Energy and Productivity Spell Jar

this is a quick spell jar meant for long-term use (a few months). its purpose is as a battery, to charge the room with energy so that you can have access to an energy source. i added a productivity sigil to transmute the energies passing through the jar into productive energy. it’s perfect for days when you have no spoons but still need to get stuff done! 

Ingredients:

sea salt [as a desiccant and an energy source] 

heather blossoms [for perseverance]

black tea leaves [for energy]

dried rosemary [for improved memory and concentration]

a sprig from a pine tree [for resilience and inner strength]

an ‘energy’ and ‘productivity’ sigil [here is my energy sigil]

clear quartz [for energy transmitting], flourite [for concentration and productivity], and tigers eye [for determination and hard work]

a suitable small jar with a lid

[remember to use dried herbs and flowers as this spell jar will be sealed and is for long term use]

start by combining the sea salt with the dried heather blossoms - if you don’t have access to heather, you can substitute with thyme blossoms. add a layer of this to the bottom of your jar.

next, add a layer of black tea leaves, you can also use the contents of a tea bag rather than whole leaves. green or black tea would work well.

after this, add a layer of dried rosemary to the top. if you are using home-grown rosemary, break the sprigs up so they make an even layer. 

next, draw an energy sigil on a piece of paper, and on the other side draw a productivity sigil. draw these in green or yellow ink. cut the card out so that it fits snugly in the lid of your jar. 

take the pine sprig and push it into the jar so that it is standing vertically through the layers.

screw the lid on tightly, and add your crystals either on top of, or around your jar. use your finger or wand to draw circles around the lid of the jar, setting your intention and activating the sigils.

place on a windowsill or shelf, with the crystal points facing inwards towards the room. periodically recharge the jar - either under the moon or with a wand. 

○ burn your favorite incense or candle

○ walk around barefoot to connect with the earth

○ burn random candles as you please

○ cleanse your crystals

○ thank your crystals, pendulums, tarot cards, and other tools

○ give offerings to forest spirits or animals

○ draw in sand

○ paint your feelings

○ use your favorite essential oils !!

○ write down all the things you hate and burn it

○ listen to your favorite song, not caring about how many times it repeats

○ draw or doodle with an intention, similar to sigils, but easer to hide

This spell is for major life transitions. It could be a move to a new home, a new school, or the start of a big project. Or it could be a more personal transition, like ending a bad habit or changing your worldview. Either way, this spell is all about letting go of the things that are dragging you down and moving forward with a light heart. 

Note: I am not a Wiccan, so my spells do not include a lot of Wiccan ritual steps like casting a circle, calling on the God and Goddess, etc. This is just my preference, and if you want to add those or any other steps that aren’t included here, please feel free! Your craft is your craft, so personalize it as you see fit!!

What You Will Need:

something to cleanse yourself and your ritual space (good ol’ white sage does just fine)

small white candle (symbolizes new beginnings, attracts positive energy)

small green candle (promotes healing and growth, attracts material prosperity)

small pink candle (promotes love, especially self-love)

powdered allspice (attracts luck and material/spiritual abundance) 

Optional Components

cinnamon (powdered or in the form of a cinnamon stick) (attracts abundance of all kinds, boosts the energy of spells)

an amazonite stone (promotes self-empowerment)

a citrine stone (attracts abundance and prosperity, aids in manifestation and in accomplishing goals)

Casting the Spell

Do what you need to do to get in the mood. Maybe meditate for a few minutes, put on some instrumental music, burn your favorite incense, etc. Take a moment to ground and center yourself.

Begin by cleansing your workspace with your favorite purifying incense (some of my favs are sage, frankincense, and cedarwood!!). Make sure to cleanse yourself as part of this process – the focus of this spell is letting go of the things that hold us back and embracing the future, so you don’t want to bring any negativity into the working with you. 

Rub some of the allspice into each of your candles (if you’re using powdered cinnamon, rub some of that in, too) and then arrange them in a triangle pattern with the white candle front and center. The white candle should be the one closest to you, with the green and pink candle behind and slightly to either side of it. (If you’re using the amazonite and/or citrine stones, set them in the center of the candles.) 

Light each of your candles in turn, starting with the white candle. As you light each one, focus on the changes that you are planning to make in your near future. 

(If you’re using a cinnamon stick, hold it over one of the candle’s flames until it begins to smoke – being careful not to burn yourself, of course. Waft this smoke around your ritual space, and breathe deeply as the scent of cinnamon fills the room.) 

Focus on the flames of the candles, the light, the warmth. As you stare into the fire, turn your mind to your goals for this next phase of your life. Where do you hope this next step will take you? What are you hoping to bring into your life, and what are you hoping to let go of? Keep this goal in your mind’s eye and focus your energy on it. Allow the energy of the spell to build, slowly but steadily, like a fire coming to life from kindling. 

Once you feel ready, recite the following incantation: “I am embarking on the next phase of my journey. I am leaving behind all unnecessary burdens. I am stepping into a brighter future. The light embraces me, and the dark fades away.” (This one is kinda long, so feel free to write it down and read it aloud if you need to!) 

Repeat the incantation as many times as you feel you need to. (I like to work with the number nine in my magic, so I recited it in three sets of three, pausing between each set to refocus my energy.)

Once you finish your last incantation, don’t feel like you have to end the spell immediately. Sit with the energy you’ve created for a while. Let it continue to build. 

When you feel ready, end the spell by blowing out the candles. Ground yourself before you begin cleaning up. You can smudge again if you want to, but I personally don’t smudge after positive spells like this one.

To be a witch is to live magically. Our power exists far beyond when we’re making spell jars or crafting sigils. Witch is a way of life, as well as a spiritual practice. Here are five ways I use witchcraft in my professional life. 

I work part time to put myself through university, and my job is definitely unique in terms of hours and requirements, but I hope this can help all kinds of working witches! 

1. Badge sigils. Put protection and security sigils on the back of your ID badge. If you wear your badge on a lanyard like me, add buttons or pins that are charmed. I have one for confidence on my lanyard right now. 

2. Charm lip balm or lipstick. Working in customer service can be frustrating, especially when people seem hell-bent on arguing with you. Charm your lip balm or lipstick to calm customers with sweet words. Anything to prevent the dreaded “Can I speak to your manager?” 

3. Basil! I have an entire post about how basil can boost financial prosperity, here. Bring it with you to the office to improve work prosperity, and tackle tough jobs with ease. Essential oil works great for this, but be mindful of your coworkers, as some might be allergic.

4. Coworker problems? Make some charmed ginger cookies. Ginger is used for healing spells, and is associated with the element of fire, expediting the process. Again, be mindful of any allergies people might have. Be sure to take a step back and evaluate your own actions, as well as steps that can be taken to improve the working environment. 

5. Cleanse and ward your workspace. Everyone has their own unique style when it comes to getting things done, and in a workplace environment, energies can overlap and become crowded, making it difficult to concentrate. Keep your space attuned to you with energy work, and respect the boundaries of others.

Just a little ritual that I will be preforming tomorrow night! (You may adjust this to fit you)

Make yourself comfortable. (lay down, sit up, or meditate)

Focus on where your body meets the surface you are sitting/laying on. Focus on what you are feeling from the points of contact. 

Now visualize roots coming down from your feet and attaching you to the earth. 

Once you feel yourself really grounded, push any unwanted energy that you have in your body through those roots and allow the earth to absorb and purify them. Take a few deep breathes and imagine that stable and grounded earth energy is being sucked up through your roots. (try not to take to much energy at once. If you feel tensed move around a bit and let the energy flow through your roots) When you feel ready allow your roots to detach themselves from the earth and slowly retract into your body.

Think about your intentions for whatever outcome that you desire. (you may also write down your intentions on bay leaves and burn them)

Now close your eyes and visualize the moon. (look out your window or pull up a picture whatever works best for you) Visualize the moon being right above you and visualize a sliver cord going up into the sky connecting you to the moon. When you feel that you have a strong solid connection to the moon begin to suck up its energy through the cord.

When you feel you have absorbed enough energy to charge your intentions, hold your hands out in front of you and direct the moons energy to the palm of your hands.

Now imagine yourself as if you have achieved your goal that you set for yourself. Once you have it clearly in your mind push the moon’s energy out and towards that goal. (If you are using bay leaves this is when you will burn your leaf.)

I am very excited to be setting my water and stones out for this coming full moon. The full moon will be 99% visible on the 15th. The moon will be in Aquarius/Pisces, making this a cuspian moon! This moon will be good for letting go of negative energy associated with the past and present. This moon may also help with love, dreams, emotional strength and personal growth.
