âSebastian, youâre not planning to leave the perimeter, right?â Hunter said cautiously.
âBlaine is out there. Alone in his carâ Sebastian tried to explain âheâs in danger, Hunter, I canât just leave him like this. Iâll just need your help to get over the fence - my car is parked outside of Daltonâ.
âYouâre not going alone, jerkâ Hunter rolled his eyes.
Theyâve sneaked out if Dalton without alarming the security (Sebastian already knew the blind spots for the cameras, because he used them to smoke on the school grounds). Driving through Westerville was a lot more shocking - with everyone locked up after their houses it was a ghost city⌠except for one thing.
âIs this guy holding an arm? LikeâŚsomeone elseâs detached limb?!â Hunter gulped as they drove past a strange looking group.
Sebastian could already see them - empty stares, pale faces with an eerie shade of purple. And then one if the creatures tried to attack a car. Theyâve heard a loud crack.
âOh my god, I ran him over! â Sebastian shouted in panic. âShut up and drive!â Hunter grunted.
Sebastian sped up, and turned on the street corner. Blaine is supposed to be there⌠oh shit.
âItâs his car, isnât it? â Hunter said, his voice trembling slightly.
Blaine waits as patiently as he can but they start banging on the glass. The back window breaks and Blaine knows he has to get out of the car, he canât stay here. He shoves the front door open, knocking one down and crawls up onto the car to give himself some height and leverage. Heâs not sure if this will even work, but he has to try something.
He just hopes someone is coming for him.
Blaine looks up as a car peels into the parking lot and he recognizes the two in the front seat. He weakly waves down Sebastian, because thank god he showed, one of the last people he expected to ever help him. He kicks one of them in the head, keeping it down off the hood of the car. He just hopes Sebastian and whoever heâs with brought weapons of some kind.
There wasn't much weapon resembling options in Sebastian's reach, when he rushed out to help Blaine. Best he could grab was a stick from his lacrosse gear, which he now used to push one if those things away from the car.
"There are too much of them" he shouted to Hunter, trying to clear out the way for Blaine to climb down the car. "Wait, is that..."
BAM
One of the attackers dropped down next to him, presumably dead.
"Blaine, get down there, NOW" Hunter commanded, while Sebastian blocked another attack.
They rushed back to the car and Sebastian let out a long and elaborate French curse when the engine hesitated to start. Finally, they drove off, leaving the aggressive mob behind.
"What the fuck was that?? " Sebastian shouted frantically.

At first this was considered just another flu mutation - maybe just a little contagious than the usual one. Well, a lot more contagious than the normal one, since nearly a half of country seemed to be sick with it at some point of this autumn. But the scientists emerged with the new vaccine surprisingly soon, some people even argued that it needed more testing. It seemed to help out thoughâŚuntil the second wave hit them in spring.Â
The symptoms for this one were way harsher - extreme temperature rise, which led to the the overheat and neural damage, possibly exposing people to the permanent brain alterations and violent behaviour. Thatâs why Dalton students, who were technically on the spring break, werenât allowed out of the campus, unless their parents would come to collect them in person, providing all the paperwork to prove that no one in the household was sick.
Sebastianâs parents were currently stuck in Europe for almost a month now due to the closed borders, Hunter couldnât get to Colorado for the similar reasons, so his roommate and co-captain (technically still the captain of the Warblers, at least in the eyes of Dalton officials) was stuck at school as well. Most of other Warblers left the dorms to quarantine with their families, so their game nights were way more deserted now, and they couldnât even distract themselves with rehearsals anymore. There seemed to be no good news lately, and even memes were getting more depressed rather than funny nowadays.
His phone was resting on the top os the book pile that Sebastian had on the nightstand next to his bed. It vibrated with a text notification and Sebastian reached out for it blindly, while putting the bookmark back into his copy of Kurt Vonnegutâs âSlaughterhouse â5âł. Then he saw it was Blaine whoâs sent the message and dropped the book on the floor. The text was messy and clearly typed in a hurry, but Sebastian could register three things: 1) Blaine was in danger 2) Whoever this text was intended for sure as hell didnât get it (because surely Blaine wouldnât suddenly ask for help someone heâs stopped talking to seven months ago) 3) If he doesnât do something about this situation, Blaine is going to get hurt and it will be Sebastianâs fault
Blaine has no idea how he finds himself in these situations. Granted, he never thought this would be the situation he was in. It all started out so simple, so unbelievable and then suddenly he canât reach anyone from outside of Dalton. Phones are still working just fine but Kurt, Sam, his parents, Cooperâheâs got no texts back.
He doesnât want to think about what that means.
Heâs on his way back to Dalton and he gets stuck outside, in his car, sending out an emergency text to anyone who will read it. he just hopes he can actually get some help. Because those things are surrounding his vehicleâŚand heâs not quite sure how to get out of this alive.
"Sebastian, you're not planning to leave the perimeter, right?" Hunter said cautiously.

âYouâre always so understanding Sebastian sighed, closing his eyes and finally letting himself relax for the first time this day.
âI love you, B, you know that, right? he muttered as Blaine kissed on his neck.
Blaine smiles as Sebastian calls him understanding. He does try to be that wayâworking hard for his day job has come hard to Sebastian, finding something he really loves and belongs in. So he does his best to be supportive, always.
âOf course I know that.â He smiles, inching closer, âI love you too.â
" I think that's the first time I say it out loud, and you're not even surprised " Sebastian chuckled.
" Maybe it's for the best though, I get enough drama at work "

âYou mean at your home? â Sebastian chuckled softly while undressing.
âSorry. For that stupid joke and for missing the dinnerâ he sighed, finally climbing in bed and finally wrapping his arms around Blaine. âItâs been a hell of a dayâ.
âHome in general.â Blaine smiles softly and inches closer when Sebastian lies down. He presses his face into the crook of his neck and breathes him in, pressing a kiss along his neck. âItâs okay,â he chuckles, âI figured youâd start getting busier with this work. Iâm just glad itâs working out for you.â

Sebastian undresses on his way to the bedroom, leaving his coat on the couch and shrugging his blazer off. He smiles, seeing that Blaine is still awake.
âHey, gorgeousâ he hums quietly, sitting on the bed next to him.
Blaine smiles as Sebastian wanders into the bedroom. He gets himself comfortable in bed, watching him undress, âHi,â He says sleepily. âIâm glad youâre home.â He yawns and runs a hand through his curls, âGood day?â

Sebastian finished off his workload around ten p. m. but he wasnât ready just to go to bed yet after that Adderall boost. Plus it was better to make amends with Blaine sooner, it was bad enough that heâs skipped dinner which he was supposed to cook.
The sudden epiphany hit Sebastian while he was in taxi on his way to hus boyfriendâs place. It wouldnât matter if Blaine would be awake or asleep, happy to see him or scolding him for the skipped dinner. He just⌠wanted to be near him so badly, even if it was just for a little while.
Luckily Sebastian still had keys to Blaineâs apartment. He opened the door carefully, hoping not to disturb Blaine or his roommate if they were already asleep.
Blaine shifts slightly as he hears the door to the apartment open, knowing it can only be one person. Or thereâs a burglar breaking into his place. He yawns and sits up in bed a little, running a hand over his face. He pushes his arms underneath his pillow, looking at the bedroom door, waiting for Sebastian to walk through it.

âYou need to pull yourself together, Smytheâ Randall frowned, looking back at him. âI know, this case is tougher than our clients presented it at first, but itâs nothing we canât solveâ.
âSheâs got a CCTV footage of our client trying to drag her into his office. I donât⌠Heâs guilty, isnât he? â Sebastian sighed, rubbing his face. The footage brought back the memories of Hunter he hoped to be buried deep down, and now he was feeling nauseous.
âItâs not your job to be a judge of that, at least not yet. You did good research on Rodneyâs case, and Iâm counting on you this time too, partner. Hereâ he threw Sebastian a pack of pills. âI need my junior to be concentratedâ.
Sebastian didnât have to read the label to know this was Adderall. Some of his friends from Harvard were living on it during exam weeks, but it was a little bizarre to realize that âadult worldâ lawyers would use it too. He hesitated for a second - this case was no good and pills were a bit shady⌠but this has been the nicest way Randall has treated him yet. And he clearly wanted to form a full-time team, not just for this one case.
âOkayâ he nodded, looking at Randall. âI can do some diggingâ.
Blaine spreads himself out on the couch, running through his instagram and twitter feeds trying to find something to read while he waits for his food. He supposes if his boyfriend isnât coming over for the night he can watch a rom-com and crawl into bed early.
He grabs the remote and starts surfing for something on Netflix before checking to see where the driver of his food is.

Sebastian groaned, seeing the text from Blaine. He got so worked up he forgot to message him.
âSorry, B, canât make it tonight. Lots of work here, the defense team brought up new evidenceâ he typed quickly. He needed a Red Bull, maybe two. Of course 12 hours of sleep would be better, but that wasnât an option anymore. Randall, his senior colleague seemed fine though - and he was at least fifteen years older than him!
Blaine hums a little as he takes a look at his text. He canât even make dinner? He signs a little and sets his phone down after texting no worries. He understands being late but, completing blowing him off? He opens up his uber app to order tacos. Heâs at least going to eat.
"You need to pull yourself together, Smythe" Randall frowned, looking back at him. "I know, this case is tougher than our clients presented it at first, but it's nothing we can't solve".

âWait, heâs got a girl now? Thatâs good news for usâ Sebastian hummed, rubbing his ankle against Blaineâs under the table.
âThank you for the dinner, everything tasted really good. Wanna finish this bottle of wine on the couch? â
â
Blaine looks down at his phone, sending another text to Sebastian, âNo worries if youâre late, just checking to make sure youâre still on for dinner? I was thinking about pizza and beer.â He settles down on his couch, putting the TV on a sitcom.
Sebastian groaned, seeing the text from Blaine. He got so worked up he forgot to message him.
"Sorry, B, can't make it tonight. Lots of work here, the defense team brought up new evidence" he typed quickly. He needed a Red Bull, maybe two. âAs much as Iâd like to state otherwise⌠â Sebastian sighed. âAfter all weâre not getting that gat paycheck for dealing with easy casesâ
He took another sip of wine from the glass. âSo we got to us our spare time while we still have some. Is your roommate going to return home tonight? â
Blaine shakes his head, finishing his dinner and pushing the plate away, âNah, heâs over at his girlâs place, so,â He offers a soft smile in Sebastianâs direction, âWe have the place to ourselves.â
"Wait, he's got a girl now? That's good news for us" Sebastian hummed, rubbing his ankle against Blaine's under the table.
"Thank you for the dinner, everything tasted really good. Wanna finish this bottle of wine on the couch? "
sebthelawyerâ:
âIt dependsâ Sebastian sighed, taking his hand. âRight now this case seems easy, but she might try to drag it if she gets media attention.
Maybe that was her goal in the first place - the company would rather try to make peace by throwing in some good cash, rather than getting their name dragged through dirtâ
Blaine nods. Heâs not sure he could ever be a lawyerâthere seems like thereâs way too much to keep track of. And way too many scenarios that play out before anything even happens. But Sebastian is good at it and happy and thatâs all that matters.
âSo, Iâm guessing a lot of late nights are on the horizon?â
"As much as I'd like to state otherwise... " Sebastian sighed. "After all we're not getting that gat paycheck for dealing with easy cases"
He took another sip of wine from the glass. "So we got to us our spare time while we still have some. Is your roommate going to return home tonight? "
sebthelawyerâ:
âThatâs for her lawyer to worryâ Sebastian shrugged. âWeâre working on the presumption of innocence principle, which means that our client is innocent until proven guilty. So our team will be gathering evidence and preparing the defense strategy for the court based on the assumption that her claim is falseâ
Blaine nods a little and swirls some pasta in his bowl to eat. He sets the bread on the table from the oven and hands Sebastian a piece before having one of his own, âIs it a lot of late nights and such or do you feel like itâs going to be an open and shut case?â He asks curiously, reaching across the table to squeeze Sebastianâs hand.
"It depends" Sebastian sighed, taking his hand. "Right now this case seems easy, but she might try to drag it if she gets media attention.
Maybe that was her goal in the first place - the company would rather try to make peace by throwing in some good cash, rather than getting their name dragged through dirt"
sebthelawyerâ:
âOkay thenâ Sebastian chuckled, taking another forkful of pasta, because he was hungry after work.
âBasically thereâs this chick that used to work at Mortonâs IT department. She tried to get a promotion, her boss blew her off, she got mad and quit the job. But now sheâs trying be a pain in the ass and tries to claim that he assaulted her at the workplaceâ
Blaine nods as he listens, trying to take in all the details of Sebastianâs case. He supposes itâs almost like memorizing a script or song lyrics for a performance. Lots to remember, lots to recount. This is obviously a little different though, much more serious,
âWow,â He shakes his head, âThatâs awful. About her boss, I mean. Is there any truth to her claim?â
"That's for her lawyer to worry" Sebastian shrugged. "We're working on the presumption of innocence principle, which means that our client is innocent until proven guilty. sebthelawyerâ:
âThereâs not so much for me to tell, and I can see that youâre already getting boredâ Sebastian chuckled, sitting after the table.
âMmm⌠This pasta tastes really niceâ he complimented Blaine.
Blaine serves him pasta and shakes his head, taking the garlic bread out of the oven. He sits with Sebastian and starts on his salad, âNot at all, Iâm just trying to keep up.â He smirks, âI like listening, promise.â
"Okay then" Sebastian chuckled, taking another forkful of pasta, because he was hungry after work.
"Basically there's this chick that used to work at Morton's IT department. She tried to get a promotion, her boss blew her off, she got mad and quit the job. But now she's trying be a pain in the ass and tries to claim that he assaulted her at the workplace"
sebthelawyerâ:
âI mean we still need to seriously work through all the evidence against our client, but in the of the day itâs a corporate against civilian lawsuit, and usually people donât have that much money to drag on the casesâ Sebastian shrugged. âPlus assault allegations are tending to be really hard to proof if there are no eye witnessesâ.
Blaine raises his eyebrows, trying his best to follow along but Sebastianâs kinda losing him with the jargon. Regardless, it sounds like a pretty serious case. And heâs happy for himâŚhe just hope heâs careful. âWell, you can tell me about it over dinner. I made pasta, homemade sauce.â
"There's not so much for me to tell, and I can see that you're already getting bored" Sebastian chuckled, sitting after the table.
"Mmm... This pasta tastes really nice" he complimented Blaine.
