the psp was an amazing device that could play ps2-level games on a device that you really could just take anywhere. i mean the carrying case i got with mine has a carabiner on it to hang off your belt loops and you can really just walk around like that. and it was really popular, of course it was. but then with ps vita they were like "what if you could get the psp but with all the things everyone was missing in the psp and with all the problems fixed" and everyone was like "no thanks" for some reason???
and with nintendo holding the monopoly again they kept making low power handhelds until nvidia started begging them to take the tegras off their hands, then they made the vita breed with the wii and guess what. people lost their shit for it right???
and then 10 years after the last time anyone's seen a live ps vita, everyone and their mother wants to make their own ps vita. but they couldn't figure that out for a decade so now everyone calls them steam decks
the vita could have been so good if they hadn't dumped tons of really expensive DRM shit onto it that jacked up the price of everything then fumbled big name titles that would have been console sellers
like the amount of DRM on that device was insane you couldn't use widely available storage options you needed proprietary versions that cost way more for the same amount of space, you couldn't move files onto or off of it yourself either you needed a proprietary program to transfer anything, iirc even the batteries for it had DRM and the whole thing was region locked so hard you couldn't switch psn accounts without doing a factory reset
and you could fit more games on that than you could on a (*checks inflation calculator*) 137 dollar ssd today, so really it's about average level of spitting on the customer
Somewhat ironically, despite all the drm making the consoles crash and burn for the average consumers, a jailbroken vita is incredibly good for serving as a mobile emulator.
I played so many NES, SNES, GBA, and PSP games on my Vita. Still have it around here somewhere...

I'm worried; I saw your "gets two injuries from doing DIY" and then I saw your digging a trench and fucked up your wrist. I have to ask; how many times have you gotten injured digging that trench?

I have a bad right wrist because my job (typing), my hobbies (crochet and computer games) and my various household chores (which currently involve using shovels, power tools and lugging around heavy wood and soil) all overwork it. I fractured the arm in a motorbike accident several years ago, and while I regained most of the strength and motion, it's below-par enough that the wrist has to work harder than it used to to get the same things done. I pushed myself too hard shovelling and exacerbated my RSI so now I'm on light duty until it recovers. I didn't injure myself in an unusual or drastic way digging the trench, only a very normal and boring way.
The DIY injuries in the other post are from building shelves and some new stairs.
As someone who fucked up their wrists typing far too much far too often, and is currently dictating this post by dictation program, have you considered using a dictation program for your stories?
I think half the reason SBaHJ exists is so that the kids can have some fun in-jokes to reference with each other (although obviously it's not as if Hussie is afraid of just doing that with real media, so)
There's this one muscle (I think?) on the outside of my hand/wrist that I fuck up whenever I do too much crochet. This prevents me from being able to lug heavy shit around my yard (something I need to do a lot of to get any yard work done.) Unfortunately my response to most injuries that prevent me from working is to occupy my hands while resting, with crochet. So you can see how this becomes a problem.
I managed to fuck up my hands enough that I can't type at all anymore, and resort to a combination of vocal controls via Talon ( https://talonvoice.com ) and foot controls with a trackball and fightpad remapped using Steam.
It's honestly not as bad as it sounds though—I've put over 700 hours into Rimworld purely using my feet, and plenty of other games that don't require super precise controls.
