this time of night the temperature is well below freezing, wind blowing harsh against his skin. his cheeks are flushed pink, lips almost blue with cold but he merely puffs out a breath of air and keeps on, one foot in front of the other, shoes splitting through dirty snow. the cold doesn’t bother him, but it certainly bothers his body: shivers that reach the tip of his toes, teeth chattering loudly against the howl of the wind, goose bumps rising on his skin. it feels more like steering something vulnerable, feeling far removed and watching his own body from outside of it.

something creeps at the back of his mind, black claws tracing the edges of his consciousness, and he shakes his head, driving his thoughts to where they should be. he needs to get home.

it’s not so simple, however. haesoo doesn’t look behind him, but the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. he’s being watched, followed, he dare say. and he has been for a while, not just today. it bothers him, just slightly, that he can’t tell for how long this has been going on, but he knows that if they’d intended to hurt him, he’d know by now. but the spells carved into his skin say nothing, only murmur about the presence of magic near him. there is no indication of the intention to harm, and so he lets it go.

but as he rests his hand on the door knob, fingers curled around frosted metal, he stills.
