To top it all off, you're being plagued by nightmares you can't explain, as well as your rapidly returning memories.

The Mercenary: Val (nb/m/f)
A hired blade with a chaotic streak, as well as the closest thing you have to a friend. Easy-going and unpredictable, Val is usually the one to get you into trouble, but is always there to get you out of it.
The Handmaiden: Klaus Kirkhall (m)
A high-ranking member of the Religious. Klaus is pragmatic with a dry sense of humor, but takes his responsibilities deeply seriously. You get the intense feeling he know something - many things - that you don't.
The Priestess: Ira Auclair (nb)
A priestess working in the lower districts of the Holy City, extremely devout and deeply interested in the history and lore of the Religious. They spend their time searching archives to fuel their (slightly blasphemous) theories.
The Spy: Kat Saxon (f)
Claims to be a priestess, but is barely trying to hide the fact that she's clearly anything but. Her merciless stare and unshakeable confidence dare anyone to call out her suspect nature.
The Muscle: Dane/Dana Constantine (m/f)
An officer of the Blessed Guard, working directly under Klaus. Constantine is quick to anger, and is an absolute brick wall when challenged. While deeply loyal, Constantine isn't afraid to give their employer a piece of their mind.
The Saint: Guinefort (nb)

hello ive never done an anon ask before, feeling very shy... but ughhh i just love sentience so much, io's my little freak (affectionate). ever since i first played through sentience i was wondering what the symbolism behind io being named after one of the mortal women zeus kidnaps and assaults is, and im getting like vague…. vibes…. about the god below (big freak? i see thats what we seem to be calling them, though im not sure why) and the story at large. i dont think its that big freak takes the role of zeus in this story and takes an interest in io, who works as a priestess to them, because io was originally a part of Big Freak, right? like an accessory organ. is big freak some sort of giant computer thing? a mess of wires and circuits --- like that whole thing about the electric angels, just masses of cords and whatnot...
im very impressed by the people that have actual theories and ideas on whats going on with big freak and little freak (io). it's making me want to replay through the entire six chapters again, even though i already did four times today. thank you very much for bringing sentience into this world, i await with bated breath to see how the story unfolds
also i drew a little valio sketch,,, i love these codependent losers so much,,, they drive me nuts,,, i kind of want to do another io piece to try and get across that unsettling perfect symmetry thing they've got going on

maybe, but not anytime soon. it'll be a while before Val's not paralyzed by the fear they're taking advantage of Io, and a brat/tamer dynamic just isn't going to work until that's healed
I just read for the first time and I really liked the transcripts at the end of each chapter. I think I have an idea of what's below the Holy City, though I don't know if it's the cause of the Collapse or just a victim of it. I'm also really curious where Magic factors into all of it.
