I mostly hear statements like this when the topic of privileged equestrians comes up. The kind of people who board at a stable where turnout, feeding, mucking, etc is all taken care of, all of the owner does is come to the stable, tack up, ride, and then return the horse to the stall.

Or the kind that neglects things like proper feeding, turnout, etc because they only own a horse because they want to ride them.

Another example is people who sell competition horses the second they retire or become injured and can no longer compete at the level they used to.

#If horses for the sake of riding died out enough in this day and age #horses would become rarer and the price of everything would go up because of the rarity and exclusivity #the casual rider owner with money helps the poorer equestrians by keeping the spaces goods and services common enough #so yeah let people own horses however they want #the horses don't care they're out in the field eating
