The Oklahoma Girl Scout murders refers to the twisted slayings of three girl scouts, 9-year-old Michelle Heather Guse, 8-year-old Lori Lee Farmer, and 10-year-old Doris Denise Milner on the morning of June 13, 1977, at Camp Scott located in Mayes County, Oklahoma. On the day of June 12, 1977, the girls were participating in a camping trip and were all staying in a tent together. The tent they were in, which was tent #8, was located farthest from the camp counselors tent and nearly hidden from any sight due to the showers. Around 7 P.M. a strong thunderstorm hit the entire camp and the girls were forced to gather and take shelter in their tent until it would stop. It was at that time period where the most vile and evil acts of violence would take place until the next early morning.

Nearly 12 hours later, a camp counselor was on her way to the shower area when she discovered the body of one of the girls resting on the trail leading to the showers. The girl that was found seemed to have been stuffed inside her own sleeping bag before being disposed of. After the initial discovery, it was soon realized that the other two girls in the tent had been brutally murdered. Each of the girls endured significant trauma; they had been raped, bludgeoned, strangled, stuffed in their sleeping bags and disposed of near the showers.

As far as forensic evidence goes, the only thing left at the scene was large red flashlight with a finger print found on the lens, and also, a 9.5 size footprint was found in the blood inside the tent; none of which were officially identified. Surprisingly, despite the three girls being viciously attacked, not much commotion was heard on the camp ground. Although a local landowner reported to have heard “quite a bit of traffic” around 2:30-3:00 A.M. on a road near the camp on the same night the murders took place. It’s important to note that less than two months before the killings, a camp counselor had her personal belongings ransacked and her food was taken. In the empty box, the perpetrator left a note; promising that they will return and kill three campers. But the note was discarded.
