affectionate and amused. âThere were leftovers at the cafĂŠ today. Iâll warm one for you.â
He moved to get out of bed, but you stopped him with a hand on his wrist. âWaitâIâm coming with you.â
Grisham hesitated. âAre you sure?â
âI want to.â
He watched you for a moment, the faint shine of his glasses catching a sliver of moonlight. Then he nodded, before getting out of the bed.
You braced yourself, trying to roll onto your back. The moment you shifted, the baby shoved hard, painful and insistent.
âAhââ you gasped, pausing as the ache radiated through your pelvis.
Grisham was at your side in an instant, offering both hands.
You blinked up at him.
A sleepy, gentle smile tugged at his mouth.
You took his hands, and he pulled you up with all the patience in the world. Once you were upright, you pressed your palm to your belly, rubbing the sore spot as you caught your breath.
âSlowly,â he reminded you. âOne step at a time.â
You nodded and began your careful waddle toward the kitchen, following the quiet sound of his footsteps.
You sank into a chair at the table with a relieved sigh, stretching your legs out. Your hands instinctively cupped your belly while Grisham moved with quiet efficiency around the kitchen. The soft hum of the microwave, the faint clink of a mug, the gentle clatter of chocolate packets being opened; every sound felt intimate in the stillness of night.
He set the warmed pain au chocolat in front of you, then placed a steaming mug of hot chocolate beside it.
âHere,â he murmured, sliding into the chair next to yours.
You ate in silence, enjoying the way the chocolate melted on your tongue. Grisham watched you. Not in an overbearing way, but with a soft, contemplative focus. Like you were a painting he wasnât quite finished studying.
At one point, without thinking, you set your small plate on top of your belly to free your hands for the mug.
âItâs a table,â you sighed dramatically. âIâve become a table.â
âA beautiful table,â he added.
You snorted and nudged his knees with yours.
When the last crumbs were gone, you set the plate down and leaned back, content and heavy-limbed.
Grisham looked at you with a teasing glimmer in his eyes. âIâve never seen you so devoted to chocolate.â
âItâs not me,â you corrected, patting your belly. âItâs the baby.â
His gaze dropped again, lingering. You felt suddenly exposed, vulnerable in a way you hadnât expected. You covered part of your stomach with your handânot hiding it, exactly, but comforting yourself.
ââŚGrisham,â you murmured, âdo youâŚregret staying with me?â
His head snapped up so fast the strands of hair that were in front of his face flung back. âWhat?â
âYou didnât have to,â you continued, softly. âYou never talked about wanting kids. I know your upbringing wasnâtâŚâ You swallowed. âIdeal. I figured you had no interest in being a father, not that I was expecting to be a mother so soon.â
His expression shifted. Offense first, quick and sharp, then something softer pushing through.
âI never saw myself as a father,â he admitted slowly. âThat much is true.â
You nodded, absentmindedly. Youâd accepted the idea long ago, but it still didnât stop the slight pang of disappointment,
âBut,â he continued, voice gentler now, âif I were ever to have childrenâŚI cannot imagine having them with anyone but you.â
Warmth blossomed in your chest as your hand resumed rubbing your belly, this time with affection rather than unease.
You breathed out. âAre you scared?â
There was a pause. A long one.
âYes,â he said at last. âA little.â He adjusted his glasses. âBut, I believe all new parents feel that way. Donât you?â
He looked at you, then, with a softness he rarely allowed.
âAnd you?â he asked.
Your throat tightened. âIâm terrified.â
âOf what?â
âOf everything,â you said with a laugh. âWhat if something happens during delivery? What if something is wrong with the baby? What ifââ
Your breath hitched as the spiral took hold. Your lips trembled.
Grisham reached across the table, covering your hand firmly with his own. Then he guided both your hands to your belly, brushing your knuckles with his thumb in slow, calming strokes.
âBreathe, sweetheart,â he murmured. âYouâre not facing this alone. Iâll be there. Start to finish. Whatever happens, we meet it together.â
You inhaled and then exhaled, grounding yourself in the warmth of his hand.
âAnd,â he added, tone dry but undeniably fond, âI am told Corbeau intends to arrive at the hospital the moment he receives the call.â
You laughed wetly. âOf course he does. Iâd rather it be you, though.â
With a warm smile Grisham stood then, leaning down to press a soft kiss to your forehead. âFeel a little better?â
You nodded. âYeah. IâŚdo.â
He gathered your empty plate and mug, moving with that quiet precision he never lost, even half-asleep at two in the morning.
Ivor
Lower-back pain had become your constant companion these last weeks, a deep, grinding ache that no amount of pillows or stretches could ease.
Ivor knelt behind you on the floor, huge hands working along either side of your spine, palms warm, pressure steady. Heâd been at it for several minutesâlong enough that you felt the muscles start to loosen, and long enough that heâd grown quiet in concentration, his breath brushing the back of your neck.
But even he couldnât hold off the inevitable.
You groaned as another wave of discomfort rolled through your lower back. âItâs coming back.â
Ivor froze, hands hovering. His golden hair shifted as he leaned to peek around your shoulder, amber eyes wide and concerned. âAgain? Already?â
âYes,â you sighed. âAgain.â
He frowned in determination, brow furrowed, lip pouting, the picture of a very serious, very large man trying to fight something he couldnât punch. âOkay. Alright. What else can I do? Name it and Iâll do it.â
You bit back a laugh. âIt was of someone gently lifting their partnerâs belly to take the weight off their hips.â
His eyes widened in fascinated horror. âLiftâŚyour belly? Like, the whole thing?â
âOnly if youâre up for it.â
âIâM UP FOR ANYTHING,â he declared, too loudly, then lowered his voice. âI meanâyes. Show me how, please.â
You guided him to sit on a sturdy chairâbecause he was ginormous, and you were very much not. He sat obediently, thighs spread, posture perfect like a student awaiting instruction. You stood between his knees and turned around. Then, you lifted your shirt, exposing the heavy curve of your belly.
âOkay,â you murmured. âJust put your hands underneath, carefully, and gently lift.â
He slipped his hands beneath your bump, palms broad and warm, fingers curving around the underside, and then he lifted.
Relief slammed into you, immediate and overwhelming, your whole body sagging back against his chest.
âOh my god,â you gasped, âThatâs it. Donât move.â
âMuch better,â you exhaled. âDonât let go.â
His voice dropped, softer. âI wonât.â
You let yourself relax fully then, sinking against him, your hands resting on top of his. His arms wrapped around the lifted curve of your belly, supporting its full weight. The ache in your hips evaporated, and a dreamy sigh escaped you.
âNot long now,â you murmured, eyes half-closing.
âNo,â Ivor echoed, his chin resting gently on your shoulder. âNot long at all.â
There was something new in his tone. It steady and almostâŚquiet. For Ivor, it meant everything.
âAre you excited?â you asked.
âOf course I am,â he replied without hesitation.
âReally?â
He huffed a small laugh against your ear. âWouldnât you be excited for something youâve wanted for a long time?â
You paused. ââŚI suppose so.â
âExactly.â His thumbs stroked lightly across the underside of your belly. âWeâve been wanting this. Wanting them. For months.â
Warmth spread through youârelief, affection, and disbelief that this massive, golden himbo of a dojo master could sound so earnest.
You melted deeper against him, letting the bliss wash over you.
A comfortable silence settled before Ivor spoke again. âOhâand Gwynnâs excited to be an aunt.â
You barked a laugh. âShe is not.â
âOh, she is,â he said confidently. âShe pretends sheâs not. But I know my sister. Sheâs excited.â
You hummed skeptically. âWeâll see.â
Ivor shifted behind you, adjusting his hold slightly, and you felt the pressure return as your belly lowered a fraction.
âNo,â you whined. âDonât. Keep holding it.â
He snorted. âYouâre getting greedy.â
âShut up,â you shot back affectionately. âIâm the one growing the baby.â
His laugh vibrated through your back. âFair point.â
You let your hands slide over his, fingers tracing the tendons in his strong wrists. âI just hope the baby isâŚnormal sized.â
Ivor gasped, deeply, and theatrically offended. âHEY. I was a normal-size baby!â
You arched a brow he couldnât see. âWere you?â
A long pause.
ââŚI think I was.â
You burst out laughing.
âNo one ever told me otherwise!â he insisted. âIâwellâactually, no one ever told me anything about it, but still!â
He sounded so earnest, so sincerely flustered, that your laughter softened into a warm, loving chuckle as you leaned harder against him.
âKeep holding it,â you murmured again.
âYes, maâam,â he said fondly, adjusting his grip with exaggerated care.
Your hips had stopped throbbing, and your spine felt like it had been unknotted. And in the steady cradle of his massive hands, supported and held, you feltâfinallyâlight.
Ivor breathed in quietly behind you, then exhaled just as softly.
âCanât wait to meet them,â he murmured.
And for the first time all day, you could say the words back without pain.
ââŚMe too.â
Urbain
You shouldnât have laid down. You knew you shouldnât have laid down, but the stretch had felt so goodâyour spine popping, your arms reaching overheadâand then the couch had looked so soft, so inviting, so perfectly shaped for a very pregnant person to collapse onto.
And now you were half-buried in it. One leg trapped. One arm pinned. Your belly taking up 85% of the available surface area.
âUrbain!â you yelled toward the hallway. âUrbain, help! Iâm stuck!â
A beat of silence.
Then hurried footsteps.
Thenâ
A giggle. A genuine, canât-contain-it, bubbling laugh from the doorway.
âOh my Arceus,â Urbain wheezed, clutching the frame as he looked at you splayed helplessly on the couch. âBabeâyou look like a flipped-over Torkoal.â
âDon't laugh!â you protested, already laughing too because his stupid grin was impossible to resist. âThis hurts, you jerk!â
His laughter died down. âOkay, okayâhang on.â
He rushed over, slipping one arm behind your shoulders, one beneath your knees, and very carefully levering you upright. You grunted as your belly shifted with the movement, and Urbain winced sympathetically, slowing down until you were finally sitting, catching your breath.
âYou good?â he asked softly, crouched in front of you, blue eyes bright with worry.
âYeah,â you exhaled. âJustâŚstuck.â
He grinned. âWell, youâre unstuck now. Ready for the daily walk?â
You nodded.
He helped you stand, steadied you as you waddled outside, and then the two of you began curb-walking: one foot on the curb, one foot off, your hips swaying, and letting gravity doing its job.
Urbain walked beside you with both hands shoved awkwardly into his jacket pockets, bouncing with leftover energy, glancing at your belly every few seconds like it might peel open and reveal a baby fully assembled.
âSoâŚâ he began. âWhy exactly do we do this again?â
âTo help get the baby into position,â you panted. âSometimes it encourages labor.â
âOhhh.â He nodded sagely. âRight. Right. Science stuff. Got it.â
You rolled your eyes affectionately.
âOkay, soââ He lifted a finger. âBirth plan. When your water breaks, we said weâre gonna stay calmâright? Packâs already by the door. Iâll call Vinnie to let him know so he can start covering for me. Lida and Naveen said theyâre good to handle Hotel Z. And Corbeauâuhââ
He coughed.
You smirked. âGo on.â
âHe, uhâŚbought us, likeâŚa lot of stuff.â Urbain looked vaguely unsettled. âLikeâŚway too much. Expensive stuff. For you, mostly. Which isâyâknowânice? Weird, but nice?â
You snorted. âThatâs Corbeau.â
âYeah, well, I donât get that dude sometimes. But hey, diapers are diapers.â
You walked in silence for a minute, both of you breathing in the cool air. Urbain kept glancing at you like he wanted to ask something.
Finally he blurted, âSo,youâre over due, right? Is thatâŚbad? Like, normal-but-scary? Or, like, scary-but-normal?â
You laughed breathlessly. âItâs normal, Urbain. Babies rarely come on their due date.â
âOh.â He nodded again. âGood. Okay.â
Another few steps.
Then, the pressure changed.
You were mid-stride when it happened: a tightening low in your abdomen, a pressure that made you stop and brace your hand on your knee. Then, with your other hand, you lifted your shirt.
For a second nothing happened. And then, your entire belly shifted downward. The round dome that had been riding high beneath your ribs slowly descended, its weight settling lower into your pelvis. The upper curve deflated slightly, softening, while the underside grew fuller, heavier. The top of your belly, once pushed forward and proud, lost a bit of its height, and the bottom suddenly had that suspended, hammock-like fullness that only happens at the very end.
You and Urbain watched in stunned silence.
His jaw fell open.
âWhoaâŚâ Urbain breathed. âDid your belly justâlikeâmove?â
You ran your hand along the underside, feeling its new positionâlower, rounder, hanging just a little closer to your hips than before.
âYep,â you said breathlessly, âThis is a good sign.â
Urbain, eyes wide, nodded like he was witnessing PokĂŠmon evolution in real time. âItâs so weird. And kinda cool. But mostly weird.â
You laughed. âWell, I donât want to push my luck. Letâs head back home,."
You both turned around to head back home. Urbain yapped the rest of the way but you tuned him out, thinking about how close you were to having your baby in your arms. Thenâ
Pop.
You froze.
A rush of warm fluid soaked down your legs, into your socks, and onto the sidewalk.
Urbain stopped mid-sentence. âDidâuhâdid you justâspill something orââ
âUm, I think my water broke...â you said, brow furrowing. "That was quick."
âOhâŚ.OH! OH NO! HANG ON! OKAY, WE GOTTA, UHâWE DO THEâŚTHEâTHE PLANâRIGHT? THE PLANâwhat was the plan?âTHE BABYâS COMINGâOH MY GOD!â
âUrbainââ
âWE GOTTA GO! WE GOTTAâŚCALL SOMEONE! WE GOTTAâAAAAAHââ
âUrbain!â
But he was already fumbling for his phone, pacing in frantic circles, muttering to himself as he dialed numbers. And then he took off running toward home, full sprint, yelling over his shoulder:
âIâM GETTING THE BAG, STAY THERE! DONâT MOVE, BABE! DONâTâMOVE! I GOT THIS.â
"Urbain, waitâ!"
You sighed as you watched Urbain sprint away, phone already at his ear, probably shouting at Lida, or Vinnie, or possibly a wrong number in his panic.
"âŚHe really just left.â
Shrugging, you started walking slowly, carefully, toward home. Your lower belly tightened slightly, but no contraction followed.
Then, someone took your armâsteady, deliberate, but gentle.
âYou know I shouldnât be surprised at your husbandâs actions,â he muttered, âGiven that he had no problem getting his team into immense debt that he couldnât repay himself. What kind of husband abandons his pregnant wife after her water breaks?â
You winced. âHe didnât abandon me, Corbeau. He just panickedâŚa little.â
Corbeau gave you a look so dry it could have evaporated the small puddle at your feet. âA little?â
You bit your lip, trying not to smile. âHe means well.â
âI am aware.â His tone softened a fraction. âHowever, someone must compensate for his⌠enthusiasm.â
He offered his arm.
You hesitated only a moment before taking it, grateful for the support as the two of you began your slow walk home.
After a block of quiet steps, you glanced sideways at him.
âYou know, it seems awfully convenient that you appeared just now.â
He didnât answer at first. Instead, he just smiled. Just a small, knowing curve of his mouth, the kind that said he had absolutely no intention of elaborating.
Finally, he murmured, âI make it a point to be where I am needed.â
You narrowed your eyes. âThat doesnât answer anything.â
âIt answers everything,â he corrected, tone silk-smooth.
You looked up at the sky, thoughtful. ââŚDo you know everything?â
âMore than enough.â
You snorted. âThatâs not creepy at all. Might be borderline stalker behavior.â
He scoffed, face sharpening in annoyance, before softening. âBut if I didnât, I wouldnât be walking you home so you donât face the streets of Lumiose inâŚyour current condition.â
âI donât think Iâm in any real danger, Corbeau,â you patted his arm. Then, you elbowed him gently. âBesides, these are your streets.â
âPrecisely why I prefer to supervise who walks them.â
You huffed a laugh, leaning slightly into his support as another ache tugged at your hips. Corbeau glanced down at your belly, and then returned his gaze forward, expression unreadable again, but softer at the edges.
Together, you made your way home, slow, steady, and strangely peaceful, while somewhere ahead, Urbain was undoubtedly tearing the house apart searching for the hospital bag sitting exactly where he told you it would be.
Vinnie
Vinnieâs key glinted when the apartment door swung open, his breath coming a little fast, a little winded from the rush. His sunglasses were already sliding off as his gaze swept the room in one sharp, practiced motion.
His daughter reached him first, barreling into his legs. He caught her automatically, hand bracing her back, but his eyes had gone straight to youânine months pregnant, settled on the birthing ball, the TV playing a bright kidsâ show, your breath easing out as another mild contraction faded.
âHow are you feeling?â he asked immediately, voice steady, calm, controlled. âAny pain? How long apart?â
You answered with the same steadiness he gave you. âIâm fine. Theyâre still far apart, so theyâre pretty mild for now. And I already called the midwifeâsheâs on her way.â
The tension in his shoulders softened. He trusted your read. and he trusted the midwife far more than any hospital in Kalos after the experience with his daughterâs birthâa memory that still tightened his expression whenever it surfaced.
âGood,â he had murmured, something warm sitting behind the word.
âShe peed on the floor, papa,â his daughter piped up, still wrapped around his leg. âBut I helped clean up the mess.â
You started laughing, slightly mortified, at how his daughter described your water breaking to him.
Vinnie smiled down warmly at her. âThank you, sweetheart. That was very nice of you to do that.â Then, he turned to you. âAre you hungry?â
You shrugged. âI can eat.â
His daughter had chimed in gleefully, âIâm hungry too!â
Vinnie had sighed a fond, weary sigh and released a PokĂŠ Ball. âAlright. Let me handle it.â
Drampa materialized in the living room with a soft, crooning rumble, padding straight toward you. He sniffed your belly with slow, careful breaths before settling behind you like a massive, scaled grandfather chair.
âHello, Grampa Drampa,â you teased gently.
Vinnie had shot you a look. âPlease stop calling him that.â
âGrampa Drampa.â
Drampa puffed up with unmistakable pride and Vinnie shook his head before heading into the kitchen.
Vinnieâs daughter dropped onto her coloring books while you continued to roll your hips on the birthing ball, Drampaâs warm exhale brushing your back every so often, easing tension you didnât notice until it softened under his presence.
Another contraction crept through your abdomen, deeper this time, but still manageable. You breathed through it, and Drampa leaned in, humming his concern.
âItâs okay,â you had whispered to him. âJust a contraction.â
He reluctantly settled, though his gaze stayed pinned to you like a watchdog who refused to clock out.
By the time Vinnie returned, he had two plates balanced in one hand and a homemade electrolyte drink in the otherâcoconut water, lemon, honey, salt. Quick work, even for him.
He handed you the drink first. âSmall sips.â
It had been perfect. Bright. Cooling. Exactly what your body wanted. He handed his daughter her plate. Then, just as he went to hand you yours a contraction hit hard and sudden. Sharper. Your breath had hitched, your hand flying to your belly, and you braced.
Vinnie reacted instantly.
The plate was set aside, forgotten. He knelt behind you, palms pressing firmly into your lower back with steady counterpressure. It hadnât erased the pain, but it had softened the edges, brought your breath back to you, given you something to lean into.
When it ebbed, you slumped with relief.
You turned your head just enough to look at him. âWhereâd you learn that? You didnât come to the classesâŚâ
His expression softened into something rare, something closely held. âI learned it with my first wife,â he had said quietly.
The tenderness in his voice had meant more than the words.
You took another sip of the drink as he passed you your plateâmiraculously untouched, though Drampa looked very proud of himself for the restraint.
His daughter had watched closely. âAre you hurting?â
Her whole face had exploded with joy. âReally?!â
âMhm.â Youâd smiled. âDo you think itâll be a boy or a girl?â
âA girl!â she had declared immediately.
You had laughed. âAnd what if itâs a boy?â
Sheâd paused, thought hard, then shrugged with the earnestness only a child could manage.
âThen Iâll just teach him everything I know. So he wonât be scared.â She tapped her chest proudly. âAnd Iâll be the bestest big sister ever. Even if it's a baby brother.â
The words had melted your heart on the spot.
Behind you, Vinnie had gone still for a beat, a warm, quiet breath catching in his chest. The sound of a man overflowing with pride for her and for this moment.
He had resumed massaging your lower back while you ate, his movements steady, grounding. Drampa had curled protectively around you both. Vinnieâs daughter had drawn hearts and smiling stick figures with wild scribbles of green and gold.
L
You sat behind the front desk of Hotel Z, half-swiveled in the chair, one hand rubbing slow circles over the peak of your stomach as another Braxton Hicks tightened everything into a stone globe. You inhaled sharply, riding it out, watching your belly go firm and high under your shirt.
âOwâokay, thatâsâŚcute,â you muttered under your breath. âIf this is practice, could we maybe practice with less enthusiasm?â
The lobby was emptyâthank the Arceusâand you leaned back when the tightening eased, catching your breath.
You patted your belly. âSo what do you think, baby?â you murmured. âWill your father actually be present when you decide to make your grand entrance? Or will you wait for him like a dramatic little FlabĂŠbĂŠ?â
Another contraction seized you. Not painful, just the unwelcome clench of being nine months pregnant and thoroughly tired of it.
You winced.
âSooner rather than later, please,â you grumbled. âMamaâs done.â
Caffeine. You needed caffeine. It helped you feel awake, helped distract from the discomfort. And frankly, Urbain and the others could shove it. You were allowed one cup. One cup wasnât a crime.
You rose with a slow, irritated waddle and made your way to the small staff kitchen. Reaching for a mug in the overhead cupboard became an champion-level challenge; your belly pressed into the counter, your back arched, your arm strained.
You grunted, stretching just a little further, and then heard the front door chime open.
âOne second!â you called, still on your tiptoes, one hand braced on the counter as another tightening contraction began to roll through. âJustâhang onâtrying to get aâdamnâmugââ
A warm presence drew close behind you. A hand, large, gentle, and familiar, touched the center of your back. You paused and watched as another hand reached past you, effortlessly plucking the mug from the shelf.
You turned your head.
LysandreâLâstood there, hood down, white hair tousled from travel, his one visible eye bright and warm in a way that never stopped undoing you. His coat smelled faintly of cold air and distant places.
Your breath caught.
âYouâreââ You didnât finish the sentence. Instead, you threw your arms around him as best as your belly allowed.
He wrapped you up immediately, fully, like heâd been waiting months to feel you again.
When you pulled back, you didnât wait. You rose onto your toes and kissed him. It wasnât polite or cautious. It was hungry, and relieved. Weeks of missing him poured into the press of your mouth. He kissed you back with the same quiet urgency, a subtle tremble of restraint beneath the heat.
When you finally broke apart, you both lingered there, breathing the same air, drinking each other in with silent, reverent awe.
He cupped your cheek, brushing a thumb over your skin. His eyes flicked downward to your belly, and his expression softened. He lifted his other hand and, almost shyly, laid his palm against your stomach, thumb stroking the curve of it like something sacred.
âHow are you feeling?â he murmured, voice low and warm.
You exhaled. âPregnant. Tired. Uncomfortable. And honestly? I wasnât sure youâd make it back in time.â
He pulled you into another careful embrace, pressing a kiss to your temple. âMa lionneâŚI would never forgive myself if I missed such a precious, beautiful moment.â
Your heart stuttered at his words. âHow long are you staying this time?â you whispered.
He sank to one knee, hands smoothing over your belly as he rested his forehead against it.
âAs long as you need,â he answered. âLong enough to meet our child. Long enough to help you recover. Long enough to be present.â His fingers traced a gentle arc along your side. âI will not let you face any of it alone.â
You swallowed hard. âIâŚI have help. So many people are willingâUrbain and the others, Corbeau, Philippe, Grisham and Griselleâeveryoneâs already planning to support me. Really, we would be fine if you needed toâŚleave again.â
He looked up at you then, steady, heartfelt, and determined. âWhat kind of manâwhat kind of fatherâwould I be,â he said softly, âif I placed the burden on everyone but myself?â
You opened your mouth to argue, but he stood, brushing your hair from your face.
âIt takes a village,â he conceded. âAnd I welcome theirs.â His hand settled firmly over your belly. âBut we are the foundation upon which that village stands.â
You didnât dare argue with that. Not when his voice carried such conviction.
He changed the subject gently, brushing a knuckle under your chin.
âAnd why,â he asked quietly, âare you working?â
You groaned. âOh, not you too. Iâm just at the front desk. Sitting. The lobbyâs dead anywa.â
âAnd yet,â he murmured, âyou were straining for a mug.â
âBecause I wanted coffee, and itâs difficult when your belly is the size of a watermelon,â you said, rubbing your belly for emphasis as your poured coffee into the mug.
He sighed, fondly and long suffering, then guided you toward the front desk with a hand at your back, settling you into the chair youâd abandoned. He took the second chair beside it, slid the keyboard toward himself, and began sorting through reservation tabs like heâd never left.
You sipped your freshly poured coffee with a sigh of bliss, leaning lightly against him.
"You sure you know what you're doing?"
His eye glinted with something warm. âConsidering how often I stayed here with youâŚyes," he said, "I know more than enough.â
You hid your smile behind your mug.
And there the two of you sat as your child shifted beneath your ribs, and L worked the desk with the calm certainty of a man who finally knew exactly where he belonged.
Lance
You eased into the water, waddling carefully over the stones, your maternity bikini stretching comfortably across your swollen hips and the generous curve of your nine-month belly. The coolness bit at your ankles first, then your calves, and by the time you stepped deep enough for the water to lift youâjust slightly, just enoughâyou felt your breath spill out in a trembling, grateful sigh. The weight eased from your pelvis like a hand unclenching. You closed your eyes for a moment, letting the buoyancy cradle you, rocking your body the way you wished you could rock in bed without groaning.
When you opened them again, you skimmed your fingertips across the surface, watching the ripples wander away from you. The cavernous hush of the Dragonâs Den wrapped around youâhumid, echoing, ancientâand somewhere behind you, you heard the faint murmur of the elders finishing a debate with Lance. Heâd slipped away the moment they allowed a break, eyes already softening when he spotted you struggling with the uneven stones just outside the shallows.
Now he lingered a polite distance away, boots off, cape draped neatly across a rock, observing you with the serene pride of a man watching the sunrise and knowing it rose for him.
Something brushed your ankle.
You startled, then laughed as a small blue head popped out of the water, rounded snout nudging inquisitively toward your belly. A dratiniâthen anotherâthen a third, weaving around you in curious coils. Their smooth bodies glided along your sides, bumping you with affectionate, clumsy innocence. One poked a little too enthusiastically at your stomach, and you swatted the water lightly in mock admonishment.
You glanced toward Lance.
He stood with his arms folded. Not defensive, but warm, contemplative, his dark eyes soft with something so tender it tightened your throat. Pride was there, yes; that ancient dragon-tamer lineage glowed in him whenever he saw the swell of you. But it was gentler than that, too. Protective. Grateful. Reverent.
You lifted a hand to wave at him, pointing to the dratini swirling around you. He smiled in that rare, quiet way. Just the faintest curl at the corner of his mouth, but enough to heat your cheeks. Then he nodded for you to enjoy yourself, letting you have this moment with the his dragons. Your dragons, eventually.
Two dragonair approached next, their long bodies gliding with a grace that felt almost ceremonial. Their small wings on the side of their flicked as they circled you, assessing, understanding. One let out a low, melodic croon when its senses brushed over your belly, and the other quickly moved to intercept a dratini who tried to dart too close too fast. The chastised baby squeaked and zipped behind its siblings, chastened but clearly delighted.
You laughed softly, your hands cupping the underside of your stomach as if you were showing it off to them. âThey know,â you murmured to no one in particular. âOf course they do.â
The dragonair stayed near you like silent guardians, curling protectively, letting you drift between their coils without a hint of fear.
Eventually, a melodic call echoed through the cavern, and both dragonair lifted their heads. With elegant, synchronized movements, they herded the dratini away. The babies chattered and played even as they swam off, splashing each other until one dragonair sternly flicked its tail to restore order.
You watched them go, smiling, your body lighter in every sense.
Then warm arms slid around your middle.
You hummed, leaning instinctively back into Lanceâs chest as he waded in behind you. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up and his lower half was down to his boxer briefs, already darkened by the water. His skin was cool from the cavern air, but his hands were warm as they caressed the swell of your belly, stroking reverently from the underside to the stretched curve above your navel.
âYou looked peaceful,â he murmured, his chin settling on your shoulder. The vibration of his voice thrummed through your back. âI didnât want to disturb you.â
âYou can always disturb me,â you breathed, relaxing fully against him. His chest rose and fell with a quiet laugh, and he nuzzled the side of your neck.
âThey like you,â he said. âThe dragonair especially. Theyâre sensitive toâŚeverything.â
âEverything,â you echoed, smiling. âThey were protecting me from your rambunctious little dratini.â
âThey sensed youâre carrying something precious,â he murmured, fingertips drawing slow circles around your navel. âOur little one.â
You turned your head slightly, teasing, âA baby, Lance. Not a dratini.â
He kissed the spot just below your ear, humming against your skin. âMmm. Theyâre all the same to me.â
You melted, sighing as he kissed along your neck, unhurried, as if making sure every inch of you felt adored. His hands continued their slow, worshipful mapping of your belly, supporting its weight even here in the water, as though he refused to let even buoyancy do the job alone.
âWas the water helpful?â he asked softly.
âMore than helpful,â you murmured. âI think I could fall asleep standing right here.â
His arms tightened gently. âThen Iâll hold you.â
Your gaze drifted toward the direction the dragons had disappeared. The dratini were so cute. All of them, in a group. And then you wondered, briefly, how many Lance would want.
You felt Lanceâs lips brush against your shoulder as he hummed.
âAs many as you allow me to give you.â
Heat rushed to your face as you realized youâd said the question out loud. You pressed a hand to his forearm, trying to steady yourselfânot from the answer itself, but from the way he meant it. Devoted. Proud. A little wild, in that dragon-tamer way that lived in his blood and now lived in your future.
You let out a shaky laugh, flustered and thrilled.
âDragon tamers,â you said with a smile. âYouâre all the same.â
He chuckled, kissing your neck again, slower, deeper, his hands splaying protectively over your belly.
You let your eyes close, letting him hold you, letting the water cradle the twoâno, the threeâof you together in the quiet heart of the Dragonâs Den.
Raihan (slight nsfw, breast play, breastmilk, slight smut, MDNI, minors do not interact)
You were so done.
Overdue, swollen, stretched, and uncomfortable. Your belly felt impossibly heavy, your ribs ached, your back throbbed, and your mood sat somewhere between âweepyâ and âferal.â Raihan had been patient as a saint for weeks, but even saints had limits, and yours had clearly snapped somewhere around the fourth day past your due date.
You pressed a hand to your lower back, scowling at your belly. âOf course itâd be your child that decides to be overdue,â you snapped. âStubborn and dramatic, just like their dad.ââ
Raihan leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, wearing that smug little grin he seemed born with. Light caught the edge of his orange headband; his hoodie hung loose, showing a sliver of toned stomach as he shifted.
âBabe,â he said, smiling with infuriating confidence, âmy kidâs not late. Theyâre just preparing a grand, perfectly timed entrance. Like me.â
You snorted, before easing yourself down onto the bed with a dramatic groan. âWhatever. I just want this baby out, now.â You propped yourself up on some pillows.
âWell,â he drawled, âthere are some methods.â
You glared at him over your belly. âNo.â
âYou donât know which ones I mean yet.â
âI do, actually.â
He sauntered closer, grin widening. âSex helps induce labor. Orgasms help. The oxytocin from the orgasms helps. Nipple stimulation helpsââ
âRaihanâŚâ
âWhat?â His voice was all faux-innocence, eyes bright with laughter. âIâm just listing your options.â
You covered your face with both hands. âI donât even want to be touched right now. I feel so gross.â
âUh-huh...â
âSeriously! Iâm huge, everything is swollen, I have stretch marksââ
He blinked. Once. Twice.
Then scoffed.
âSoooooo?â He dropped onto the bed beside you, leaning back on his hands, looking you over with frank appreciation. âYou think any of that makes you less sexy? Babe, your body is literally making a human. Thatâsââ He whistled. ââkinda the hottest thing Iâve ever seen.â
You turned your head away, cheeks warm. âYou donât have to lie to make me feel better.â
That finally snapped whatever thin leash heâd kept on himself.
Raihan shifted closer, kneeling beside you, bracing one hand on the mattress as the other slid under the heavy swell of your breast.
âI donât lie, babe,â he murmured, leaning down. âAnd I donât beg, either. But for months now Iâve been trying to be good because you didnât want touching. But look at what thatâs done.â
His hand curved more firmly around your breast, thumb brushing the sensitive skin where it peeked from your maternity bra.
âYou donât even see what I see.â
âWhich isâŚ?â Your voice trembled as his breath fanned your chest.
âMmh.â His lips grazed your skin before he spoke, voice low and hungry. âA goddess.â
Your let out a sharp, breathless laugh.
âYouâve gotten softer,â he whispered against your skin, âcurvierâŚyour boobs have been driving me insane for weeksâand you donât even wanna know what I think about your hips and butt.â
You gasped when he pulled the cup of your bra aside, exposing your swollen breast, heavier and fuller than it had ever been. Raihan sucked in a quiet breath at the sight.
âArceus,â he muttered, voice roughened. âLook at you.â
âRaihan waitââ
He didnât. Instead, his lips closed around your nipple in a slow, deep suck.
Your head fell back on instinct, a desperate sound slipping from your lips as the sensation zinged from your breast straight down between your legs. He hummed as he tasted the faint sweetness of early milk, hands bracing your sides to keep you steady.
He pulled back just enough to murmur.
âBabyâs gonna have these all to themselves soon.â His tongue flicked lazily over your nipple before he sealed his mouth over it again. âIâm already jealous.â
You whimpered weakly, fingers slipping into his hair. He sucked harder, slow and rhythmic, dragging milk to the surface with a low, approving growl when a bead reached his tongue.
âMmfâyeah. Thatâs it. Sweet.â He kissed your breast, lips shining. âHow do you expect me not to want you?â
Your thighs pressed together without your permission.
âRaihanâŚI donâtâI donât feelââ
âBeautiful?â he supplied gently, kissing the underside of your breast. âSexy? Wanted?â
He rose up over you, one knee between your thighs, one hand cupping your cheek.
âYouâre the hottest youâve ever been,â he said simply. âAnd I want you. Every new curve. Every mark. Every part pregnancy gave you.â
Your lips parted. âBut sexââ
âDoesnât have to be rough.â His nose brushed yours. âDoesnât even have to be complicated. Just let me touch you. Let me make you feel good. Let me remind you who you are.â
His thumb stroked your cheek.
âAnd if this helps bring the baby...then that's just a bonus.â
You laughed, a small and shaky sound, and his smile softened.
You nodded your consent and Raihan immediately kissed you again. Slow, deep, hungry without being overwhelming. His hand returned to your breast, thumbing your nipple right before he took it into his mouth again. Pleasure flooded through you so suddenly you gasped, hips lifting instinctively.
A tight cramp gripped your belly.
Then another.
You gasped, clutching his shoulder. âOhâRaiâwaitââ
He pulled back instantly, concern flickering through his cyan eyes. âToo much?â
âNoâno, itâsââ You waited, breathing deeply. âItâŚfelt different.â
âHow different?â
Another cramp rolled throughâsharper, lower, wrapping around your pelvis like a slow tightening rope. You gasped and squeezed his hand hard enough to make him inhale.
This time he didnât tease.
He steadied you immediately, free hand smoothing up your spine as he kissed your forehead.
âAlright, gorgeous. EasyâŚIâve got you.â
You breathed through it, waiting for the wave to ebb. And just as it passed, you felt a soft, internal popâsubtle but unmistakableâfollowed by a slow spreading warmth between your thighs.
Your breath hitched. âRaiâŚ?â
âYeah?â
ââŚI think my water just broke.â
You werenât soaked. Just a gentle, steady trickle warming your skin, slipping down your inner thigh. You touched your shorts, blinked, then laughed breathlessly.
âWell,â you exhaled, âI think itâs happening.â
For a moment he looked stunned. Wide-eyed, mouth parted, then a slow, exhilarated grin split across his face.
âNo way.â He squeezed your hips, thrilled. âI actually did it? I kicked off your labor?â
You swatted his arm. âDonât brag about that.â
But he only kissed your cheek, giddy and soft, voice low with reverence and excitement as he wrapped an arm around you.
âToo late, babe.â He pressed your forehead to his.
âLetâs get ready to meet our kid.â
Kabu
The air outside Motorstoke was warmânot hot, not stifling, just comfortably sun-soaked, with that faint metallic tang of the city in the distance and the gentler scent of open fields drifting in from beyond the industrial walls. You walked slowly along the outskirts, one hand supporting the underside of your belly as it rose and fell with your waddling steps. Kabu walked beside you, matching your pace with disciplined precision, though the concern pinched gently at the corners of his eyes every time you exhaled a little harder.
âAre you certain this isnât too much?â he asked for the third time in five minutes. His voice was calm, but the subtle tension betrayed himâthe careful angle of his shoulders, the way his right hand hovered near your elbow as if ready to catch you should gravity suddenly betray you.
You laughed. âKabu, Iâm walking, not lifting weights.â
His mouth twitched, fighting a smile. âYou were lifting weights in your second trimester.â
âAnd Iâm not now,â you said, giving him a pointed look. âThanks to the doctor.â
He chuckled softly, shaking his head as though both amused and helpless in the face of your logic. âEven soâŚyouâre in your final stretch. You donât need to push yourself.â
âIâm not pushing,â you reassured him. âWalking is good for me. Good for the baby. Good for labor prep.â You nudged him gently with your elbow. âIf anything, youâre the one who looks ready to break a sweat worrying.â
âWorrying keeps people alive,â he said, deadpan, though his gaze warmed with affection. âEspecially when those people insist on being active days before their due date.â
You walked a few more paces, watching the distant factory lights blink like slow fireflies, before glancing up at him.
âKabu?â
âHm?â
âAre you ready?â
He slowed just slightly, his expression softening with a level of tenderness he reserved only for you. âReady,â he repeated quietly. âItâs a strange thing. I never imagined having a child at my age. Not because I did not want one, but because I assumed life had moved past that chapter.â He folded his hands behind his back as he walked, posture straight, eyes forward. âButâŚI find myself looking forward to meeting out child more with every day that passes.â
Your heart clenched sweetly.
âGood,â you murmured. âBecause ready or not, this kid is coming soon.â
He laughed, warm and low. âThat they are.â
âAnd at least we donât have to worry about press,â you added. âPractically the entire Galar League is on our side.â
He made a thoughtful sound. âYesâŚNessa has been particularly vocal.â
âProtective,â you corrected. âEspecially of you. Youâre basically everyoneâs collective dad, Kabu.â
He sighed, a long-suffering but affectionate exhale. âThat is what they tell me.â
âAnd Milo already tried to schedule babysitting time.â
Kabu nodded. âHe has. Twice.â
âAnd if any magazine tries to stir up drama?â you prompted with a grin.
His smile turned knowing. âNessa will handle them.â
âSheâll destroy them,â you amended.
âShe will,â he agreed serenely.
You snorted, and then suddenly paused, hand flying to your belly.
Kabu instantly stepped closer. âWhat is it? A contraction?â
âNo,â you said softly. âJustâhere.â
You took his hand and guided it to the side of your belly. A moment later, your child delivered a firm, rolling kick right into his palm.
Kabuâs breath caught. A soft, stunned inhale. His eyes widened with awe, and then gentled even further than before, lines softening, posture melting with something reverent. He stroked the spot slowly, thumb tracing the curve where your skin shifted.
ââŚThey are strong,â he said quietly.
âThey get it from you.â
A flush rose on his cheekbones, faint but noticeable. âI think they get it from their mother.â
The baby nudged again, smaller this time, and Kabu smiled as he leaned in to press a kiss to your temple.
You resumed your walk a moment later, slower now, hand in his, his thumb brushing the back of your knuckles with each step. The sun dipped a little lower, painting Motorstokeâs metal skyline in soft gold.
You leaned into him, warm and content, belly full with life, heart full with love.
Leon
Leon lay sprawled beside you in bed, half-propped on one elbow, his other hand resting warmly over the highest curve of your belly. Your shirt was bunched beneath your ribs, and the blanket had pooled around your hips, leaving your pregnant stomach entirely exposed in the soft, early-morning light filtering through the curtains.
His palm moved in slow, reverent circles. Not rushed. Not distracted. Just present. Fully, blissfully present, in a way he rarely had the luxury of being when he was Galar's Champion.
âYâknowâŚâ he murmured, voice thick with sleep and happiness, âIâm starting to think they kick more when Iâm around.â
You snorted lightly. âThatâs because you talk so loud.â
He gasped dramatically, hand flying to his chest. âLoud? Me?â Then he grinned, leaning down to kiss your belly. âOi, kiddo. Did you hear that? Your mumâs making wild accusations again.â
Your child answered with a firm thump beneath his lips.
Leon froze, then broke into the softest, most radiant smile. One of those private ones he never gave reporters or fans. This one was only for you, for your baby, for this moment.
âOh, theyâre a fighter already,â he whispered against your skin.
You brushed a hand through his messy purple hair, wilder than usual since paternity leave meant no morning stylists, no forced photo ops, no endless battles.
Just Leon.
Your Leon.
He melted into your touch, eyes closing briefly before he lifted his head to look at you. âYou doing alright? Not too uncomfortable?â
âIâm okay,â you said. âBig. Sore. Tired. Ready to be done.â You paused. âBut okay.â
Leon moved up to lie beside you, chest pressed lightly against your shoulder, his hand still cupping your belly like he didnât want to let go. âI canât believe weâre this close,â he breathed. âIt still feels surreal. All those years battling, climbing leagues, running Galar⌠and thisâŚâ His fingers spread, feeling another kick. ââŚthis feels bigger than any title I ever won.â
âYou always wanted kids,â you reminded him softly.
âI do.â His amber eyes warmed. âBut wanting something and having it become real? And with you?â He kissed your cheek. âIâm the luckiest man in the whole region. Maybe all regions. Sinnoh includedâand those guys are tough competition.â
You laughed, leaning into his forehead.
âAnd hey,â he added, thumb brushing stretch marks like they were something precious, âyouâre gorgeous, by the way.â
âLeon.â You rolled your eyes, though heat curled in your chest. âI look like a Snorlax trying to cosplay an egg.â
He tutted, offended. âWrong. Absolutely wrong. You look like someone carrying our future. Our whole world.â His hand slipped to the underside of your belly, rubbing. âAnd youâre radiant. Strong. Beautiful.â Then, softer: âIâm so proud of you.â
Your breath caught, but before you could respond, the baby delivered another strong shove.
Leon lit up again, laughing under his breath. âThere they go. Thatâs my kid.â
âYou mean our kid,â you corrected.
âYeah.â He kissed your belly again, longer this time, lingering. âOur kid.â
He adjusted himself, sliding one leg over yours to bracket you comfortably, his chest warm at your back as he spooned around your pregnancy-curved body. One arm slipped beneath your head, the other cradling your belly from behind, holding you and the baby at once.
âIâm glad I took leave,â he murmured into your shoulder. âChairman stuff will wait. Galar will wait. The whole world can wait.â
You smiled softly. âYou deserve the break.â
âI do,â he admitted. âBut more than thatâŚI didnât want to miss a single moment of this. Not one bump, not one kick, not one late-night craving where you make me navigate Wyndon with no sense of directionââ
âYou get lost in your own house.â
He groaned. âDonât remind me.â Then he kissed your neck. âBut at least now Iâve got something perfect to come home to.â
You covered his hand on your belly, weaving your fingers through his.
The baby kicked again, two little nudges, and you both felt them at once.
Leon exhaled, long and full of wonder. âYeah,â he whispered. âIâm ready, love. More than ready.â
And with his arms wrapped around you, his hand stroking your belly, and his breath warm against your skin, the two of you lay thereâquietly, peacefullyâwaiting for the moment that would change everything.
Piers
Team Yell had always been loud. But this? This was something else entirely.
You waddled down the narrow street toward Spikemuthâs main square, one hand braced beneath your belly, the other gripping a grocery bag. You were in the final stretch. So close to your due date you could practically hear your ankles begging for mercy. And for the past week, everywhere you went, two or three (or six) members of Team Yell had been âcoincidentallyâ stationed nearby.
Walking behind you. Walking ahead of you. âClearing pathsâ for you. Shouting at people who got too close. Running interference on literal strollers.
And the final straw?
One of them had tried to body-check a mailbox that âlooked suspicious.â
Enough was enough.
You stormedâwell, waddled with righteous furyâinto Piersâ rundown venue-turned-living-room, where he sat on a couch restringing his guitar.
âPIERS.â
He looked up instantly, ponytails swaying. âOi. Hey, darlinâ. You, uh⌠you good?â
âNo,â you snapped. âWhy are there Team Yell members tailing me everywhere I go?â
Piers blinked. âWhat?â
âYou heard me,â you said, tossing the bag down. âEverywhere. Grocery store. PokĂŠmon Center. The bathroom, Piers. The bathroom.â
He blinked again, then frowned. âI didnât tell âem to do that.â
âThen maybe theyâve gone rogue?â
He set his guitar down slowly, rubbing the bridge of his nose. âI swear, I didnât. Iâve been tryinâ to get âem to tone it down since Marnie took over. Why would Iâ?â
Marnieâs voice came from the hallway, flat as a Flapple pancake. âBrother. Please stop lying.â
Piers stiffened. âIâm not lyinâ! I didnât ask âem to follow her!â
âYou didnât have to,â Marnie said, walking in with her arms crossed. âTheyâre reacting to how weird youâve been lately.â
You arched a brow. âWeird?â
Piers sank lower into the couch like someone had unplugged his spine. ââŚDefine weird.â
Marnie raised a dry finger. âYouâve been pacing.â
âCanât a man pace in his own home?â
âYouâve been pacing,â Marnie repeated, âwhile muttering things like âdue any day nowâ and ânot on my watchâ and âif anyone so much as looks at her wrong Iâll ban hexagon patterns from this town.ââ
Piers groaned into his hands. âThat got taken outta context.â
âOh?â you asked, hands on your hips. âAnd what context would that be?â
âI dunno,â he muttered. âHexagon patterns are creepy. Too many angles. And they're related to Dynamaxing, which you know I hate.â
Marnie rolled her eyes. âPiers. Just tell her.â
Piers sighed, a long, moody, reluctant exhale that flowed out of him like leaking fog.
âFine.â He stood, shoving his hands deep in his pockets, hair falling forward as he avoided your gaze. âIâmâŚanxious.â
You softened, just a bit. âAnxious?â
âI know! Iâm supposed to be the cool one!â he snapped, cheeks flushing. âBut yer due dateâs almost here, and youâre walkinâ around all tired and sore, and I canât sing to scare people off, so what do I have?! Team Yell! The only tool in my toolbox!â
âYou used them,â Marnie deadpanned, âlike human traffic cones.â
Piers pointed at her. âThey make good cones!â
You pinched the bridge of your nose. âPiers, sweetheart, I appreciate the concern, truly. But Team Yell isâŚa lot. Or donât you remember how obnoxious they were when Marnie took on the gym challenge?â
âI know,â he mumbled, scuffing his boot. âI know. I justââ He finally looked at you, and his tired, punk-rock gloom cracked open into raw sincerity. âI donât wanna miss anything. And I donât want nothinâ happeninâ to you or the kid. Thatâs all.â
You stepped closer, belly brushing his front, and captured one of his hands.
He went still, shoulders dropping.
âIâm okay,â you said softly. âReally. And I love that youâre worried. But maybeâŚnot the entire fan club following me into public bathrooms?â
He winced. âThey didnâtâ?â
âThey did.â
âIâll fix it,â he said instantly. âIâll yell at Yell. Make them un-Yell for a while.â
Marnie nodded toward the door. âIâll help. They listen to me.â
âThank you,â you said, exhaling.
Piers sighed, then brushed his fingers along the top curve of your bellyâtentative and gentle, in a way only a man who secretly had the softest heart in Galar could manage.
âYouâre almost there, yeah?â he murmured.
âYeah,â you whispered.
The baby kicked beneath his palm, and Piersâ entire face lit with quiet wonder. His thumb traced the movement, slow and careful.
âOi,â he whispered to your belly. âSettle down in there. Donât freak your mum out.â
You snorted. âThis from the man deploying a personal militia around me.â
He groaned. âPlease never call them that.â
You rose on your toesâwell, closer to your toesâand kissed his cheek.
His ears went bright pink.
âPiers,â you said softly, âyouâre gonna be a great dad.â
ââŚYeah?â he asked, voice cracking just slightly.
âYeah.â
He swallowed. Looked away. Muttered something like âdonât start cryinâ, not in front of Marnie,â to himself.
Marnie stepped out, giving you two a moment. âIâll handle Team Yell. You just⌠breathe or something.â
You laughed.
Piers wrapped an arm carefully around your waist, fitting himself into your side with all the awkward tenderness of a punk rocker who loves harder than he knows how to say.
âNo more bathroom followers,â he promised.
âThank you.â
âBut Iâm still checkinâ on you,â he added quickly, ââcause I worry and thatâs not gonna stop.â
You leaned into him. âGood.â
He rested his forehead against yours, eyes half-lidded, voice low.
âAny day now, huh?â
âAny day,â you echoed with a nod.
He squeezed your hip with a shaky breath.
âAlright then,â he whispered. âLetâs meet this kid.â
Hassel
Songs referred to:
and
The celloâs voice filled the living roomâwarm, resonant, and aching with emotion in a way only late pregnancy and the melody could coax out of you.
Your bow glided across the strings. Each slow and deliberate stroke vibrated through your chest and down into the heavy cradle of your belly. The song, a simple melody played from a single scale, had always been reflective, but tonight, with your hands curved over your instrument and your belly rounding outward in its final stretch, it felt like a memory you hadnât lived yet.
Your eyes fluttered shut, your breath syncing with the swells of the melody.
The front door opened softly.
You didnât hear it over the music, but Hassel did hear you. He stopped in the entryway, frozen by the sight before him.
You, illuminated by the soft lamplight, cello nestled between your knees, skin glowing, posture curved protectively around the child you carried, and playing with a rawness that made his throat tighten immediately.
He set his bag down silently. One hand lifted to his mouth, already emotional, already fighting the threat of tears. He took a long breath, gathering himself, then stepped quietly into the room.
Your fingers shifted positions, bow trembling into the high notes of the scale.
Hassel didnât speak. He simply moved to the piano, your upright, the one he insisted belonged in your home because âevery house with love needs a place for musicâ, and sat down.
He waited for the right measure.
And then, he joined you.
Soft, steady chords blossomed under your melody. Notes braided together, piano and cello weaving into the duet that the song had written like a promise, like a memory of two souls meeting in the middle.
Your eyes opened, and you met his gaze as your bow faltered just onceânot because you lost your place, but because emotion surged so thick you could barely breathe.
But you kept playing. And he kept playing.
And for those brief minutes, the world was just sound and breath and shared loveâtwo artists, two hearts, and one unborn child listening from the warmth of your womb.
When the last note faded, you lowered your bow, chest rising and falling.
Hassel exhaled shakily and wiped at the corner of one eye. âOh,â he whispered with a strained laugh, âmy dear, my heart, I hadnâtâŚI hadnât expected to walk into something so beautiful.â
You smiled. âWelcome home.â
He set his hands in his lap, still trembling faintly. âYour tone tonightâit wasâŚâ His voice broke. âIt was full of so much feeling. Iâpardon me.â He cleared his throat. âIt moved me.â
âYouâre home early,â you said, shifting slightly on the bench, belly pressing against the cello. âLong day?â
âMmm,â he hummed. âRewardingly long. Though nothing as rewarding as this.â
He studied you a moment, gaze tender, lingering on the swell of your belly. He reached out and brushed a thumb along the side of it, a simple gesture, but reverent enough to melt you.
âWould youâŚâ His voice softened further. ââŚplay a duet with me?â
You snorted lightly. âHass, you know Iâm not a pianist.â
âYou are learning,â he corrected in that gentle, earnest teacher voice of his. âAnd you are doing wonderfully.â
âOnly because of you. And I fumble even with your teachings.â
He clasped his hands in dramatic pleading. âThen fumble with me. It is good for the baby to hear us play together.â
You sighed, laughing as you carefully set the cello aside. âThatâs emotional manipulation.â
âIs it working?â he asked hopefully.
You rolled your eyes. âFine. But Iâm playing the higher part.â
He lit up, golden eyes bright as autumn sunlight. He scooted over immediately, making room on the piano bench and offering you his hand as you waddled over.
Once you were seated, he adjusted the bench height, then placed the sheet music gently in front of you both.
âFor River (Sarah & Tommyâs Version)â
He nodded for you to begin.
Hassel rested his hands on the keys first, inhaling softly. Then he played the opening barsâthose gentle, descending chords that sounded like a memory being exhaled. His touch was delicate but sure, each note weighted with feeling, his left hand shaping the simple lower line with the tenderness of someone offering a path forward.
Only once the melody settledâfamiliar, wistful, and comfortingâdid he nod for you to join.
You placed your fingers on the keys and entered with the higher melody, careful and a little timid. Hassel shifted instantly to accommodate you, his harmony folding beneath your line like a steady arm guiding your steps.
When the melody climbed, you moved toward the upper register. Hassel anticipated it perfectly, sliding his left hand beneath your right in the soft, practiced crossover this song demanded. Your knuckles brushed lightly each time your hands passed, a quiet intimacy woven into the music.
The two parts braided together: your hesitant, earnest melody and his warm, anchoring harmony. Whenever you faltered, Hassel adjusted without missing a beat, easing you back into rhythm with the subtle confidence of a master musician who adored teaching you.
And soon, even with your rounded belly nudging the edge of the piano the two of you sounded less like separate players and more like one shared voice.
You laughed once when you hit a wrong chord.
He laughed too, soft, and charmed. âItâs wonderful,â he murmured. âYouâre wonderful.â
Halfway through the piece, something nudged your lower bellyâa firm, rolling kick. You gasped, hand flying to the movement.
Hasselâs playing stopped immediately. âIs everythingâ?â
âHere,â you said breathlessly, taking his hand and guiding it.
The baby kicked again, right beneath his palm.
Hassel froze. Then he choked on a breath, eyes flooding instantly. âOh. OhâŚâ His voice cracked as tears welled. âTheyâŚthey heard us. Theyâre responding to the musicââ
âHassel,â you laughed, reaching up to wipe a tear. âDonât start crying.â
âI cannot help it,â he sniffed. âThis isâthis is the most beautiful moment of my life.â
He leaned forward and pressed a slow, adoring kiss to your belly. Another to your hand. Then one more to your lips, gentle and warm.
His hand never left your stomach, fingers tracing the life inside you with wonder.
âShall we continue the song?â he whispered.
You nodded, pressing your forehead lightly to his.
âTogether,â you said.
âAlways,â he replied.
And you resumed your duet, the music echoing softly through the home youâd filled with love.
Brassius
Brassius insisted the studio be warm, because, as he claimed, âthe divine vessel of creation must not shiver.â
You sat upon a low chaise draped with soft moss-colored fabric, your flowing maternity dress pooling around your hips in gentle waves. Light makeup, hair loose, belly round beneath the fabricâs gentle stretch. You looked serene, radiant in that quiet way late pregnancy brings.
Brassius stood at his easel some feet away, vine-whip belt hanging loosely at his hip, green hair a wild, thorny halo of manic artistry. His grey eyesâsunken, intense, and ever-seekingâmoved between you and the page with an almost holy focus.
He drew quickly at first, decisive lines carving out the shape of your posture, the curve of your belly, the tilt of your head. Then he slowed, and then softened, his expression dissolving into one of awestruck reverence.
âMy beloved,â he murmured, voice low and breathy, âyour form isâŚahâavant-garde in the purest sense.â
You smiled. âIs that good or bad today?â
âGloriously good.â He pressed a hand to his chest as if steadying his heart. âYou are the very essence of life undone and remade. I can scarcelyââ He paused, blinking hard. ââscarcely capture the fullness of your beauty. It is almostâŚâ His breath hitched. âOverwhelming.â
You lifted an eyebrow. âBrassius. Breathe.â
He obeyed, inhaling sharply through his nose. âYes. Yesâof course. I must stay grounded! The muse demands discipline.â
He bent again over the sketch, pencil sweeping in long, emotional strokes. His gaze lingered on your belly, reverent and humbled.
âYou carry creation itself,â he whispered, more to himself than to you. âEvery line, every contourâit is a sculpture of nature in motion. A masterpiece even time cannot dare diminish.â
You snorted softly. âYouâre so dramatic.â
âDramatic?â He straightened, looking personally wounded. âThis?â He gestured at you with both hands, vine belt swaying. âThis is the most profound, the most stirring tableau an artist could hope to behold. Your very silhouette is poetry rendered in flesh.â
You chuckled. You had long ago stopped trying to temper his theatrics. Now, you adored them.
But after a while, he stilled. His pencil hovered in midair. His brows knit.
You saw the subtle signs immediately: his shoulders drooping, breath softening, concern quickening underneath. Then his gaze slid to you, lingering on the way your hand pressed absently to your lower back, the slight slump of your posture.
âMy love,â he murmured, setting his pencil down with sudden urgency, âyou are tiring.â
You exhaled, shifting, a soft guilty smile on your lips. âA little.â
He was across the room in moments, fluid and purposeful, his hands gentle on your shoulders as he helped you change position.
âNo more sitting like this. Unacceptable.â He fussed with the pillows, rearranging them into a structure that looked more architectural than supportive, and it worked, cradling your spine perfectly. âYour comfort is not merely importantâit is sacrosanct.â
You laughed as he hurried off. âBrassius, Iâm literally just sitting up. Weâre just taking a small breakâ
âYes, yesâprecisely why you must have refreshments worthy of the moment!â
He returned with a chilled lemon water, two shortbread cookies, and the tiniest vase holding a single Sunflora petal.
âFor ambiance,â he said gravely.
You accepted the glass, sipping gratefully. âThank you.â
He sat beside you on the chaiseâs edge, hands folded, studying your belly with quiet awe. His voice, when it came, was softer. Still dramatic, but tinted with sincerity deep enough to still the heart.
âYou have given my art new purpose,â he said. âBut more than thatâmore than muses or masterpiecesâyouâve given my life a joy I did not realize I was permitted to feel.â
His hand hovered before settling on the side of your belly, thumb brushing tenderly.
âYou, and the child we await⌠you are both my magnum opus.â
He leaned down, placing a reverent kiss to your belly. Then another. Then one more, lingering.
The baby shifted beneath his touch, and he inhaled sharply.
âSee that?â you teased. âThe baby loves you too.â
âOf course they do,â he whispered, voice trembling as he rested his forehead against your belly. âHow could they not? Their mother is the most radiant being in all of Paldea.â
You cupped his cheek until he looked up at you. Then you kissed himâsoft, warm, and lingering.
He sighed into it, utterly undone.
When you pulled back, Brassius exhaled shakily. âLet us continue the portrait later,â he said. âFor nowâŚall I wish is to worship the miracle before me.â
His fingers brushed your belly, tracing curves no sculpture could capture.
Larry
You drifted awake to the smell of foodâwarm, savory, comforting in a way only home-cooking could be. It coaxed your eyes open more gently than any alarm ever had. For a moment, you lay still, curled on your side on the couch, one hand cupped beneath the firm roundness of your belly. Everything ached: hips, ribs, lower back, feetâevery joint broadcasting a weary little complaint.
You hadnât meant to fall asleep. Youâd meant to take care of dinner the way you always did because Larry worked himself half to death most days. But late-pregnancy exhaustion had other plans.
You pushed up slowly, groaning under the weight of your belly as it shifted. And over the quiet hum of the stove, you heard some muttering.
ââŚthought I bought the low-sodium one.â
Larryâs voice. Dry. Resigned.
âWell. Too late now.â
You smiled. Then, softly and sleepy, waddled toward the kitchen.
Larry stood at the stove in his suit pants and shirtsleeves, jacket draped over a chair, tie loosened. His square-pupiled eyes were half-lidded in that perpetual state of exhaustion that was just Larry, but there was something different tonight. Something softer around the edges. He looked calm. Focused. Maybe even a little proud of himself.
And he didnât notice you right away, too absorbed in flipping something sizzling in a pan.
You cleared your throat gently.
He turned. His brows lifted a millimeter.
âOh. Youâre awake.â He sounded relieved. âGood timing. Dinnerâs almost done.â
You blinked at him. âYou cooked?â
âYes,â he said plainly. Then, after a beat: ââŚSomeone had to.â
You laughed, rubbing your sore belly. âIâm sorry. I was going to.â
âYou fell asleep sitting upright,â he deadpanned. âI decided not to wake you. Thought you might throw something at me.â
You rolled your eyes fondly. âOnly if you deserved it.â
âThatâs what I was afraid of,â he said, turning the stove down. But his voice warmed, quiet but unmistakable. âYouâve beenâŚtired. More than usual. I can handle dinner.â
Your heart squeezed. âBut you worked all day.â
âI work all days,â he said. âThis isnât different.â
âBut your job is exhausting.â
âThatâs why Iâm practiced,â he replied, then cracked the faintest smile. âBesidesâŚGeeta already approved my paternity leave. Doesnât want me keeling over before the baby arrives.â
You snorted. âSee, she likes you too much to let you collapse.â
Larry gave a small sigh, somewhere between beleaguered and touched. âShe likes you, actually. Said if she sees you waddling around the League offices again, sheâll ârelieve me of duty by force.â Her words.â
You covered your face, giggling.
Then he gestured to the kitchen table. âSit. Carefully.â
You sat with a groan, belly settling like a boulder in your lap. Larry plated the foodâsimple, comforting, and heartyâand set it before you, the steam curling upward like an invitation.
You took a bite. âLarryâŚthis is good.â
He lifted a shoulder. âItâs food.â
âItâs good food,â you insisted.
He looked away, ears faintly pink. âIâŚlooked up some things.â
You reached out, brushing your fingers against his wrist. âThank you.â
Larry finally met your eyes and something in him softened, like the slow unfurling of a flower bud.
âYouâre carrying my kid,â he murmured. âLeast I can do is make sure you eat dinner.â
Your throat tightened. He wasnât poetic. He wasnât dramatic. But the ways he loved you were steady and practical and so deeply him.
After a moment, he pulled up a chair beside you, sitting with a small sigh, knees brushing yours.
âYou knowâŚâ you said between bites, teasing gently, âyouâre going to have actual time off soon. Paternity leave. ImagineâLarry, the Medali Gym Leader and Paldea Elite 4, relaxing.â
He stared at you like youâd told him heâd won the lottery. Or been sentenced to death. Hard to say with Larry.
ââŚI donât know what Iâm supposed to do with time off.â
âRest?â you suggested. âSpend time with your newborn child? Sleep in?â
He blinked slowly. ââŚSounds exhausting.â
You laughed so hard you felt your belly tighten.
Larryâs expression flickered with concern. âYou okay? Braxton Hicks again?â
âYeah,â you breathed, rubbing your belly. âJust a practice contraction.â
He placed a careful hand over your bump, thumb brushing small arcs. âTell them to knock it off,â he muttered. âItâs dinner time.â
You snickered. âIâll try.â
He kept his hand there a little longer, then leaned in and kissed your temple. A small kiss. A tired kiss. A perfect Larry kiss.
âEat,â he murmured. âThen lie down again. Iâll clean up.â
âYou cooked and youâre doing dishes?â
âYes,â he said matter-of-factly. âIâm a responsible adult.â
You laughed again, leaning your head on his shoulder.
Larry exhaled slowly, contentedly, letting the warmth of you and the soft rise of your belly settle against him.
âGet used to this,â you teased. âYouâre going to be a dad any day now.â
He nodded, eyes softening in that quiet way only you ever saw.
âI know,â he said softly. âIâmâŚlooking forward to it.â
Steven Stone
The contractions were coming harder now. Sharp, deep, the kind that made you fold over the kitchen table and breathe like your life depended on it. Your midwife was on her way. Steven had promised heâd be back before things âtruly began.â And instead?
You had Wallace.
Wallace, the flamboyant and handsome gym leader of Sootopolis.
Wallace, who was currently pacing your living room like a Milotic with a tangled antenna, cape fluttering dramatically, hands clasped in prayer-like despair.
âYou should be in a hospital,â he declared for the eighth time. âWith monitors! Professionals! Safety!â
You gripped the edge of the table as another contraction rolled through you. âFor the last timeâWallaceâwe chose a home birth.â
âYes, yes, I KNOW,â he said, throwing his arms up. âBut Steven isnât here, and youâreâyouâre making noises that sound likeâŚlikeâŚa dying wailord.â
"...I'm gonna pretend you didn't just say that."
"Well, it's true."
âOh, for the love ofââ You forced yourself upright, panting. âWallace, if you donât stop talking I swear I will THROW YOU OUT.â
Wallace gasped as if personally attacked. âYou are lashing out. You are in pain. I understand. I forgive you.â
âI donât WANT forgivenessââ Another, sharper contraction slammed into you, cutting the words in half. âI wantâquietââ
Wallace fluttered to your side, hands flapping uselessly. âDo you need water? Ice? A towel? A battalion of nursesââ
âI need Steven,â you hissed.
âAnd I deeply agree with you!â Wallace nodded frantically. âI simply donât know where the man is. Of all the times, why does he insist on spelunking now! He has a very pregnant wifeâhe should be spelunking HEREââ
Your back spasmed, and you gasped, bracing yourself against the counter.
And then, a steady, warm hand touched the center of your spine.
You whipped around, snapping, âWALLACE, I SAIDâ!â
But it wasnât Wallace.
Steven stood there, calm as moonlight, his silver-blue hair damp from the drizzle outside, his clothes slightly dusty from travel. His eyes softened immediately.
âDarling,â he murmured, smiling that small, earnest smile that could stop a stampede, âIâm here.â
Your knees nearly buckled with relief. âStevenââ
He caught you gently, supporting your weight with ease. âBreathe. Itâs alright. Iâve got you.â
The familiar scent of stone dust and soap settled your pulse. Wallace sagged dramatically into the nearest chair.
âTHANK THE OCEANS!â he cried. âPlease take over, Steven. She threatened me.â
Steven glanced at him, amused. âThanks for staying with her, Wallace. You can rest now.â
Steven guided you to the couch with slow, careful movements, one hand firm at your lower back. âI ran into the midwife on the road,â he said. âWe arrived together.â
As if on cue, she stepped inside, bag in hand. âAlright, dear,â she said, calm and practiced. âHow long has it been since the contractions got strong?â
You answered between breaths. âMaybeâŚ40 minutes?â
She nodded, easing beside you. âAnd how long apart?â
You winced through another wave. Stevenâs hand tightened protectively on your shoulder. When it passed, you managed, âAboutâŚfive minutes.â
The midwife nodded again and began setting up her equipment.
Steven brushed a lock of hair from your forehead. âYouâre doing wonderfully,â he murmured. âIâm so proud of you.â
You clung to him, burying your face against his shoulder as the midwife checked your dilation.
âWell,â she said after a moment, pleasantly surprised, âyouâre already a good six centimeters. Things are progressing beautifully.â
Wallace made a strangled noise. âSixâ? Already?! Iâ I must lie downââ
âWallace,â Steven said gently, âyou are relieved of your duties, my friend. Iâll update you when the baby arrives.â
âBless you,â Wallace breathed, grabbing his cape dramatically and stumbling toward the door. âIf you need anythingâANYTHINGâdo NOT call me, Iâll only panic.â
He vanished behind the front door.
You laughed, weakly but genuinely, and Steven kissed your temple.
âIâm here,â he whispered again, hand stroking soothing circles over your spine as another contraction built. âWeâre going to meet our child so soon. Youâre not alone for a second.â
You leaned into him, letting his steadiness anchor you.
And as the midwife prepared for the next stage, Steven held you close ready to guide you through bringing your shared child into the world.
Imagine Grace coming to set, and as everyone imagines, gets mistaken for Colt. And obviously, they just think he's Colt, playing a character and making jokes, mocking Ryder and his acting by pulling on a character of his own.
"No no no, You're not listening," Ryland laughs nervously, hands grabbing at wrists that were pulling him into a body harness. âIâm not Colt. Iâm his brother. Ryland Grace, Iâm a teacher-â
And the people pulling him into the harness just smile and chuckle, shaking their heads.
âYeah, why are your last names different then, smart guy?â One asks as they start pressing him towards the lift.Â
âWe changed them!â
And it isnât till heâs being brought a 138 ft up a lift that this might be where he dies, clutching his harness over his heart and staying silent in panic.
Meanwhile Colt strolls on to set with his glass on and coffee in hand, sidling up beside some people as they all watch the lift go up. âHmm. And I thought Iâd be getting the first jump of the day.â He joked softly, turning to look at them but only getting confused looking back. âSomething on my face? I swear this lipstick is mine-Iâm trying a new shade-â
Anyway, everyone is trying to radio to the top of the lift but they all have their radios on different channels, so Grace is standing at the top, knees shaking and panicking as he looks down at the jump they expect him to make. Had expected Colt to make and thatâs just as scary cause he thinks heâd rather be here making this jump than letting his brother do it and his brother was the professional, had probably done something like this a million times.
âAlright, you know how this is gonna go,â A warm voice on his left says, barely able to look over with his white knuckled hands on his harness as someone straps him to a carabiner and cable. The man beside him isnât looking at him, but heâs attractive. Dark hair pulled up into a bun with bangs and pieces falling out, thick glasses and endlessly voidable eyes that Grace would spend the rest of his life searching through, which may only be for the next ten minutes. A tight shirt pulled over an impressive chest and stretching the sleeves over wide arms, a black prosthetic holding a clipboard the man was more focused on.
âThey tested it a few times with your body weight, so theyâre not gonna slow fall it this time. Weâre just gonna rip it straight a few times then weâll get the rig camera to start recording. Itâll follow you down but donât worry about hiding your face, just brace, Yeah?â The attractive man said before gently slapping Rylandâs chest with the board and flashing him a slight smile with a crinkle of his eyes, so warm and dark he was half grateful that whatever forces of the universe gave him this fate decided to soften the blow with such a handsome being as his last seen face.
The man only looked to his face for half a second, already turning and looking away before stopping dead in his tracks before he even finished his first step, looking back to Rylandâs face again with a pinched expression.
Thank god thank god thank god-
âWoah- did- What the hell is going on?â The man shouted back to the team that was a bit further back, all of them looking up from the dropping rig and pulleys for the harness system. âWho the fuck is this? I was told Colt was ripping it all day.â
âHe is.â
The man looked back to Ryland, the blondeâs face contorting with relief as his hand reached out, taking the manâs flesh shoulder in his shaky hand.
He was kind too, which should be illegal when Ryland was shaking so bad he could hear his bones rattle, his saviorâs face softly shifted to sympathetic as his flesh hand came up to fist in the back of his harness.
â Iâm- Iâm not Colt.â
âNo, no, I know you're not,â The man hushes softly, pulling him from the ledge slowly, Rylandâs legs shuffling as the man wrapped his arm around his back, and Grace had never hugged himself to someone so tight in his life. âJesus fuck, all of you are blind. Someone get the lift back up here! And get on the right fucking channel! Theyâve probably been calling around for Colt.âÂ
âThank you- Oh my god, thank you. Youâre an angel,â Grace whispers shakily, gripping the back of the manâs shirt and tangling his hands in the back of the manâs own harness that was keeping him connected to the platform.
âCanât believe you made it all the way up here,â The man said, putting down the clipboard on the ground and wrapping his prosthetic arm around Graceâs back so he could unclip his carabiners form the rig, then clipping it onto the other manâs harness so they were attached. âWho are you?â
âGrace. Coltâs my brother.â He laughed a little, adrenaline spiking through him and making everything fuzzy and funny. âCripes- You're not gonna tell anyone if I pee right now, right?â
Which makes the man laugh, patting Rylandâs back. âIâm impressed you havenât already,â The man assured. âIâm Simon. Weâre calling up the elevator right now and weâll get you back on the ground, alright? You good?â
âNo.â
âThat is extraordinarily fair. Youâll feel better when we get on the lift.âÂ
It wasnât until the radio was changed to the right channel and the crew at the top of the drop confirmed that everything was alright that a very unhappy voice rang through.
âI SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD IF YOU GUYS DROP MY BROTHER IâM GONNA DROP YOU-â
âItâs fine, Colt,â Simon radioâs back, having grabbed it off one of the crew as he shuffled them both onto the lift, pale arms practically choking hims around his neck with Graceâs tight grip. âIâm bringing him down right now.â
âWHY THE HELL WAS HE UP THERE-â
âCan you save the screaming for when we get down there? Cause I'm happy to turn this radio off.â
(name) doesn't drink. the most she's ever drank was on her wedding day, and even then, she had two glasses of wine at most by the end of the night.
that being said, it was odd that leo looked at her in utter joy, holding a bottle of some sort of liquor she is not familiar of. smile so wide, it made it seem like he wanted her to join him.
the first months of the young married life has been nothing but bliss. she wouldn't trade it for anything.
"got off early, you know what means, princesa?" he kissed the top of her head with an audible, "mwuah!" as he sets his bag down, smelling of oil and grease after spending hours at the auto shop.
(name) sets her phone down, smiling. "no, i do not. please don't tell me you're about to drink before four." leo doesn't respond. he only smirks up at her as he grabs two wine glasses from the cabinet overhead.
"come on! we're young, we're free. we deserve it." (name) rolls her eyes, shaking her head. "you forget. i don't drink my leo." leo chuckles, "trust me. you'll like this one. i made sure you would. it's sweet!"
he pauses, grabbing something to open the bottle up. "you know, just like you."
she cracks a softer smile. "stop sweet talking me."
leo only sighs playfully, "ay, one of my favorite hobbies." she giggles a little louder. and he smiles. nothing beat making her laugh.
and this is how they got here. half-drunken, on the couch, and on their way to pass out till tomorrow night.
"told you it's sweet." leo speaks in a sort of mumble.
"curse you, leo." (name) weakly points a finger at him, her head resting on his shoulder.
leo lets a laugh slip, before a hiccup cracks.
"wanna see me climb that?" leo points at the tv across them.
"please don't." leo howls another laugh at his wife's response. (name) grins, playing with the ring on her finger.
"you remember when percy started dancing during the reception and his pants ripped? he didn't notice it till annie said something." (name) reminiscents in a loud laugh that her and leo continue to share.
"or the time hazel slammed face first on the cake?" leo replies, "how did that even happen??" she furrows her brows together in both confusion and amusement. leo cackles, "i don't even know!"
their laughs die down in a comforting silence, and (name) expects another joke or ruse to come out of leo's mouth when he opens it, but all he says is, "have i ever told you how much i love you?"
there is another silence.
and it breaks through a short and tiny sob. "mi sol, aww." he picks himself up, then carries her closer into his arms. "i'm sorry. i totally remember now. you're a sad drunk." he caresses her hair slowly.
"no i'm not," she says in-between sniffles. "but yes, you have." she speaks softly against his chest. he lifts her chin up, breath hitching before he pulls her into a deep kiss.
they hold it, before they eventually pull away.
"you taste like .." he licks his lips.
"yours?" she replies, cheeks flushed. he chuckles. "yeah, you do."
she presses her forehead against his, and she whispers, "i'm so lucky you asked me to share this life with you."

This is more of a confessional on my part, but Iâm still confused on why Jax in the Zooble-Abstraction scenario was explicitly sexual and flirty with Gangle.
I know each door scene was an exaggeration of his worst traits/intrusive thoughts, but I still never got the angle that Jax thought of Gangle that way.
Sure, heâs misogynistic, and an abusive character; but, aside from the fact that he goes into peopleâs rooms, and a few inappropriate jokes, I still didnât get the idea that he was sexually inclined to Gangle.
He seemed more immature, like dudes who make inappropriate jokes for the sake of, as Jax says best, being funny.
If anything, I wouldâve expected Jax to be more verbally cruel and accosting. Instead of rubbing her chin, my instinct wouldâve been to see him relentlessly kick Gangle down, trying to poke at her mask.
Maybe the scene was mainly supposed to be taken as a gag or shock value. Which, I mean, I guess. Itâs still weird in hindsight.
It just makes me wish the show either didnât include it or made that side of Jax a little more explicit.
Not in the nsfw way, but in a more critical way. Though, that is a shortcoming in itself when it comes to Jax and the way the narrative treats his behavior.
Like I donât understand. Jax is shown to do terrible things, with the narrative going out of its way to point it out, but then the final still tries to push us down a more sympathetic perspective for Jax.
Itâs kinda of a commitment issue, if I were to put it into other words.
I think Jax still couldâve worked if he were to be a bit more crude, though the show would just have to be brave enough to tackle that massive character flaw. As well as not shying away from Jax facing push back. Specifically, the show needed to accept that the audience very well could dislike him more for it.
The narrative constantly patches up his behavior with cues from the cast that the audience should be feeling sympathetic for Jax. Despite Goose saying she understood that people would either still hate or like Jax by the end of the show, the narrative is saying something else to me entirely.
This is shown most irritatingly through Pomni.
I think the overall mindscape scene is worse off because Pomni is so unaffected by the entire scene.
When I watched the movie in the theatre, some dude legit looked around and said, âwhatâs going on?â
Like dude, I feel you, because I donât know either. Iâm searching right there with you.
With each episode, I recognize that Iâm more estranged from Pomni because I donât feel like sheâs representing me, aka a decent half of the audience. At least when it comes to mindset.
A lot of people have mentioned that Pomni, outside of episode 6, doesnât challenge Jax. Or the narrative makes it seem like sheâs turning a blind eye to Jaxâs behavior.
After the movie, I kept scratching my head because I didnât understand why Pomni wasnât more disturbed by what she saw in Jaxâs mindscape.
Any interesting potential there was, was thrown out the door when she said, âyou know none of that is real, right?â
Like girl, if you donât start asking him âwth was that?â You saw him choke you, and still decided to hug him?
The show couldnât, at the least, have her meet Jax with the same energy as she did in episode 6? Not even a little bit?
Like the narrative choices are so baffling to me.
People always say, in a couple of months, all the âhatersâ are gonna be weeded out of the fandom, but honestly, I think the show is going to be viewed much less favorably. Especially with episode 9 dropping on YouTube with unlimited access to rewatched.
Once people binge the entire series, and have time to really sit with the story TADC gave us, I think people are going to be more openly critical. Especially when the audience grows up and consume other media.
Because, letâs be honest, over a third of this fandom has the same age demographic as Hazbin Hotel.
Sooner or later, the excuse that âopen to interpretation writing = good storytellingâ is going to expire. You canât make a story and have the audience write the in-betweens and ending.
Thatâs the same thing Stranger Things was criticized for doing in the final season. Being indie doesnât excuse that, and shouldnât be praised as a new standard.
Like, nothing has been more frustrating than watching people praise the final as unique and that forgotten plots were not focused on because it was âunimportant to the story and shouldnât be forced in.â
"You're still human, Simon." Simon's head whipped around to look at Grace. He was standing in that stupid cardigan again, his hands in his pockets. He was the picture of perfection, his stupid blond hair an artful mess. His stupid blue eyes so kind and warm. His stupid glasses hanging off one ear. Grace gave him a small smile. "You are still human." Grace started to walk over to him. Tears spilled from Simon's eyes.
"No, no I am not! I'm- I'm a monster! I'm a freak! I'm-" Simon froze as Grace's hand cupped his left cheek, his thumb brushing over his cheekbone, right above the teeth. Simon shook. "Grace.."
Grace's shoulder relaxed when he heard his name. "You're beautiful Simon, inside. And out." Simon dissolved into sobs, his knees giving out as he crumpled to the ground. Grace went with him, kneeing in front of him. "And I'll remind you every single day if I have to."
"Why?" He hiccuped.
"Because I can see how good you are. I know you're scared, you lived a hard life and you were put through so much. If I could I would have plucked you out of your life as soon as possible and bring you to this one. But I can't, so right here, right now, I'm willing and able to pick up the pieces and put you back together. Will you let me?"

Rating: Mature
Relationships: Ryland Grace/Simon "BloodyMary"
Summary:
And I wish I could know you much more sometimes
Wish I could do nothing with you
Sit in the yard while the day dies, leave it all on the table
And I'll say I love you and mean it this time
Say I'm sorry for everything else
If we found a way to the other side, I'd be willing and able
Simon never expected to survive the blood ocean.
What happens if Simon is found by the Eridians before Ryland Grace ever gets there?
