They also share their intro scene with their love interests, Vaggie and Val. Vaggie treats Charlie to support, listens to her, tells her "I enjoy your theatrics," etc. As some and I have pointed out in other posts, while Chaggie and Staticmoth share a lot of good points - both relationships are affectionate, loyal, and close - Val lacks Vaggie's empathy, and as such is not able to soothe Vox down when he crashes out the way Vaggie does for Charlie.

Direct Dialogue comparison:

Charlie: Not that long, only...seven....years, off doing something important, I'm sure! But, this kingdom was something she really cared about. Something I care about. 

Vaggie: Well, at least you aren't alone.

Vox/Val:

Vox: It's been seven years!

Valentino: You still pissed that he almost beat you that time?

Vox: Uh, FUCK YOU.

As we'll see pay off in Season 2, the primary thing that saves Charlie from becoming just like Vox, her dark foil, is that she has an empathetic, kind-hearted girlfriend who can support her and sympathize with her problems. Val lacks that empathy and instead of reassuring Vox like Vaggie does, taunts him and exacerbates all his insecurities.

Charlie, in reading "the book of hell" puts her parents on a pedestal, calling them "rebellious dreamers" who "fell deeply in love", who "wished to share the magic of free will with humanity", which could be true, but is probably a part of the story they tell to make themselves seem like misguided idealists. It's too cloying, too idealized, to be the reality of Lil and Lu. In Charlie's book, her parents were perfect. Lilith "thrived...empowered demonkind with her hope and her songs", etc. Charlie has her mother on an idealized pedestal, one which may come crashing down when she learns about Lilith's deal. But for now, it's obvious that Charlie has modeled herself after Lilith, singing and inspiring hope and wanting to be just like her.

Vox in 1x02 protests very very loudly that Alastor is "a loser, a fossil, a coward", etc., spitting off his long list of insults. But we know from later seasons that Vox's real opinion couldn't be any further from this. Al is "inspiring", he's the person Vox wants to impress no matter what. He sees Alastor as this perfect powerful figure, who he wants to tear down as revenge for the rejection, but he has Alastor as high up mentally as Charlie holds her mom. The perfect flawless image of what he wants to be and can never live up to. Who we know only got that power through a deal. And i t goes without saying that Vox has modeled himself after Alastor. Many posts have already pointed that out.

We see both characters in their work environments. Charlie gives Alastor suggestions about the commercial timidly, Vox contrasts her by giving authoritative commands to Ethan and bluffing in front of the camera.

Vox: With this new oncoming threat, we are shifting our focus, to your protection. We are pleased to announce-VoxTek Angelic Security coming soon!

Charlie: The commercial was to let sinners know we are trying to help them...

Right away, both characters try to go on TV to announce that they are offering away to escape the angelic exterminations. Charlie offers redemption, Vox offers tech designed to presumably make him more money. Both at their core, both are public figures offering the people hope in the form of safety from the angels, and fighting back in their own way. Sure that won't come back at any point in the future.

Charlie then proceeds to try to appeal to/overcome her enemies with sheer presentation and personality, tackling her foes head on and failing spectacularly when Adam shuts her down completely, in fact only making the problem worse.

They actually even adopt similar tactics when dealing with someone they're trying to persuade:

Charlie: Adam. You seem like a smart— (pauses) …well, stand up guy.

Adam: (picking his teeth) Uh-huh.

Charlie: And I know you are the leader of the angels. And you are a big thinker, a revolutionary. A— A genius!

Adam: I mean, your words, babe.

Charlie: Who would really love to put his name on something.

Adam: Fucking love putting my name on shit! Shit's the best!

Vox to Alastor in the flashback:

Past Vox: You're inspiring! Really! And when you think about it, modern entertainment actually started with radio.

Past Vox: Ah, am I boring you with my compliments?

Past Alastor: Perhaps.

Past Vox: (blushing) Well, look, I'll just get to the point. We've been close for a few years now, right? I mean, people know us, they love us. And with new Overlords popping up every day, and before you hit me with a, (in Alastor impression) "Well, you're pretty new yourself." I know, okay, but I'm much more forward-thinking, so it's in your best interest to hear me out.

Past Alastor: I'm listening, pal. 

Something C&V have in common: Pouring on the sugar.

Both crash out in their attempt to challenge and defy their nemesis and swear loudly after it goes south. Charlie screams 'Oh, shit!" at the end of Hell is Forever, Vox screams "Fuuuuuck" at the end of Stayed Gone.

So what both have in common already is that they've both been introduced spectacularly failing in their goals and being utterly trounced by their enemies.

Right from the first two episodes then, if you're looking for it, Vox & Charlie's similarities are clear. Both are motivated by a desire to surpass the person they idolize. Both are charismatic public figures with bubbly energy and a complicated relationship with their love interests. Both are driven to present themselves as benevolent leaders (with cute drawings!), and both are hyper-motivated to succeed, but because both are so insecure and driven to have even their enemies like them, both phenomenally crash out in their first appearances instead of winning.
