i’d love to have a good-faith conversation with someone about taylor swift’s artistry and how she tows the line between creating music that’s relevant to her life (or to the life of her public persona) and also marketable to the public. she knows how to make an album people will listen to, no matter what. she has tons of diehard fans of 5, 10, 15+ years. she obviously revisits a lot of the same themes, chords, song structures, and sometimes lyrics. it gets repetitive, sometimes cringy, but her formula generally works. i’m so interested in the real process of creating and selecting songs when you are a musician of her caliber. how many people does she work with to choose songs? how much creative control does she actually have? how big is the overlap between music she wants to make and the music she makes for her career? does she choose her producers & are they in contracts with her for multiple albums & if not, why does she keep working with the same people? it seems like ppl who are knowledgeable about this stuff also frequently dislike her and it gets in the way of being able to really examine her work and longevity in the industry. but i’m rlly dying to know. how honest is she about her creative process? how much honesty does she really owe the public?
