[Magi reread] Night 101: Dark Djinn Equip
Y'know, I had other plans. I wanted to write for zooma, but then Yudja decided it's the perfect time to go through Ohtaka's comments throughout Magi, we started talking, and here I am again. I'm joking of course, I'm not mad. I miiiight start SnB reread sooner than planned cuz I was kinda more SnB mood than Magi proper. Oh well, we'll see. Also, I was rereading my reread (Zagan Arc) to kinda gather my thoughts back, and, man, every time I come back it's because of Yudja.
"Magic belongs to the population!" and then Mogamett threw like most of the population under the academy to serve as a magoi furnance. Which we don't know yet, but for all it's worth, the magicians' silhouettes look quite ominuous. Then again, it's Dunya's memory, I think, so it's not much of a surprise.
Honestly, if I didn't know what Mogamett ends up doing, it's hard not to be kinda on his side here. Which I think is pretty great writing of the conflict. Just, there's a lot going on there and no side is simply "good" or "evil".
In the end, it doesn't really matter, because it's the innocents who suffer.
Can't really blame her for this, tbh.
Djinn Equip explained! I don't remember if it was explained before tbh, maybe it was. Anyway, obviously that's what Alibaba latches onto, and also God is Dunya unsettling. It's that smile, y'know? That damn smile.
I wanted to add just Dunya's smile from the first from right, then noticed Aladdin pointing and for some reason I've found it very funny.
Ok, my joke was there that why would you tell them that, but, let's be real, jack is what they can do about it.
Kudos to Aladdin for knowing when not to engage, but also man, he sure is going through it here. I think the best part is, I know they win, obviously, but I don't remember how they win, so feels like I'm going blind. Genuinely, how do you fight that. Best I could consider is exhausting her again, which I'm sure was Aladdin's aim, but immediately that idea is cut down - his Borg can't handle the attacks, and the weapons can change the shape anyway Dunya wishes.
Also I love it gets out of the panel.
One day I really should do that compiliation of Alibaba shielding people. Also, love the arm on the back. Balbadd Royal Swordplay go!
:sigh: that I did remember.
This entire thing is both messed up and sad. Dunya literally has no one, just a puppet playing a role of her dead friend. It's just. Man.
Y'know, Dark Metal Vessels are actually kinda sick when you think about it. Al-Thamen honest-to-Il-Illah managed to create artificial MVs, Djinns and Djinn Equip, and even Household Vessels which aren't even limited to, like, living beings. Insane when you think about it.
Like, crearting Dark Djinns makes some sense when you remember at least bits and pieces of how Djinns came to be, but beyond that? Damn. Also, do you think that it'd be possible for the Djinns to, like, equip themselves?
Tbh, I do wonder how Dark DEs work. I mean, Dunya here is equipping herself, so, does it actually protect her? Or is it just a power up? Like, properTM Djinn Equips do protect their Kings, we see it in Magnostadt Arc when touched by Medium they don't immediately die. Like, sure, they get hurt badly, but the alternative is much worse. Also, man, how convinient Kouen was there with Phenex.
Y'know, it's a valid expression given the situation, but it's also kinda funny.
Love that she notices Alibaba is trying to see Isaac's movements, that's my experienced boy, and ofc classic case of my faves being bloody <3 And, again, I thought "why are you explaining him stuff" and, also again, "tf does that change for him, he's still ridiculously fast".
Alibaba's just very backstabbable, huh.
Aladdin to the rescue! And I get the idea, but I still think it's not-
-oh, yeah, that's even worse.
