The Pornography Conundrum I recently read about state governments passing resolutions recognizing porn as a public health crisis. What??? Seems like everything is a crisis nowadays. Is pornography addicting. It can be, just like many things have the potential to be addicting. The same could be said for gaming🕹 and watching YouTube📺. I’m more concerned about the last 2 activities than porn! How many hours a day are spent on our phones? There are positives and negatives to just about anything. So, does porn have a place🎬 Yes it does! Why not open up the conversation? Men and women watch porn for different reasons. For some couples it may add to the sexual experience and intimacy. Women have been conditioned to think of sex and their bodies as shameful or a topic that shouldn’t be discussed. Often times men know the female anatomy better than women! The medical community can be tone deaf when it comes to sexuality outside of reproduction, STDs, and cancer. I recommend erotica to my patients and encourage open communication in the bedroom. Male Erectile Clinics are popping up everywhere and saving mens sex lives with guaranteed erections in the clinic🍆 some of these clinics are now what they are calling “Lifestyle” centers. You should Problem is they are charging thousands of dollars for a service you can get for a copay at your local Urologist. The injections used to guarantee erections in the office don’t guarantee an erection when you get the medication home. I also find some patients are not being taught how to properly inject and end up in my office with complications such as Peyronie’s disease (plaque formation and curvature). Let’s face it we are all in the business of making money, but it should not be with poor outcomes or at the expense of patient safety.
