here is the truth about this project: i fucking hate it, but it's done.
the pattern is bramble, which is a nightmare of a pattern. the second chart is completely broken, and then the math on the third section does not function at all, and the result is something that is a misery to deal with and horrible to use, and required a ton of revisions (thank you to appraisingraven on ravelry who fixed the broken charts, i ended up tossing the written repeat out entirely for the failed math and swapped to the final chart in full).
this is done entirely laceweight in merino. the pattern as it goes buds from branches into leaves, so i made it for my baby cousin's upcoming bat mitzvah. it's in her favorite colors. i'm not going to be able to attend due to the ongoing uhhhhh in the states, so i have to hope it's going to mean something to her, to see her journey mirrored in thread and lace. i'm not sure she'll understand what an undertaking this was right away, but i know someday she will. it's the most complicated thing i've ever done by a country mile.
my favorite part is honestly the section where it was leaves with one space between them. the resulting airyness and openness and shift and shape is lovely.
i forgot to take photos of all the other pieces i made for my baby cousins (including two pairs of socks and some drawstring bags) so this is standing in for all of them to hold the free space for @2026-fiber-arts-bingo, and now that it is done and i am finally free after four straight months of effort, i am going to do literally anything else with my crafting life.
This was an epic labor of love and you did such a wonderful job! I know your cousin will love it and will appreciates the work and heart and love that went into it. Major bummer re: badly written pattern, but you made it through and now you never have to look at that pattern ever again.
That lace motif really is so pretty, I really like the leaves, and the color changing adds so much dimension. Really great work!
Always exciting to get a chance to photograph Brown Thrashers. I was really excited to see this juvenile with one of it's parents. The juvenile, in the front, has blue eyes, as it ages they will turn the bright yellow of the adults.
