AI art but make it DANCE!
AI art comes alive in Max Frost’s music video, Virgin written by Abbey Ley
AI generated art is an incredible phenomenon on its own. If you’re not yet familiar, anyone can use tools such as DALL-E 2 or Midjourney to generate complex, surreal or photorealistic art in a matter of seconds. Simply type in a series of words and a bot nearly instantly renders your art. Director, Aaron Lemke merges AI art with dance footage in his stunning animated video. He says, “Conceptually, I’ve always been drawn to the human form... The earliest recorded dances were all rooted in tribal theologies and rituals. The modern advent of AI we are all witnessing represents humanity in a way, creating a new theology -- a new type of God.” I found this creative execution particularly compelling because it’s a unique mix of human and AI art I hadn’t seen before. Having delightfully experimented with generating still AI art of my own, I can only imagine how long it must have taken to create this music video! It allows for human expression in a new form.
The concept is simple and complex at the same time: Song and dance elevated by earth-inspired AI art.
The footage was shot with an iPhone and art was animated with Disco Diffusion. The surreal, captivating art flows and intertwines beautifully with the music and choreography. The dancer and singer provide focal points throughout the evolving scenes.
Major props to Aaron for paving the way of leveraging AI art as a tool to make something incredible and futuristic.
