BUT. And this is a big but. I like the mouthwashes to have 0.2% NaF. Both in uk and us over the counter mouthwashes only reach 0.05% NaF. The thing with me is that I'm very SCIENCE and study based as a dentist, and according to studies there is nothing proving that 0.2% NaF is anything but beneficial.

So if you're feeling tryhard ... This bad bitch can be bought on amazon...

But yeah otherwise the Colgate one is completely fine, in the US I can't even find a way to get 0.2% NaF without prescription so ...

Hello darling ! YES omg it's very VERY important to maintain good oral hygiene when you have braces. It was actually an exam question during my Cariology course. We got this picture:

Which is Caries Incipiens caused by brackets (braces). Incipiens mean caries without cavity yet and back in the days, this had to be treated by drilling and filling but thanks to science we now know that enamel can remineralize with remineralization therapy (visits at the dentist every 3 months to fluoride coat the teeth etc).

Oral care with braces in general is as you say, as normal! Start with flossing, then brush your teeth, then do fluoride wash during the day (I do after lunch and after my mid day snack to make sure I always have fluoride in my mouth). Then during night time, floss and brush! Some dentists say floss 2x a day, in my opinion once a day is enough. I do it in the evenings because I like sleeping with them fully fresh! Make sure to use a soft bristled brush and brush the braces thoroughly!

As you know, it's impossible to floss braces with threats. That's where this bad boy comes in (and I use it as well despite not having braces bc they're so fucking goooood):

Mouthwash I always recommend ACT if you're in the US, if you're in Europe go for Flux/Oralflux. It's important that it has fluoride, ignore those "good breath" mouthwashes bc what makes your mouth stink is build up, tartar and bacteria accumulating and if you use those good breath mouth washes you kill off ALL the bacteria, even the ones killing the bad ones. Remember, the oral cavity is the first line of defense in our immune system! Having non-carious teeth and flossing (bc between the teeth the bacteria is STINKING) will prevent bad breath

Toothpaste, as long as it has 1450 ppm fluoride I'm a happy camper. If you have sensitive teeth I recommend Sensodyne. DONT use those fuckass TikTok toothpastes, charcoal or anything that claims it whitens your teeth bc;

why do you think it whitens them? bc they're literally removing the outer layer of enamel that is "miscolored." but fun fact? what's beneath enamel: DENTIN. which color is dentin? YELLOW! So using anything that says it's ONLY whitening will literally make your teeth more yellow

I use Oral-B and Sensodyne but legit it's just a matter of preference. If you have periodontal disease, Parodontax is good!

Anything going between your teeth (interdental brushes or tooth floss) is accepted. Try to do it at least once/day, I do it in the evenings! Trust me, brushing your teeth only cleans like 70% of the tooth at best. Make sure to go between them!

A gentle reminder that white teeth isn't our goal, and I believe that's some kind of strange social media propaganda ... Good teeth are the ones with pink gums, no pathologies, no caries, mineralized and healthy <3

Aww noo!!! I'm ignoring AP calc bc that shit's hard af, it's difficult to study for but AP Psych is like you're saying just memorizing.. In the future, I recommend the Anki app!! I use it for biology (which ap psych had a lot of, like anatomy and neuroscience, nervous and endocrine systems and neurotransmitters all of it is just memorizing) (well maybe not the transmitters that's a bit of understanding too) and like pharmacology yk so check that out!

Don't beat yourself up too much over your memory though, AP Psych isn't just remembering terms... it throws in scenarios where you have to distinguish between like four concepts that all sound the same. I know a lot of ppl struggled with AP psych this year too idk if they changed it or smth?

Hello, don't worry I'm fine with talking about it but yes my little prince Milo passed away the 25th of June this year at 11 years old 🥺🤎 I talked a bit about it and what happened HERE, but there's multiple posts about him under the tag #milo. It's been rough! We knew of his condition (liver cancer) since 2 years back, and I cried my guts out when we got the diagnose so I thought I'd be a bit prepared for the day when it comes but trust me when I say that looking down at our furry friends in their last moments, there's NOTHING that can prepare us for the day

If you only took the AP classes for the GPA boost and you've already graduated, failing the AP exams isn't as bad as it might've felt initially... If you've already applied to a college and got in and feel committed to it, you just won't receive college credit for those exams and that's fine ngl

You're not alone though, more people than you can imagine end up where you are, and they still go and do great in college! Once your freshman year starts, I promise those AP scores become a tiny footnote compared to everything else you'll be doing

Now I know I can't speak bc I'm not fully consistent right now, but with WTI I was really consistent and that made my readers build some kind of trust to me (reader x author trust is important af) so rn even though I'm going through a bit of a rough patch since my dog's passing my readers know they can trust me and that I'd never abandon them for long <3

sry for rant ily anon istg i'm gentler in the clinic. Today I had a child patient, he was four years old and had run straight into a wall and chipped his upper canine (milk vampire tooth). I took xrays and did a clinical examination and I was like "alright I can't tell from the xray if the permanent tooth is affected but I'm putting this tooth into observation. In the meantime I'll apply some fluoride gel to strengthen the tooth" and the damn MOTHER made a face and was like "uhm. how much fluoride? because I'm trying to avoid it. I've read that fluoride is poison" and good GOD I wanted to say some stuff to her but I tried to be informative and not judgy and went like "don't listen to those facebook posts he needs fluoride<3 fluoride isn't poison but caries is<3 he is 4 when he turns 6 he'll get his permanent teeth and without fluoride he's fucked<3 okay?<3" and she was pissy af about it and I went and vented to my colleagues about it and we all agreed that withholding fluoride from your child should be on par with not brushing them at all (if we're concerned by a child's dental health we can do a child welfare report but brushing without fluoride doesn't fall into it) like ok fine if you wanna mess up your teeth but don't do that to your child
