Fifteen, [the] Dragon, whatever floats your boat.
“We have made Gamma NULL Fifteen.”
you fucked up a perfectly good super-soldier is what you did.
look at him. he's got anger issues.
grudge-filled mass serial killer driven by the need to wipe out all attempts at recreating Chronos, the time-slow drug his life depends on.
^being relocated to a completely separate reality while being given a steady supply of Chronos-substitute has put a wrench in these plans, to put it lightly.

are there jokes that xv likes? additionally are there any jokes he likes that don't involve incredible violence
he's very much a gallows humor type guy (as appropriate to canon material also having this sense of humor), and given his clairvoyance, also has abundant constant access to dramatic irony (in such situations, fate is doing a comedy routine).
while this Tends to be humorous for involving incredible violence, sometimes he finds it funny enough to just fuck with people using this power. fifteen can technically act as though he can read minds (i've had him say what other muses are saying As they say it like twice now), after all.
kind of a lonely and arrogant and controlling sense of humor. it's a lot of looking at situations and knowing "i'm the only one who gets the punchline to this"
Gunsmoke had lotteries. Sometimes. The Seven Cities did, at least. Local ones. Wolfwood didn't bother partaking in them after the first time, where he got less than twenty double-dollars out of it. But now he's sitting here outside this convenience store, squinting at the scratchcard in his hand. Not going for one of the big prizes. Yet.
Just testing his luck. He's focused, brows pinched together, so focused he doesn't realize he's being watched until the guy speaks. Wolfwood doesn't startle but he does pause, scowling. Wait, he's met this guy, he recognizes the voice. The same guy that told him to choke over some coughs is trying to help him? No way. He's probably just fucking with him.
...
...
Well... maybe...
Wolfwood doesn't say anything and focuses his attention away from the spot he was originally going for. He scrapes away latex covering with the blunt edge of his thumbnail. Two spaces up, another.
Oh. He got it.
... He got it.
"Wooooo, yeah!!" He hoots loudly into the sky, slamming the card down on the surface of the table so hard it jostles it. "Looks like I am a li'l bit richer today!"
Wolfwood tucks the card into his jacket and turns to look over his shoulder, brows raising.
Fifteen just stands there, letting the priest celebrate his miniature jackpot alone.
The NULL's frequent haunts are places where people leave their free will and dignity behind in favor of fortune and thrill. The little celebration and the question of how'd you know are common occurrences. He doesn't bother indulging in any of it.
"You're giving me half." And there's the catch.
Of course, having cut high-roller purses and pockets at green velvet-lined tables, he doesn't need the Dust at all. It's more about exercising control and power. Well—isn't it always?
"Going in for seconds?" With clairvoyance, any question of decision feels redundant. He still wants to hear Wolfwood affirm it, that he'll respond to his questions. "I'd say press your luck, while you have it."

"Bottom-left corner. ...Then two spaces above that one."
Fifteen's late. Sitting at a table just outside a convenience store, the man who refuses to cover his cough has already uncovered a few silver circles of this scratchcard.
The NULL's peeking over his shoulder. Given the fact that all Dust was virtual capital, scratchers were offered with novelty, worthless coins over the counter. Wolfwood's coin lies still and hesitant at the advice. Fifteen's not too worried about the priest not trusting him.
"If you'd rather have 10D instead of 100D, keep doing what you're doing."
does xv have opinions on seeing his bestie vash destroying archimedes
stampvash: hey so i uh … got my fortune told by another guy, or i was supposed to, but things didnt work out. could i ask if you could do another tarot reading or something?
xv: *looks into the future for him*. hm.
xv: yeah but my rates are up 400% for this one
—
fifgreen (elarips xv): *turns over the death card*
stamps: uh oh
fifgreen: no no no, this ones not bad. its about change
fifgreen: *turns over the tower card*
fifgreen: oh this one IS bad.
"!!! THANK5 A [[Million Bucks]], PAL!!!!!!" His relief is immediate, jittery posture relaxing at least a bit, [[little man]];S SO [Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie], i DOTN EVEN WANNA TH1NK WHAT [[what horrible fate awaits you??]] TO HIM!!!!!"
Oh god, what if he'd been spam-napped!?? Some hooligan could be feeding the monster all kinds of junk and not saving any for his monster-adjacent old man!!!!
"[[Worlds]] A SC4RY PLACE FOR [tiny Tim]S AND THIS [[Search & Rescue]] was... . ." Spamton trails off as he catches sight of the frightened Spangel which, in turn, chirps in delight at the sight of him... "HEY!!!!!" ...while climbing ever higher on the taller man's jacket as he walks, "HEY [[Pal]]!!!! YOU [[Trying to pull a fast one]] ON ME!!??"
"…What?" Fifteen snaps, vaguely annoyed (as is his usual tone of voice). Whether he's heard the cute little chirp, or feels the creature crawling higher up, he doesn't react to let Spamton know. "Take this seriously. You're the one who's responsible for his safety."
His red eyes narrow, and the man glares down at Spamton. The Spangel's on his head. Which is a fluffy and stable platform for him to be; the 6'3" perch likely provides a great vantage point!
if xv sees the number 15 somewhere does he ever react with "woah, just like th" or is he too cool for that kinda thing
yeah although hes got like ... pro world-record levels of flat affect so it probably doesnt show all that much. also @ hypergiant, so if he does do a double-take "Me?" head-turn at anything he can just undo that impulse.
same thing goes for other numbers (like his fwiends) but in a boo hoo sooo sad way because theyre all fucking dead. it's sort of like this one pbf comic except for numbers. id imagine 69 and 420 have no effect on him but he does say 'nice' under his breath when 666 is used. something like that. thanks anon

"Hm… I don't think your friend much appreciated what we had to say, Fifteen."
The Elarips copy of the NULL in question flicks hooked fingers off of the rows of thin metal, letting the soft rustle of the window blinds shuffle back into place. Jack Lovelace has been an alias Fifteen's carried for most of his time in Spirale, but it's been lifelong for this false copy smirking back at him over the shoulder.
"Is that surprising to you?" It's a question that's a privilege to make, from someone so jaded and cynical, from someone whose line of work involves reading people before they know what they want to do.
With company like this, conversation like that, and all situated in the Halo, no less… Who could blame anyone for wanting to ditch lunch with these two so quickly? No friendly rigged game could save this meeting and persuade their third to stick around for very long.
Jack can only snicker in response, head tilting once: touché. Then he settles back down at the table, shuffling cards back together. The next dish is put onto the rack; Fifteen's been designated to the mundane task of clean-up, as per usual.
What's more predictable than routine?
"I've been meaning to ask you about your thoughts of your stay here, anyway," the green-haired copy says while reforming the deck. "Humor me, Fifteen. Tell me, what sense have you made from it all? You're not so forward-thinking that the past is entirely irrelevant."
(The past.) The first card Jack throws onto the table is the Fool, inverted. Card zero. Recklessness and wild abandon; no plan for the future, just sheer forward movement. The art of the card from this perspective only amplifies the fool's careless nature, so oblivious not to even realize his world has shifted bottom-up.
"The moment I was brought here, I was made toothless. The corpse of an old friend had hunted me down in public, trying to give me compassion he didn't have." It still makes Fifteen's skin crawl to think about it. All that wasted breath, wasted fury, wasted time. "I rejected it in every instance; I don't regret that. Every run-in we had after that was the same. Played out and cyclic. Exhausting, from start to finish. But everything comes to an end."
Spirale had deprived him of everything besides a pitiful fraction of the physical strength he used to have. Those days had been dark; not having any idea of possible futures, every word and action being too fast to anticipate, he was ignorant and slow and weak.
Fifteen had resorted to bitter resignation during this miserable time; giving in to societal domestication for survival, he'd played the humiliating role he was never meant to recover. It was as close as he'd ever been to "playing house"; it fit him poorly, but it had kept him alive. In the moonlight he'd still managed to prove a lethal threat.
"And how are things currently? It's been a year and… Oh. Year and a half, or nearly that, at least. Isn't that right?"
(The present.) The second card Jack throws onto the table is the Devil, upright. Card fifteen. Fatality and obsession; to be bound by what has never been real, and being made a perpetual scapegoat. On the face of the card is the titular devil, towering over the lovers from card six (1 + 5) chained to him with limits of their own invention. Humanity held back from their own potential.
"Never better." Fifteen's onto the cutlery now, from the sound of it. "Life has quieted down significantly, and there is no shortage of work, if I want it. The Stars have let my body remember more of what I used to have. It's almost all there, again. I'm close; I know it."
It goes unspoken, but Zero's return has been surprisingly refreshing… Despite the idiotic mess he's apparently fated to be. He's different, still—he isn't Zero—but there's at least a fucking crumb of resilience and assertion about him, now. There isn't constant damage control and clean-up that this NULL needs to worry about due to Zero's loneliness and loose lips. If that ever changed, at least Fifteen had significantly more means to make due on his promises of pain and lethality.
"All that leaves is what's to come. Shall we?"
(The future.) The third and final card of the spread which Jack throws onto the table—
(whzzzz—THWACK!)
—is pinned to the surface, pierced dead-center by his favorite kitchen knife, thrown with deadly force. As Jack curses and flinches from the impact in front of him, his mind unhelpfully conjures the comparison of this attack to the strike of a serpent.
The lone silver fang binding the future to the wood is sunk in deep. The human of the two knows just by looking that he's not going to be either strong or worthy enough to pull this sword back out of its stone.
"…You hit the card before I could turn it face-up," Jack remarks with awe and fear as he realizes it. Such a menace of a display is enough to overlook any outrage felt at ruining a card from his favorite tarot deck.
Fifteen's already turned his attention back to the remainder of the dishes to wash. This was enough of a message on its own, anyway. Divination wasn't for amateurs. Better to quit while you're ahead.
"HAVE [[You Seen This]] LITTOL [[shrimp scampi $19.99]]????"
A distressed puppet is stopping anyone he can, shoving his phone into each and every face to show them a blurry photo of... himself? Or, rather, something that would resemble him if he had wings.
"ABUOT [and it was this big]," Spamton holds his hands to either side of the phone's length to demonstrate, "TURN MY [[Money Back Garauntee, Act Now!!]] ON H1M F0UR JUST A COUPLE S3COND S AND N0W HE';S [[Gone like a '59 Cadillac]]!!!!"
Fifteen's barely keeping his patience, being bothered about this, but he figures that if no one tries to help out this weird little puppet dude then he'll have to hear this annoying frenzied wailing indefinitely. It's not like a suit-wearing assassin has a soft spot for missing loved ones, or anything.
"No, I haven't," he says, stonefaced. "Come this way. We'll find him eventually."
The man turns and begins to walk away. On the back of his suit jacket—ah, there's the phone-sized creature in question, clinging on for dear life.
[txt] I'm in a weird world where I don't know anyone or anything. Maybe I am lonely. That's not a crime.
Zero's never thought of himself as social or having any semblance of a social circle, but the more he thinks about it, the more it sinks in that he's never been so truly alone before. His handler, the little girl, hell even the guy at the video rental place. There's always been someone. Even if they're an asshole, this guy turned into a small oasis without the NULL realizing it just for taking the time to listen.
Like the serpent, or like Perlman? Fifteen initially wonders, before deciding that pondering the answer was ridiculous as it was moot. Whatever the case, it was unflattering, and unasked for. Responding in any way would only return positive feedback to Zero.
[txt] If my life isn't yours, then my secrets aren't either.
[txt] But, whatever, you're right.
[txt] I'll go get some better food. Make some friends. Get real cozy with them. Open up to them. Tell them about the stick looming over my head and why it's there. Then your stick won't look so scary.
Zero's not actually sure he knows how to make friends or if he even wants any, but spite is a hell of a motivator. Chronos withdrawal be damned.
[txt] Look I don't know who you are or what I am to you, and you know what? I don't care, but I'm starting to feel like you don't know either.
[txt] You're either my friend, my handler, or my enemy. The end of the road for telling me to find better food and calling me out for letting other people control me is that I stop putting up with the last two options. You get that, right?
[txt] You don't get to have it both ways.
The next set of messages present an amount of backbone Fifteen's thoroughly unused to seeing from Zero. As narrowminded and shortsighted as the words are, it's also bizarrely refreshing.
The NULL's content to let the other's words sit out a while before replying:
[text]: Not my fault you're having trouble untangling advice from command.
[text]: If you're considering me a friend for responding to your questions, then you are lonely.
[text]: I don't mind putting an end to this.
[text]: I've made you aware that there will be consequences for running your mouth about what should be taken to the grave.
[text]: That's enough for me.

[txt] Do you get off on being mysterious or is it some kind of condition?🙄
[txt] Being a NULL isn't the only secret I have, I didn't even have it for most the time I knew him.
The nightmares weren't really secrets and he's already told this guy about the girl, but still. There's more to Zero than just being a NULL, damn it.
[txt] I'm more inclined to be nice and keep the secrets of people I like, you know.
[txt] The carrot you've been using tastes pretty damn rotten.
You should be ashamed to be alive, Fifteen thinks to type, but doesn't. You really were better off dead.
[text]: Never asked for you to be nice, Zero.
[text]: I expect your compliance because of the stick, not because of the nonexistent carrot.
[text]: Find something better to eat. Your life isn't mine.
[txt] Relax, man. I didn't even tell my therapist my "secrets".
[txt] You can stop whining about that.
Anyway, with everyone else knowing more about Zero than himself, he'd like to have the upper hand for once in his life. He's not in a rush to give anyone else that power over him. It's already annoying enough with this guy holding it over his head.
[txt] Well, thanks for the info
[txt] Uh
[txt] What should I call you?
Maybe he should have asked that when they first talked. He really has to break his habit of just accepting nameless people on the phone at face value.
It's got to be the mark of a damn good therapist if he tells you about morally-pardoned murder targets.
[text]: No. Your handler "hired" you because of what you are.
[text]: I told you: I know you, Zero. Stop fucking around.
[text]: Too much is at stake for me to take the stick out.
The gratitude goes in one eye and out the other; Fifteen doesn't care if his answers make Zero more endeared toward him or not. Whatever worked to keep his lips zipped shut and his head screwed on—even if at the bare-minimum.
[text]: You shouldn't be calling me anything.
No use wasting energy on brainstorming a mysterious cryptic codename, since it'd give Zero more means to talk about him to other people.
