Towards Guidance

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say:

“The rights of one Muslim over another are five: returning the greeting of salaam, visiting the sick, attending funerals, accepting invitations, and saying yarhamuk Allah (may Allah have mercy on you) to one who sneezes.”

The Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr).

The final part of the night.

At the end of the obligatory salat.

Between the adhaan (call to prayer) and the iqaamah (the call indicating the commencement of prayer).

An hour during the night.

With the call (adhaan) for every obligatory salat.

With every rainfall.

While marching in a military formation in the cause of Allaah.

An hour during Friday. The accepted view is that it is the final hour before sunset (on a Friday), although it may be during the Friday sermon and salat (ritual prayer).

While drinking the water of zamzam with a sincere intention.

During prostration.

The transmitted supplication offered by the one awakening from sleep.

When sleeping after having been in a state of the purity, then awaking during night and supplicating.

While supplicating, “There is none worthy of worship but You, glory be to You, verily I am from among the wrong-doers.”

The supplication of a people following the death of an individual.

The supplication offered after glorifying Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet SAWS in the final ‘sitting’ during Salat.

While calling upon Allah by way of His great names by which a supplication is answered and a request fulfilled.(Asma-ul-Husna).

The sincere and heartfelt supplication of a Muslim for his (Muslim) brother.

Supplicating on the day of ‘Arafah’ (9th Dhul Hijjah) at ‘Arafat’ (located outside of Makkah and visited by pilgrims during Hajj).

Supplication during the month of Ramadan.

While an a gathering of Muslims who have congregated to remember Allah.

While 8undergoing hardship supplicating, ‘From Allah we originate and to Him we return. O Allah save me from my affliction and compensate me with good from it’.

The supplication offered when the heart becomes disinclined to Allah and sincerity weakens.

The supplication of the oppressed against those who oppress him.

The supplication of a father in favour for, or against, his son.

The supplication of a traveler.

The supplication of a person who is fasting until ‘Iftar’ (fast breaking).

The supplication of the one breaking his fast (Iftar).

The supplication of an individual compelled against his/her wishes.

The supplication of a just and upright leader.

The supplication of a reverent and pious son on behalf of his father.

The (transmitted) supplication offered directly after ‘Wudhu’ (ablution).

The supplication offered after the stoning of the small ‘Jamrah’ (a rite of Hajj).

The supplication offered after the stoning of the intermediate ‘Jamrah’ (a rite of Hajj).

The supplication offered on entering the Kabah. Whoever offers Salat within the ‘Hijr’ (curved foundation of the Kabah) is considered having offered Salat within the house itself.

The supplication offered upon ‘Safa’.

The supplication offered upon ‘Marwah’..

The supplication offered in the ‘Mash’ar-ul-Haram’ (sacred precinct – ‘Mujdalfa’).

The believer supplicates wherever he may be, in conjunction with the verse. “And when My slaves as you concerning Me, then (answer them0 that indeed I am near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me.”[Al-Baqrah 2:186].

However, it is the supplications offered at these times, in these circumstances, and at these places that require more attention.
