In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, Cerberus is the three-headed hellhound guardian to the gates of the Underworld, realm of Hades, lord of the dead. It is said that the human-survivalist paramilitary group Cerberus took their name from a manifesto made after the First Contact War, in which it was detailed that humanity needed a guardian from alien races.
In 2186, The Illusive Man, Cerberus' mysterious head of operations, was killed at the end of the Reaper War, as were all of the Reapers, through the heroic efforts of Commander Shepard.
However. Is it not common knowledge that Cerberus had more than one head?
After the Reaper War, two occurrences coincided with each other--many children were born, and exposure to element zero was unfortunately common. The biotic population among humans soared to great heights, with a staggering 50% biotic rate predicted by the year 2210.
While biotic training courses were set up for these children, it was believed that some people would begin to fear them, these unnatural beings gifted with alien ability. This was the case, though not as widespread as it was initially believed. Nevertheless, humanity did see a rift between biotic supporters and those with an anti-biotic frame of mind.
In the year 2205, reports of missing non-biotic children began to file into the Citadel Security offices, as well as other local law enforcement branches across the galaxy. Children mysteriously vanished and disappeared. Extremists began to throw blame at the pro-biotic organizations who wished only to educate and train.
In return, pro-biotic extremists began to retaliate. They claimed that the non-biotics were weak, and helpless, and not meant to survive and adapt to the spacefaring lifestyle that humanity had adopted. They were seen as inferior.
The rift grew. And lying at the base of this chasm, it is believed that the other heads of Cerberus, angry, pained, and enraged by the loss of their brother, lie in vicious wait.
In 2206, the Shadow Broker anonymously forwarded the preceding corrupt transmission to the Council and to Alliance Command. The Unified Council Fleet has been put on high alert, and curfews have been set all throughout the Citadel, Earth, and human colonies. For several weeks, this proved effective.
Until one by one, non-biotic Turian children began to disappear. As did Drell. The most recent kidnappings as of January 1, 2207, were of two girls, aged 4 and 2, Quarian and Human. Both non-biotics.
The galaxy is on high alert.
