A portal phases in behind Octavia, snapping open. The bright colors flash, glitching in and out. It roars, and crackles, in a way that's unmistakable. In her pretty and painted glory, comes Gwendolyn. She has her mask between her teeth, her hair sloppily tied behind her. She hasn't slept well these past few days, and it shows. Gwen needs something to clear her head, and maybe that will come in the form of hanging out with a friend. Gwen's watercolor eyes settle onto Octavia, and a slight smile plays at her lips as she frees her hair from its messy tied-up hold, taking her mask into her hand. "Hey, Via!" Gwen finally greets, sitting down beside Octavia. She swings her legs idly, looking down at the flooded city beneath them. It always upsets her a little, seeing how her friend's universe is. It's not much of a home, though it's not as if her cramped room in the Spider Society's headquarters is much of a home either.

Gwen notices, of course. It's difficult not to notice when your friend jumps so skittishly at your arrival. Something complicated and hard to read crosses Gwen's face, before neutralizing into something a little easier to read. "...How are you holding up?" Gwen asks, tilting her head to the side. She pulls a knee up, resting her arm on it. "Good?" A beat. "..Not so good?"

Gwen frowns a little, eyes flicking to Octavia's hand picking at her jeans, before her eyes flick right back up to Octavia's face. She almost scoots closer, but decides to stay put. She looks back at the half-standing skyscrapers, letting out a half-breath, half-chuckle. "Sounds like the world has it out for you, Vi." She looks down at the flooded land below, which she's sure used to bustle with people. Hesitantly, Gwen turns to Octavia again. "Why's Miguel mad at you?" Gwen asks, hand idly drumming against her leg.

Gwen snorts a laugh, nose wrinkling as she does so, lifting a hand to cover her mouth. "HAH! Hobie is kind of sort of really fun to mess with." Gwen lowers her hand. She idly wishes that she had the luxury to forget to go to the spider society. It's a drag to live at work, but most of what Gwen does feels like a drag, so she dismisses the thought. Her smile wavers, however, and she sighs. Her eyes flick to the watch on her wrist, throwing a hand over it to cover whatever listening device could possibly be in it before she speaks. "...Miguel has a major stick up his ass, Vi. Try not to pay mind to it."

Gwen pauses for a moment, eyes widening for a moment, sighing as she rubs her temples. "Ahah.. Um… What haven't I been?" She asks, to nobody in particular. A lot weighs heavy on her shoulders, and it's hard to talk, about. Even with people like Octavia, she still finds herself nervous at the prospect of burdening her. "I've been trying to adjust to living in the Spider Society, but it's... hard," Gwen exhales, looking up at Octavia. "Almost as hard as the stuff with my dad. I think I'm getting used to it, though. It just hasn't been easy. I've never been super into change, anyway. I feel like I should be over it by now but I'm just... not."

Gwen looks starstruck for a moment, but she quickly shakes the feeling. Wordlessly, she wraps her own arms around Octavia, sighing softly at the contact. Physical comfort has always been Gwen's favorite to receive. Gentle hands around her, soothing her sweetly, make her feel as if she is safer than she truly is. Gwen is never safe, but sometimes she needs to feel safe even if it isn't true. Because, right now, in her embrace, she is safe. "..Thank you," Gwen pulls her head back up, trying to shake that nervous feeling in her gut. She stands up, stretching out her sore shoulders and sliding her mask over her face. She blinks a little, adjusting it along her face. "You promised me a patrol, though. Me and you both know that's the best therapy there is, so-" Gwen shoots a web across the flooded city, to another building, "Try to keep up!" Gwen calls out to Octavia, challenging her with a airy laugh.

Gwen's competitive spirit sparks up seeing Octavia at her side, but she'll let her have this. Her shoulders soothe out and she looks less tense with Sea Spider at her side. She squints at Octavia, laughing airily. "Maybe you're just getting better after learning from me. Ever thought of that one?"

Gwen missed Octavia too, however Gwen has worked herself to exhaustion these past few days and, damn it, she needs a second. As embarrassing as that is. She usually has more stamina. Shoot. Gwen leaps towards a rooftop, swinging over the water. She runs her spare hand through the foamy ocean, the cool temperature of the water a pleasant feeling that washes over her. She lands atop it, resting her arms for a moment as she gives Octavia a look, eyebrows knit together . “It wouldn’t kill you to admit that you’ve learnt a thing or two from me, Via!” Gwen taunts, as she steadies herself.
