"Might die, but eh."

Serina set a random monster on fire, never once taking her eyes off of her double. What someone walking by wouldn’t understand is that right now setting something on fire stands for the word ‘no,’ and there were a lot of dead burnt monsters around them.

“This is stupid-” Fray was cut off by a fireball flying past her head. “No? You think this is funny, don’t you?” A monster was fried by a lightning strike, what was meant to mean ‘maybe.’ Fray was so very done with this shit. When Serina doesn’t want to talk about something, or as she likes to put it “not think” she stops talking, she shuts everything down and keeps her mind blank as much as she can. The Scions have given up for now on trying to get through to her, they’ve seen this happen before.

“She’s not you, I know you know that.” Fray was trying not to yell, but it was hard, really hard. A monster caught her eye as she watched it jump to attack Serina, she was ready to draw her sword only for the monster to be frozen solid. Serina only sat there still looking at her friend. “So you agree, at least that’s something. But that still gets us nowhere, why can’t you just say what’s on your mind like you normally do?”

One flare spell went off behind Fray, another flare soon followed in its wake. Serina hasn’t done this before, what could it mean? It was a powerful spell, powerful...powerful… Oh! Fray let out a sigh. “It’s overwhelming.” A bug flying by fell to the ground covered in frost. “Why don’t you forget about it, why let these stupid feelings control you?”

The ground around them froze, Fray couldn’t help but to glare at Serina for this one. At this point ice and fire was losing their meaning, what is no? What is yes? She really doesn’t know anymore. But what she did know is that she had enough.

“Let’s just get to the point already! Who cares if she’s the sun! Why do you care so much?” She stood up yelling, who cares, who fucking cares about any of this?

She turned her back on Serina, missing the ley lines appearing around her. First it was flare, then despair followed by two casts of xenoglossy. Serina kept up with this casting spell after spell killing anything that got even remotely close to them, there were tears in her eyes.

“I. Want. My. Gods. Back!” There was a dead monster for every word she spoke. “I don’t care if they’re just stories, that’s what I loved about them. They aren’t real, what means I never have to worry about fighting them. But you have to be blind to not see how Azim comes from Azem, I can’t worship my past life that would be messed up!”

She was sobbing at this point, it was getting harder to talk. “It...it...i-i-it makes me uncomfortable, the fact that people worship a past life of mine. T-the Oronir believe they’re Azim’s descendants, which means Azem’s descendants. It’s so so uncomfortable, I never liked them, but now? Now I can’t stand them!”

Serina threw herself at Fray, hugging her as she cried into her shoulder. It was Awkward, really awkward, but at this point if it’s for Serina she would do anything. Even if that means standing here as she cries. And it was about damn time she finally said something.

“I can’t keep laughing it off, not anymore… Not anymore...”

... “We could always kill them? Who would miss the Oronir anyway.” “You’re horrible, we’re not gonna kill them.” “...Put them in timeout? Give them guard duty?”

If anyone walked by they would see two Serinas standing in a field that’s half frozen and half burning, one very awkwardly returning a hug, and the other one laughing at her double.
