i think there's been a misunderstanding
First - Previous - Next
(also i should mention to not confuse people, i did change simon's outfit to be more like his movie-one. i just didn't like drawing the one i put him in. i hadn't thought too far ahead when making that first comic so now im kinda retcon-ing the "lore" to fit my new plan, as vaguely described below \/)
ive got a bit more of a plan now so i dooonnttt think ill need to retcon anything else?? also fun to realize im not stuck in my previous past mistakes because this is literally a fan comic and i can do what i want
close ups (+ the full prayer since people kept asking) \/

im getting way too invested in this comic. anyway here's the mini comic from before this scene \/

buncha close ups down here \/
what is it with able bodied people saying “get well soon” after you say that you’re chronically ill?? like? i am not gonna? and i once literally responded with “i’m not gonna, it’s chronic, as in permanent.” and they went like “oh well, hope you get better!” like bro 💀
Speaking for me personally (and also as someone who has their own chronic health issues), most of it is, as someone mentioned in the replies, script failure. Humans have a lot of scripts and shorthands for social interactions, and the most common one for finding out someone is ill or injured is to wish them a swift recovery. There isn't really a script for how to respond when someone won't recover tho, and so many people end up falling back on the script they do know even if it's not really applicable.
In my own personal experience, when I end up saying - or feeling the impulse to say - 'get well soon' to someone with a chronic condition, what I'm really trying to convey is something more along the lines of 'I hope your good days outnumber the bad ones', and 'I hope you find treatment that is effective for and accessible to you', and especially 'hey the fact that you are in pain sucks and I wish you weren't but I know that's not likely to change soon but also I hope that it will anyway because I hate to see people suffering and the 5-year-old inside me is insisting it's not fair even though the adult me knows that's not how it works but anyway the point is I hope you're in as little pain as it's possible for you to be in'. All of which is quite a bit harder to fit on a greeting card than 'get well soon', and which don't have any conveinent shorthands that will let me express those sentiments in a concise, understandable manner.
thank you so much for explaining this! i saw the “script failure” reply but didn’t really understand what that meant & also didn’t have the time before to further ask.
but this actually makes sense and i think i’ll try to just take it to mean things like that whenever someone wishes me well/a swift recovery now! again, thank you so much!!
This is such a good interaction from everyone involved and now the world is a little better because people understand each other better.
This is so good. All interactions should be this.
Good job everyone, let's hit the showers

I've just discovered there's a reddit user that's editing warhammer into historical art peices and photos that Tumblr deserves to see
Credit to u/TheTwist, please check out all their edits, and if you have a reddit account, tell them what you think of their work.
and my personal favourite
they also have a series on warhammer characters in dresses titled "the prittiest X"
Hi! you're in luck! Fuedal worlds are a catagory of planet within the Imperium of man, they're basically exactly what you're looking for, planets with a dark ages to pre-industrial levels of civilisation set under the backdrop of a vast & crumbling interstellar empire held together only by the sheer innertia of the thing. they're often deliberately held back as harsher worlds produce hardier recruits for the Imperial Guard and Space Marines
the most frequent example are the home planets of knight houses, they're much like the knights of old with hirearchies and chivalric honour and courtly politicing, with the sole distinction being that the Knights in question are metres tall mechs capable of dropping a kiloton's worth of munitions in a single voley
Warhammer 40,000 as a setting is large enough and more or less has built in justification for running an army however the hell you want, right down to a horde of tiny guardsmen clad in knight armour
One time I came home from uni very upset and my younger siblings asked what's wrong. I said that mutated flies in our lab escaped because someone broke their jar. I didn't even realise how scary it sounded to them until I saw their faces lmao. I was upset because we were short on said flies (they don't reproduce very well) and my siblings thought that some crazy radioactive fly monsters escaped and we are all fucked now. Love being a mad scientist in their eyes lowkey
Here’s the thing: authors know when they get a rec on an older story. There’s a telltale uptick of kudos (with a 10-15% comment rate if you’re lucky) in your digest email.
The thing is, there’s no way to know where these people are coming from. In the before, when fandom was more in the corners we all knew about, you could search LJ or a message board or whatever social bookmarking site we were using. You could join the community and participate.
You could get a little dopamine hit by seeing someone tell their friends why they loved your story.
Anymore, those recs are hidden in discords, or in tiktoks or instagram slideshows that you can’t search for. They’re inaccessible, not discoverable unless you’re already there. You may never know why 27 people left kudos on an old story of yours, what they liked and found in your writing. You just get the thumbs up and a kinda lonely feeling, cause these could be your people. You could like them, maybe. You could be friends.
But you’ll never find out why they stopped by, or what people are saying about you behind your back, and that’s sad.
So thank you to the people who still do public rec lists on this webbed site. You are my sunshine, and I’m appreciative of all of you.
If you are recced a fic and enjoyed it, leave a comment telling the author where you came from! We like to know!

When I was in grade school I used to send emails to biologists and zoologists asking them questions to get answers to include in school projects I was working on, and would cry when they did not respond because I thought I was stupid for thinking that some random kid would ever be deserving of a response from someone who does something as smart and cool and important as *checks notes* studies frog fungus.
Now, at 29, I’m lowkey having a panic attack because my academic email is filled with middle schoolers wanting me to answer their questions about pygmy raccoons and I keep putting off answering them because I’m so overwhelmed with all the other raccoon stuff I have to do.
Anyway, greatest apologies to any scientist I ever emailed as a child and also an adult.
I know your research is really important and I appreciate all you are doing but this is so fucking funny
Y'all for real please do these. Even if you're certain your posture doesn't suck. One day you will wake up with impinged shoulder pain like I did and let me tell you it fucking HURTS. Do these exercises even just once a week and it will make such a difference. Especially my fellow creatives out there, stop shrimping over your work and go do these right now. RIGHT NOW.
Also, if you’re even a little concerned about getting a hump or having trouble standing fully upright in your old age, this is how you prevent that. If you want to be up and about when you’re old you have to start when you’re younger. And keep in mind there is no bad time to start and it’s never too late. Starting today is way better than never starting at all.
