“I’m not doing it!” Draco snaps. “You can’t make me!”

“It’s the only bloody way, Draco,” Harry replies, clenching his fist into the night air.

They’ve been at this for the better part of half an hour, and Harry is tired, exhausted, and very ready for bed. Unfortunately, the cabin is on the other side of the river—along with their wands.

This is entirely Harry’s fault. It was his stupid idea to walk into the village.

“Just a quick drink,” he’d said.

The quick drink became several. Now it’s nearly midnight.

“My shoes cost more than this holiday,” Draco says tightly. “I refuse to get them wet.”

“I’ve already told you, I can lob them across easily,” Harry insists. “They’ll be fine. I got mine across.”

At least he hopes they’ll be fine. The river looks wider now. And it’s darker than it was earlier.

“You are not lobbing my Italian loafers, Harry!”

“Tuck them in your pockets, then.”

“My pockets aren’t big enough!”

Harry kicks at the ground in frustration and nearly slips in the mud on his bare feet. Draco, at least, has the decency to grab him.

“Oh, yes,” Draco says acidly. “‘We won’t need our wands, Draco.’ ‘We’ll be fine, Draco.’ ‘There’s no chance the bridge will flood, Draco.’”

Harry straightens. He both loves and hates it when Draco speaks in first person.

“I never said any of that,” Harry mutters.

“No, but you did say, ‘Oh, Draco, love of my life, wouldn’t it be fun if we spent a week away in a cabin and only used our wands for emergencies?’” Draco flutters his eyelashes—faux sweetness. Then he points at the river—jaw tight. “I would consider this an emergency.”

“If you take your shoes off and roll your trousers up—like me—you’ll be fine.”

“And catch the death of a cold?” Draco demands. “Do you want me to die, Harry?”

Harry opens his mouth. Closes it. Tries again. Gives up.

“You’ll have to carry me,” Draco says, almost bitterly, as if he can’t think of anything worse.

“Carry you?”

“Yes. Across the river. In your arms.”

“In my arms? Draco, you’re taller than me.”

“I know,” Draco says calmly. “But you’re meaty. Like a bear. I believe in you.”

Harry supposes he should feel some warmth at the notion of Draco believing in him, if it weren’t for the bear comparison.

“Fine,” he says. “Come here.”

He doesn’t give Draco time to reconsider. He lifts him carefully, arms tight around him.

“My shoes!” Draco squawks, fumbling just in time to snatch his loafers. He settles with a sigh. “Right. Forward, my fine steed.”

Harry wades in, water biting at his calves, then his knees. He winces—his trousers aren’t rolled up high enough—but at least the mud is washing off his feet.

“Who decides to wear Italian loafers in the middle of a forest?” Harry mutters.

“Who suggested spending our fifth wedding anniversary in the middle of a forest?” Draco fires back. “I told you Canada was a better idea.”

“I’ve told you,” Harry says through his teeth, “those hockey players are fictional. It’s Muggle television.”

Draco scowls at the reminder.

Then, slowly, a smile forms—small and gentle.

“You know what this reminds me of?” Draco says.

“What?” Harry asks. They reach the bank, and he steps up carefully, legs burning, trying not to let on that Draco isn’t as light as he looks as he sets him down.

“Our wedding,” Draco says fondly. “When you carried me over the threshold all those years ago.”

Harry snorts.

“Granted,” Draco adds, already walking toward the cabin, “we’d defiled every room by that point. But your respect for tradition was noted.”

Harry doesn’t answer, how can he when pleasure pools low. He just lunges, scooping Draco up again and slinging him over his shoulder.

“We’ve still got the sofa to defile,” Harry says.

“Unhand me, you heathen,” Draco laughs.

His shoes hit the ground.

A couple of folks in my drarry server have taken it upon themselves to host a drarry-themed raffle which benefits trans organizations.

Interested? This is what you can do to take part:

Sign up to contribute a raffle prize, which can be any type of fandom-related creation or gift (fic, art, bind, etc). You decide what you want's on offer, and under what constraints!

Enter the raffle by donating a $10 equivalent amount to any of the vetted orgs in our list that support trans folks in the UK.

Currently, we are still looking for people to contribute raffle prizes. The deadline for signing up is December 7th. The raffle will run in December while prize contributors will have January to create/send their prizes.

Hello friends! I, along with my co-mod, timothysboxers, are thrilled to announce that 25 Days of Draco and Harry will be back for 2025, celebrating its 15th year. Again, we thank navi1088 for creating our banner art. His work can be found at AO3 and tumblr under the same name.

For those who may not be familiar with this challenge, we have included the rules at the end of this post, and we <b>strongly</b> encourage you to read these.

And for the loyal fans of 25 Days of Harry and Draco: In 2025, we will be doing both Early-bird and Traditional prompts as usual. Again, we're running on LJ, DW and tumblr – the rules will be the same as last year.

Because it seemed to work out quite well last year, the Early-bird Prompts will once again be available in October, and we will be including the Image Descriptions along with the prompts.

Early bird prompts will be available no later than 12 October 2025, allowing creators around 7 weeks to work on their posts. The signup period will open on 5 October 2025.

We have a Discord server specifically for 25 Days of Draco and Harry participants. Like last year, this will be a place where early bird participants can discuss (in a channel just for them) the prompts and how they might use them. Traditional participants may join the Server at any time, and will also have dedicated channels for their prompts and discussions.

If you are creating individual works, please select "This Work is Part of a Series" to gather your works together. This will make them much easier to find in future!

If you are creating a multi-chaptered work, please use the "This Work has Multiple Chapters" option to ensure your chapters stay together.

The Early Bird and Traditional Prompt sets are different. We aim to have five or less prompts that appear in both sets.

25 Days of Draco and Harry 2025 - Traditional

No changes from prior years. An image prompt is posted starting at midnight US-EST on 1 December, and you create a work based on that prompt and post before the next day's prompt goes up.

Each of your posts can be part of a larger work or they can stand alone.

25 Days of Draco and Harry 2025 - Early Bird

You receive access to all 25 photo prompts at once when Early Bird access opens. This is a similar timeframe as previous years. The idea is to give participants time to prepare and create something before the insanity of December starts.

You will post one work per day for each prompt. This can be a stand-alone story or each day can be a part of a bigger story.

We also encourage individuals or a group to create a podfic of a past 25 Days story, subject to the consent of the author(s). ♥

The advantages are this:

1. you can use the picture prompts in any order you chose

2. you can start creating early and have many of your posts ready to go before December 1st.

3. you get the prompts all at once so you can pre-plan your story and how you will use each prompt.

The basic rules of 25 Days of Draco and Harry – Traditional Edition:

Hi friends - it's sassy_cissa here. As my co-mod said before thank you to everyone who participated in this year's fest.

However, I would be very remiss if I didn't personally thank @timothysboxers for basically carrying the fest alone this year. While he's the one who puts together all the brilliant AirTable forms and generally makes things easier, this year he did 95% of the posting also. Where was I? Well I buggered off for a 2 week holiday at the end of the fest. So while I was drinking and eating my way down the Rhine river from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland - Tim was holding down the fort and doing all the things I generally do at the end of the fest.

He's going to say it was "nothing" but trust me...it was. So please join me in a round of applause for him and everything he does for this fest.

So I'm going to leave you with a picture of the last sunset of my holiday - taken from the balcony off our room on the ship. And my undying gratitude for the best co-mod anyone could every hope for.
