Anyways since I’ve switched to the mindset of “I’m just gonna keep trying and not try to pass final judgement on myself because that’s above my pay grade” I have unsurprisingly had way less nights sobbing on the floor convinced that I’m a terrible irredeemable piece of human garbage.

i'm rewatching the first episode of bridon arc and this whole scene makes me want to scream.

imagine you're cheng xiaoshi. you have abandonment issues due to your parents mysteriously leaving you as a small child. one day you meet a boy, and in his eyes you see the same secrets your parents kept from you. he's kind and good, but he's hiding something, and you're afraid it will take him away from you the same way it took your parents.

and you're cheng xiaoshi, so you can't be upfront and honest about these fears, and you have to mask your vulnerability with jokes. but he doesn't treat it like a joke. he says i won't disappear. he says i can use these powers for you. he says i can't promise forever, but i'll stay here as long as i can.

What if the reason KRS didn't die in his childhood/the apocalypse was not based on luck but was cause KRS hated himself.

And now, in Part 2, when the soos are back. Do you think they ever talk about the lives that can never return. About the family they had built up together, all for it to disappear one sudden evening. And now, and now. They're supposed to move on. Their lives are different and even their names are, and the dead never return.

Do you wonder if Cale, ever lost in the haze of his records, brings up an inside joke of the team, or a breeze that reminds him of a funny mission they went to ages ago. And then the other two still, because they don't have Record. They flinch and freeze because they still remember and it doesn't bring them joy, nothing quite like nostalgia.

Do you wonder if Cale never brought that topic up again (in his mind he's the only soul stuck in time). Do you think of all the times they saw each other and laughed like a ghost, hesitating but never uttering a word of the past (all of them are stuck forever).

Do you ever think of the many ways they're intertwined in and despite the gaps in their lives and grief and the closeness in their bond that transcended a human's primal urge to survive, they'll never be close? Never enough. The past is there and they can feel the warmth of the person standing next to them, but it's never gone, never quite. Always a two step distance.

It hadn't been like that once in the past.
