Halloween 2012: Astroboy

Halloween 2011. This photo of my son dressed in a homemade salmon sushi costume has gone viral on the internet. The scary thing was, I had only posted it to my Facebook page which was set on private, and emailed it to less than a handful of close friends. I was surprised and then upset when I saw it on people's blogs, websites, online magazines, and restaurant ads in Japan! But it's fine, I've accepted and learned how the internet can work. There is no way to find out how it leaked. I guess this is my way of 'claiming' the photo back. =P

Sneak peak of our halloween decor. My bat and B's grim reaper.

"No, It will get BETTER... not BUTTER." 

My 3 year old was playing drums on some large tin cans so I decided to step it up a notch and have him make them into his own little drum set. He was super excited to make the drums. All you need is some sort of container that resembles a drum, duct tape and paint. Beans and paper plates for the shaker. Tape it all up. Attach a strap, I used an old towel. Let your child go wild with the paint but help a little if you don't want the colours to mix too much and turn all yucky brown on ya and voila. It got really messy really fast. Not the prettiest thing we've ever made but who cares considering it was made out of junk lying around the house. 

To most people and even my husband, these scribbles are not very exciting but to ME, these are my 3 yr old's first attempt at writing letters. No one taught him. I just overheard him reciting letters to himself and then noticed his doodles were letters. From left to right: letters O D B C and E . #noonetaughthim #thethingsthatexciteme

Tonight when I went in to kiss him goodnight, he said, "Sleep next to me... Go check on DD and make sure he's ok, then after come see me.. please."

These were so annoying to do, especially with a 5 month old and 3 year old. Will need a babysitter if I ever decide to do these again. The look on my child's face when he saw them though...
