Supernatural
Friday 2nd December saw myself, Rowena, Peta (not the organisation) and Marion head on down to williamstown for the ghost tour. This is all part of my plan to see more of Australia and what is has to offer. Two hours of walking down dark alleys later and I wished I'd brought a muffin or some beer. Either way, I wouldn't recommend it. Not sufficiently creepy.
Note to self. When making up company name. "ask somebody"
The art of being lazy
One of the biggest misnomers of the world is that all Australian people are healthy. That the lifestyle here just forces you to eat well and exercise a lot. Clearly whoever said this has never been offered a TimTam. To refuse that is not something anyone with a soul could do. That said, it's 4pm and I'm in bed for the third time today. Woke up at 7:40 for gym. Back in bed, out again for breakfast and then now back in the sack. Now this behaviour in itself is normal if said bed is not empty. Sadly mine is...
101 reasons why I'm still at the gym: #65 The barbell sit up. I would like to state for clarity that the gentleman in the picture above is in fact NOT me. I know it's hard to believe, but I've not gone that native. My trainer Ben (formerly the trainer of one Joe Savage) likes to change things up and this is one of the crushing exercises he uses. Holding the barbell above your head, swinging and using your abs to sit up and keep the barbell above your head at full mast. By crushing however, I mean to my ego as my co-ordination does not allow for those combination of finishing moves to execute fully. Rumour has it there is a video out there of me attempting this exercise... Though I assure you all copies were burned.

The Sportsbet poker team at the corporate games yesterday. I can discuss how badly I did, but it reminded me how much I really loved playing the game with my brother Joe. He's an intense guy who really gets into the game and really creates a great atmosphere!
Cheating for movember. That's right! I refuse to break out the porn star tash until the last possible moment. Which will coincide with a work dinner :(
Sunny Melbourne
So apparently I've been mighty lucky with the winter weather. It's 23 degrees and windy here which suits me just fine. I've gone local so the thongs (flip flops) are out. My 'other' thongs are in the wash. I've yet to fully settle here and start making the most of the country, that will happen after the spring carnival. I'm starting to see why Melbourne is the most liveable city. Everything is here and it's all for us adults. ;) I've met some great Irish here and the Australians are showing themselves somewhat. Neil is making living here awesome, and the constant visits from Joe mean the bromance is well and truly alive. Travel plans: 16/17th I'm at the Ireland v Australia match in New Zealand. 20th September until 30th I'm in Dublin. 1st/2nd I'm in London 3rd until 8th Dublin again before back to Melbourne for the 10th. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
I'm alive...
Only just mind.Â
I landed in Melbourne just under two months ago, so my apologies that this blog has yet to receive updates of where I'm staying, what and who I'm doing. Ruddager (my PC) has gone through a divorce in transit and is still without a monitor or cables. I've no doubt that this will be resolved shortly however ;) I have to say thank you to both Brian and Fran for packaging the old boy up and sending him over.Â
So things have been good here; thanks to Facebook, WhatsApp, Skype, the Postman and the old telephone, most of you have been in touch. For those that have not, close this browser window now - I'm coming to 'get' you!
Rather then a big long post, I'll do multiple little ones with pictures of where I'm working or living, or parties I go to, and random people I meet. To keep this short, here are 10 things from the trip so far:
1) I moved in with Neil (Savage #1) 2) It's cold. I now wear a t-shirt in bed. 3) I got all my tax back, P50 FTW! 4) I got free gym membership (thanks Richie) 5) I can now cook (real food) 6) I spent three weeks in bed with a panda (who is now a seal) 7) I've gotten laid once 8) I've told one person I liked them 9) Person #8 was not person #7 10) I've yet to be attacked by a Spider, though I await them with a lighter and a bottle of lynx.Â
So I'll throw some other posts up shortly (I take requests), but for now be safe in the knowledge that I'm going to see Harry Potter tomorrow night, and I couldn't be more excited.
Find me on Skype (conorsavage)
Conorfest 2011 officially began three days ago. A novel idea and what I had originally planned as a nice dinner with friends, turned into a 5am taxi home. ;)
I can only hope those I meet in Melbourne are half as awesome as friends I've got here. They're a crazy bunch, but my friends, so they're forgiven ;)

Project Management - blurg.
I've noticed as I've spent the last few weeks studying and writing notes how disgraceful my writing has become. I've yet to become one of those people that writes 'ur' or '4' in a text, so it's safe so say my grammar is in tact, but as the cramp in my right hand will attest to; I can no longer write for shit :(
I've got some of the most amazing friends in the world. I am going to miss them all, some more than others ;)
Some friendships took long months and sometimes years to develop and others simply took a phone call - this is one of those friendships. Michelle decided to stop what she was doing in work yesterday and put together a little something to help me survive in the big bad world that is Australia! ;)
Leaving Dublin...
The countdown has begun; only 49 days until I fly outta here. First stop Chicago, then Seattle for a few days, until I land in Melbourne.
A couple of months ago a good friend of mine (Alison) mentioned that her photography lecturer in DIT was looking for volunteers for one of his projects, 'leaving dublin'.
David Monahan (Blog here) is running a project taking pictures of people/family's who are emigrating, all sitting on the same suitcase. He was interested on what made people want to pack up everything and leave. I was looking for an interesting background image for this blog, so I was delighted to get involved. (involvement = 15 minutes sitting on Capal St. bridge)
This is a great project and he has taken some amazing shots. My chosen location at the bridge was due to it being one of the most central locations in Dublin for me. I've always worked/lived/drank within a few minutes of that bridge and the shot itself is (I think) pretty good. Damn, I look tired though.
If anyone wants to more, head over to David's blog and get in touch:

Hello Thesaurus!
As I sit in one of the computer rooms in Trinity, my project team are putting the finishing touches to our project dissertation.
The Hungry Bear (http://hungrybear.comerford.cc - test site) are three words I never want to hear again. It's one thing going to college when you're 18, full time and don't have a care in the world, with rent of €60 a week. It's a completely different kettle of fish when you're 26, highly competitive and aiming for an awesome grade.
I'd not idea what this project would take out of me; a fully functioning eCommerce website with a crackin back office application, all told is probably worth the guts of 7k! And we did it all for free, well, a grade also.
Going back to college while I work full time is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I'm tired all the time yes, like a new mother whose kids just won't shut up - but in contrast, my mind has never been sharper and I've never enjoyed work so much now that so much more of it makes sense. So continued education is a yes in my book; thought the original college experience was something that I could never replace, nor the people that came with it. Thanks for Fran for that little email in 2008 that led me here today :)
So 'cheers' to my team (Michelle & Karen), it's been a wonderful, horrible, rememberable six months... now let's never meet again! :)
We're off the pub, hope you are too!

The Script
I got a nice surprise on Thursday night from Marion with last minute tickets to go see the script on the Friday. It took me a while to take this in as I was up for 24 hours straight nearly with work; but I got the general gist.
Friday 11th March 2011 will forever be remembered as the six whisky's still standing Conor.
The band were great live, sounded fantasic and really gave an awesome set. Only my second gig there since The Point became the o2, and I have to say it is a great venue! Roll on Melbourne and all the gigs it has to offer!
Poor Marion...

Eden
Bah;
I've been trying to upload a video from the launch of Eden's second album Electric. My crappy internet connection wouldn't let me. I have some great footage of one of the best songs on the album 'Going, Going, Gone!'
Anyway, since technology has decided to fail me once again (*shakes first*), I shall settle for a link to their MySpace page (Eden Official) and an important message from me.
 - "Go to Tower Records. Buy this album!"
neiljsavage:
Geek out - this movie MUST get a distributor…someone buy it please!
