Where I Found Love

Having your first bully be your mother has a profoundly sad effect on the rest of your life.

Before I leave, you’re not in love with me, right? I don’t keep you up at night. You don’t fantasize about our future or want me sleeping next to you. You don’t study every message we’ve ever exchanged until your eyes become sore. You don’t do that, right?

I hope one day you look back and realize someone loved you so quietly, so fiercely, they forgot how to love themselves in the process. That someone was me.
