Don't be such a sour wolf

This movie is fine, and I don’t exactly know why I didn’t like it more or less. It doesn’t do anything horrifically wrong but this movie just doesn’t feel very Pixar to me, but I also felt the same after turning red.

I don’t love this current trend of animation that’s very anime-esque. To me it fits better with something like K-pop. I don’t know, I’m sure I’m just ‘old man yells at cloud’.

The humor was pretty hit and miss. But goddamn it if the shark reveal didn’t get me good.

The message is good, we know that, but it’s really done so heavy. I watched Toy Story 5 lately too and that was another one that just beats you over the head with its message.

Best character: Tom. Yeah, he had very little screen time for how much he was marketed but he gave us the gift of that video so..

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this one. I liked Zootopia okay enough, but I didn’t seem to like it as much as other people did. This one though, I really liked.

The humor to me was 90% there. A few times I was like “alright, let’s move on already” but honestly pretty solid. The stupid zebros got me every time.

Just because you call out the trope of doing the twist villain doesn’t excuse you from repeating it. It was lazy and something Disney keeps doing.

The voice acting was top notch. I thought the additions were great, especially Ke Huy Quan.

Best character: Gary. He was just delightful, I wish he would’ve been given more screen time because every time he was on screen it was delightful.

I kept forgetting that I watched this movie and..that’s how I feel about it. I watched it on a plane and it was a slog. I’ve heard people say they liked it and I feel like I missed something. Maybe I was just crabby I don’t know.

I just don’t like space as a setting. I don’t like Star Wars, I don’t like aliens, so this didn’t have a great shot from the beginning. I don’t know why, that’s just how it is.

I found the moment with the father and the armor to be really touching. He didn’t hesitate, he didn’t argue, it was just “hey, my son needs me” and that was it.

The humor was so hit and miss. Sometimes it was good, like I found the repeating joke of “bye love you” to be good the first time but as it kept going it got annoying.

Best character: Glordon. I found him to be really cute and charming. His naivety could’ve been annoying but it toed that line okay.
