i had totally no expectations when i got off that korean air boeing, and i think it was a good thing. i picked up a new hobby, adopted a different style, learned some more about a unique culture & language. and i’ve learned a lot academically--i think i would be dying if i didn’t take this year at korea university. very thankful for my experiences in ethnic minority lit, african american lit and world lit. but rather than finding expertise in a country and culture not my own, i’d say the self-discovery was much more what exchange and travelling around abroad is. it’s not something where you suddenly think you know everything about this culture and that makes you somehow superior to someone, but i guess it’s self reflection? 

been watching this drama, very good & unique--sometimes it’s shot documentary style and takes some inspiration from variety shows

some are models or people that work in the fashion industry--buyers & marketers. i don’t personally know any of them, but seoul fashion week is all about coming out dressed up to be photographed & network; it’s especially more so than other venues since all of the shows are crammed into one venue.
