i'm not even watching anymore, but reading the scripts it's like they're recycling eva's issue w weed from s1 and sprinkling prejudice/racism to make it pop

wardrobe appreciation ♡ amira naybet (skam españa s4)
Every version of Isak used a girl to cover up his sexuality. Even Chris kind of used Ruben. And that was fine. But now that similar storyline is villinizing Kasim? Is the story villinizing him or is the fandom? And don't get me wrong, what he is doing is wrong and it's hurting Amira but at least he was honest with her. And he has time to fix this mistake because he is a scared teenager who makes mistakes. I hate that Amira is in the middle of this. She doesn't deserve it and she asked him repeatedly to not do this. He didn't respect her boundaries and that's wrong and it's fixable.
Also when Amira said she is going to see Chris's girlfriend, she says remember I told you about her, which suggests Dunia doesn't care about it. So she probably won't have a problem with Kasim's sexuality. The first person Kasim told was an accepting muslim woman. Nothing in the show actually shows us homophobic muslims. It only shows us Kasim's fear. And I am genuinely happy for those of you who have supporting communities around you, especially if you are a part of a religious community, I am very happy that you found that and that it exists. But my personal experience, which makes this take biased I guess, is not as accepting. My parents aren't even that religious and I would never even think about coming out to my parents, at least until I am financially independent.
So maybe we can stop using the word villainized and grant Kasim the same opportunity for growth as we do to other characters. Idk

I know it’s complicated. Really fucking complicated.
hi there!! sorry to bother you... i think i came into your askbox a while ago, when the season was announced in april, to talk about the relationship between dani and amira. i'm the daughter of a christian father and a muslim mother, so i've been really excited to watch this story unfold, especially as i find myself more drawn to my mother's religion. i know i can't speak for all muslims, or people with muslim families, but i've found this season to be very strong and very uplifting. (cont)
I’ve never seen a story done like this respectfully, like my parent’s story, in any form of media, and I think (other than the al qaeda comment, which I really hope they resolve) they’re doing a wonderful job expressing the difficulty in falling for someone outside of your religion. It makes me a little sad to see everyone so up in arms rn, which I get because spoilers are upsetting, (cont 2)
but it does deflate me when I see people say a story like this doesn’t deserve to be told over another version of it. Idk… sorry for ranting I just wanted to maybe reach out, as the product of a multi-religious household, and say I’m really enjoying the series and I’m showing it to my mother and she really, really likes it. maybe not everyone will vibe with the story they’re telling, but I feel really seen and heard.
Im so glad you came and said this tbh i think we all need to chill out for a second and think that just because the season might not be what you expected doesn’t mean that its going to be bad or its not going to touch some very important subjects. so thank YOU for coming here and saying this
watching the girls going to the movies hits different when your country is still keeping movie theaters closed
every other episode is like *Kato or Moyo argue over misinterpretation and perceived ill intent* and maybe that's the theme of the season (we also see Zoe making assumptions about Kato, the girls own perception of Moyo as a fuckboy), but there's never any build up? it's just these characters assuming things about each other back and forth, never talking about it and storming off. If we're gonna do a revamped Pride & Prejudice thing here, let them actually have conversations, not even to resolve everything right away, but to give their misunderstanding of each other some nuance.
