“my my, to what do I owe the unexpected pleasure of your company, my darling?”

“I mean, my dear, that these books are quite old and not the nicest of books to read... prone to giving nightmares they are. but filled with information all the same of truths once thought of as only legend...” her hand rests upon the spine of one gently, lips forming a smile once more as memories are recalled - some good and many bad of course but memories all the same - before her eyes turned back to the child. “and I have spent a lifetime making sure that my collection remains intact so those who need the information can easily access it... what is your name, my dear? perhaps we may find you books more suited towards your interests together, hmm?” 

there were very few things that China Sorrows loved, but her collection was definitely at the top of that list. filled with things gathered over her hundreds of years on this planet, aided in growth by generous donations from those who just wanted to help her. it was her sanctuary really. even if it had become a place many knew her to be. and this child seemed to be just a tad bit on the young side for the section she had found herself upon the Ancients and the Grotesque. “darling - do be careful. some of these books are not near as harmless as they appear.... and I have spent quite a while in keeping this collection whole...”

“darling, I am afraid you will have to be just a tad more specific. I am old, i’ve done a lot of things of questionable origin. simply asking my I did one is hardly enough to allow me to know which one you are talking of.”
