âDid anything change since I been gone?âÂ
Looks like the same dirty place but who knows. Sheâs gonna take cover in the same spot like always, under a covered patio. Smoking her cigarettes and drinking her wine on the same rocking chair she use to sit on when she use to work here.
âSomethingâs⌠not everythingâ
Comes the Italian drawl from the Scout peering at her from the counter where she sits. They havenât met before but, now would be a good time to do that. Talking and meeting other Mercenaries. Woo, socializing! Ceres wasnât all about it.
âYeah? Like what?âÂ
Tessa turned her head raising her chocolate brown eyebrows up high. GreatâŚa scout.Itâs better then sitting by yourself. In one little huff, Tess gave a red lip smile, her white teeth barely peering through.Â
âIâm Tessa , you can call me Tess if you want.â
âThe people, I supposeâ
Ceres looks down at her with a solemn expression. The people sheâs come into contact with are quieter than when she first took to these fields. Things are personal and more of a mess too. She couldnât go too much into depth with it.
âMy name is Ceres. Itâs..â, I couldnât say, ânice to meet youâ
Such formalities arenât expected from her class. What her class entails is what the previous scout left behind and itâs unpleasant to deal with now at times.
âHow long have you been here Tess?â
âI could of never guessedâ
She gave a half laugh and half shrug. âNice to meet you Ceres, pretty nameâ
The people, the people the people, itâs always the people. Itâs people that made her come here, itâs people that made her leave, itâs the people that made her come back.
âI had a 5 year contract here 4 years back, it expired so I left to go do somethings. Somethings made me come back and renew.â
âThank youâ
She had yawned as she said it. The Scout rolls her shoulders.
âIf I may ask, what was your class?â
She hated that question, no one ever thinks she should be a solider.Â
âOnce a solider, always a solider. I came back to resume my position.â
She smiles at those words, liking how they sound despite their deeper premise.
âThatâs admirable. Most donât want to return to such a titleâ
âThanks, it was the only thing I was good at. I didnât really have as much of a choice.â
Soldier, solly, same shit. Youâre either dumb as rocks or lost your so called freedom. A quick glance of the scout, she knew she wasnât the worse off.
She could of been a scout.
Not much of a choice? Hm..
Thatâs not true in the slightest. Thereâs always a choice, and she had chose to come back and do this. To be a Soldier. Someone that isnât afraid to get up close and blow people to bits and pieces.
âI wonât agree with you on that but, I take it you were a fine soldier. Someone respectableâ
âThank you, I showed no mercy on the field. I just wish when I left I didnât need to come back, but what can I do the past is the past.â
Tomorrow was her first battle in 4 years with respawn. When she left it was a never ending battle. World works in weird ways.Â
âWhat brought you here?â
âI fled my homeland in search of sanctuary from the misdeeds of my people. Ideally, this isnât it, but Iâve made the most of it with the people Iâve met and will continue to meet. Itâs strangely better than what I had wantedâ
The exact details were too personal for a first meeting, but itâd suffice to tell her this much.
