The Fremonster

1. Although it’s hard to tell, Fremont Oktoberfest benefits the Fremont Chamber of Commerce. From the Fremont Oktoberfest website:

“Each ticket purchased proceeds go directly to the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, an organization that works diligently to create and maintain the wacky and iconic Fremont neighborhood.”

Isn’t that neat!

2. Fremont Oktoberfest has been hailed (yes, HAILED!) as one of the Top Ten Oktoberfests in the World. Not surprised, it is the Center of the Universe after all. However, the accolade likely came in 2008 on this Orbitz blog. Meh, we’ll take it.

3. According to the Washington Beer Blog, Fremont Oktoberfest is “Seattle’s largest and oldest Oktoberfest celebration and has been part of autumn in Seattle for 20 years.” 

4. Fremont Oktoberfest, like the Fremont Fair, is produced by Bold Hat Productions, located right about Free Range Bicycles in the heart of Fremont at Phinney Ave N and N 35th St. It’s a really smart event planner who plans the event in their own back yard. 

5. The people watching is incredible. Whether attending the festival or meandering through the rest of Fremont you will see ridiculous things go down. 

Fun fact! Sea Level Hot Yoga, located on N 36th St has that new yoga studio appeal but it’s actually part of a gradual evolution. For a time, Sea Level, known as Bikram Yoga Seattle, was Seattle’s only Bikram yoga studio and was located at N 34th St and Albion Pl N (it’s real, two blocks off Stone Way). Fremont Brewing took over this studio space during one of the brewery’s expansions. 

Bikram Yoga Seattle first moved from it’s original location to a renovated space just down the road, past Troll Ave N. This first move involved the studio closing for a time, resulting in some significant losses for customers, before reopening on the 700 block on N 34th. However, this new home was a short-lived.

Preceding the demolition of 744-760 N 34th St to make way for the new “Fremont Office Building”, Bikram Yoga Seattle needed to move it’s sweat-soaked mats somewhere else. Luckily, property managers Fremont Dock Co. were ready to take care of their tenants and relocated the studio to farther west in Fremont. At this time, Bikram Yoga Seattle was reborn as Sea Level Hot Yoga.

2. A topiary dinosaur (and it’s baby) relocated from the Pacific Science Center to Fremont in time for the new century.

3. A delicious dinosaur-shaped chocolate crafted by Theo’s Chocolate
