Born in 13th century England, Sir Sean Whitehall was the only son of Baron Thomas Whitehall. From the moment he was born, he was bathed in luxury, but in exchange for that luxury, he was expected to play the role of heir and continue the family line. Baron Whitehall was a cruel man who had little qualms about raising his hand at his wife and children and did so frequently. In his eyes, they had roles to play and he held little love for them beyond what society expected of him.Â
As a young man, Sean did his best to protect his mother, the woman who cared for him despite her clear weaknesses, but Sean could only do so much for a woman who refused to protect herself. He begged her to leave with him, to start a new life elsewhere, but his mother was a dutiful wife and believed there was nothing else out there for her. She had a roof over her head, status, and a husband, while cruel, was no crueller than the world outside their estate.Â
Baron Whitehall had overheard their conversation about leaving one night and in a blind fit of rage, attacked the both of them. No longer a youth and now a knight, the younger Whitehall easily overpowered his father, and only the pleas of his mother kept him from killing the man. Despite being so close to freedom, the Baroness could not let go of the Baron and Sean packed his bags and left the next day, vowing never to return.
Cut off from the wealth he knew, Sean took odd jobs here and there until he ran into a vampire who offered him immortality and power. With little question, Sean accepted and his new life as a vampire gave him even more freedom, despite losing the ability to walk during the day. He rebuilt his wealth and pursued the same idle hobbies as his former life. Nevertheless, that eventually got boring and Sean graduated to darker forms of entertainment. As a vampire, he had little regard for human life and when he killed his victims, he began to study their bodies after death.
Apparently, the apple didnât fall far from the tree and the deeper Sean gave into his fascination, the larger his fatherâs shadow loomed, his behaviour becoming increasingly violent, controlling, and downright cruel. He had become sadistic in his years and rampaged throughout Europe and the New World as a killer. He had been called many names throughout his life, though Jack the Ripper was perhaps his favourite.
Sean spent centuries living that way and alone but satisfied. Nevertheless, no matter how strong and skilled he was, he could read the writing on the wall. Vampires couldnât hunt as lone wolves forever. As technology advanced, it would become harder and harder for him to cover his tracks. When he found out that a vampire criminal empire was being build in New York City, his fascination got the better of him.
While he wasnât the type to work for someone, he saw benefit in working with Anna. It would give him the protection of a group, while still allowing him the independence of indulging in his more carnal pleasures. As usual, he searched for an occupation that fueled his God-complex and gave him power over others. The irony of being a police officer while also a serial killer didnât escape him and he thought it would be an amusing challenge to try to cover up his tracks from the inside. He glamoured his way into a position at the NYPD as a detective and acts as an informant for Anna, hiding away the crimes he and the organization committed.Â
