The parcels were left by Hawk, just outside the door of Sareāwenās apartment. They were wrapped in plain brow paper, but tied with beautiful lace ribbon. Tucked under the ribbon, was an envelope sealed with the shimmering silver wax seal of Anorāthalas and inside, a letter.
āSareāwen.
I know you said you do not want hand outs, so do not consider these as such. Consider them a gift, from one friend to another, in times of hardship. I guessed your size, but Iiloridan would gladly tailor them to you if they are ill-fitting. Please, enjoy them; I look forward to seeing you in them when you visit the Court.
-Avie.ā
Within the parcels were clothes of every kind. Dresses, trousers, shirts and jumpers. Even underwear and hosiery, nothing too scandalous but all of high quality. She had even thrown in a few accessories, scarves and some of her own jewelry. Avie had thought of almost everything, delivering an entire wardrobe of interchangeable outfits in a modest number of items. It was by no means a show of extravagance, but one of rare kindness. She had clearly thought about what sort of things Sareāwen would like, and packaged each with care. It was the least she could do.
It was well into the afternoon and Sareāwen still lay asleep in her bed, the night before had not been kind and many bottles of Aurelianās wine were downed one after the other.Ā
Vaāmiran slowly sat on the edge of her bed with a large parcel in hand, gently he placed it by her feet as his hand slowly ran over her back.Ā āHey you...ā He started but his words trailed off.Ā
Sareāwenās eyes fluttered open and she sucked in a slow breath as her body leaned into the warmth of his touch.Ā āIs it morning already?ā Her voice was raspy and throat dry. Fingers moved to pinch the bridge of her nose as the pounding headache beat like never ending drums.Ā
Vaāmiran couldnāt help but smile at her words,Ā āNo, late afternoon. The girls wanted to bring your breakfast but I told them you were up late and needed to rest.ā Reaching for the glass of water by her bedside he brought it to her lips,Ā āHere, you need to drink.ā
āWhat a night...ā She muttered under her breath taking the glass in her hand slowly sipping down the contents.Ā āWhatās in the package?ā she asked rubbing the sleep away from her eyes.
āWhat makes you -ā His words were cut off by the flat expression she offered him in response.Ā āClothing, and some Jewelry.ā He quickly finished.Ā
āWhat?!ā She asked quickly sitting up to reach towards the parcel. Instantly the room began to spin and she regretted even opening her eyes.Ā āShe...ā
āYou were pretty convincing last night.ā He admitted,Ā āEven I almost believed you had I not known the truth.ā
His words were only met with a silent glare which only played off his own temperment.Ā āDoes it get any easier lying?ā
āI wasnāt lying, that was our home and everything we earned on our own. Without that income we now belong to the nobles who keep trying to pull my strings for their own political gains. Is that what you want for us? For our girls? I canāt go around dressed in the ridiculous clothing they give me and continue pretending to not be an Indaris dressed like that.āĀ
āI should sign you up for the next audition at the theater, youād make the perfect lead in one of their performances.ā He quipped back at her.Ā
āYouāre insufferable.ā She huffed back at him
Her words couldnāt help but bring a playful smile to his lips. Leaning forward he placed a single kiss to her temple which instantly washed away her growing frustration from their playful banter.Ā
āYou should write her back soon.ā He said as he made his way towards the doorway.Ā
āI will, thank you.ā Reaching for the letter that came with the parcel leaning back against her feather pillows to read the words so carefully inked. She laughed, and cried as the words lifted up a flutter in her heart.Ā āYou old sour puss.ā She teased.
Avie,
Thank you so much for the beautiful pieces of clothing, I will cherish each and everyone of them that you carefully picked out. I am to strong to ask for help so I want to thank you for realizing that I was in desperate need.Ā
I canāt wait to come visit you all and look forward to our next visit. It was a pleasure to meet Kalyanar, he is very charming and passionate. Iām glad you found happiness within him, I can tell you both have a deep care and fondness for one another.
If you still feel ill please come see me and I can give you a physical examination. I did not want to worry your partner anymore then he already appeared but I am worried about your health. If the illness manifests to physical symptoms please send for me at once.Ā

In a single instance where life blossomed along with her prospects everything had been stuck down so only rubble remained.Ā
Her throat felt dry as she sucked in the smoltering air around her, it was painful and the taste was of ash.Ā
With every step her leather boots dug into the fresh dirty one by one as she stumbled towards the field. A hand raised to cover her mouth as if that motion could keep the pained cry from escaping as the scene unfolded before her.
Bodies lay stretched across the field cut down one by one, some of their limbs several feet away from their remains. Her home and business burned to the ground, only the stone wall from the kitchen and its harth still stood.Ā
Tears swelled within her eyes and her fingers kept grasping around her jawline clenching her skin as her lips quivered as pained gasps were muffled one by one.Ā
āWhat are you doing Sareāwen?ā The young man asked as she ripped the conscripts from his hands.Ā
āYouāre not actually thinking of enlisting are you?ā She asked reading over the first few lines.Ā āThe Sunguard, under command of house Truefeather.ā Her brows creased for a moment,Ā āMiran you canāt, your health...ā
āMy health doesnāt matter but our people do, these people, our townspeople... We just watched our friends bury their family, I canāt stand by and watch more caskets come home, or the cries of the widows or orphans left in its wake.āĀ
āThen donāt.ā Sareāwen said her tone filling with a heated anger,Ā āThink of your own children Miran, theyāve already lost a mother, they could never bare to lose their father as well. Your old injuries...ā She shook off the images that came into her head,Ā āYouād die.ā
āSo what if I do Sareāwen?!ā His voice raised as he reached back for the sheets of paper that were in her hand.Ā āIf I die I do so protecting our people, our village, my children... You.ā
Her featureās softened as his last word was nearly whispered out between them.Ā āMiran...ā She breathed back the word dragged on as silence hung between them both.Ā
āIf protecting those I love means to be their shield, to take their blow, to haltĀ their death in wake of my own, then that is a life fulfilled Sareāwen.āĀ
Sareāwen just stared at Vaāmiran for several minutes before walking away from him. It wasnāt until she was several hundred feet away that she paused near a tree stretching out her arm to hold herself steady. What were all their sacrifices for if they were if he would so easily throw them all away.
Miran looked out to the setting sun, dinner had gone cold on the table and still she did not return. A heavy sigh escaped his lips before turning to his two girls who were laughing and playing down the hall. Their voices, their happiness was motivation enough for him to make his decision... His sacrifice. Sitting at the table where the papers and a quill awaited him, he began to fill out the documentation to enlist into the Sunguard.Ā
It was the middle of the night when Sareāwen returned home, the house was quiet and there was a peaceful stillness within the walls. The candles were now dimly lit ready to snuff out as the end of their wick grew close. The soles of her feet were swollen from the hours upon hours of endless walking. Pulling the leather boots from her feet she pinched at her heels in some hope it would offer relief.Ā
Walking towards the kitchen she saw the papers left on the table next to a candle and a quill. The only part filled out was the name, his name. A pained lurch grasped and pulled at her stomach. Quickly she looked through the pages and the rest was left blank.Ā āThereās still time...ā She thought to herself.
Ripping a small blank piece from the parchment she quickly scrawledĀ a message leaving it on the table in place of the application.Ā
There was a warm sting felt on the eyes in the morning, as the sun forced them to pry open. Vaāmiran slowly rubbed them awake as he pulled the blanket off and got up. Walking to the water basin he splashed cool water on his face drying it with a towel. Reaching for his white shirt he placed it on before heading downstairs in just a pair of pants that cut off halfway down his calf and loose white top.Ā
As he reached the kitchen he saw the papers missing and headed straight for Sareāwenās room.Ā āAreāwen!ā He called out to her finding her room bare and trunks emptied.Ā āSare?!ā He called out as he ran out the door but her horse already gone.
Going back inside his gaze was pulled to the small piece of parchment left behind.Ā āYou have sacrificed so much for me already, in the past you were my shield and today I will be yours. By the time you read this, I will already have sworn the oath. Give the girls each a kiss from me, and tell them of my love I hold for each of them. I carry you all within my heart as I make this journey. Pray for me, as I will all of you.ā
A hand reached for Sareāwenās as the burning ash stung at her eyes.Ā āI left in hopes of saving them Miran... I was to be their shield, their sacrifice... Instead.āĀ
He pulled her into his chest, her small frame easily fitting within his arms,Ā āShhhh Sareāwen, you gave them all you could. For every life lost here elsewhere there are others saved.ā
āIs that supposed to make this easier Miran? Our family, our community... Our home, theyāre...ā She sucked in a sharp breath.Ā āI should have defied my orders, I should have come back here like my heart begged me to do I should have-.ā
āEnough!ā His voice was as sharp as a blade silencing her words,Ā āYou did what you had to do as a soldier. Be proud of that, this is not your fault, this isnāt anyoneās fault. You did what you had too, do not place blame on yourself. It does no one any good.ā
āYouāre right...ā She whispered onto his chest, the beat of his heart steadying her in wake of the death that surrounded them.
āWe still have to see to the village, there could be hope.ā
Seeking permission from her commander to depart for the Summerglen in a blind hope to protect her home and the people within Sareāwen looked onto the Archon awaiting his decision.
Telchis looked to Sare'wen. "No, you will be deployed as I see fit. I cannot afford to divide my forces any more than we already have."
Sare'wen's eyes flashed a brilliant crimson hue for a second before receding. Gritting her teeth the young priestess nodded silently "Understood. Sir." Her features cooled as she stared forward avoiding to meet anyoneās gaze, her fingers grip tightening around the hilt of her blade.
The Archonās voice carried over the army as orders were issued out to his commanders.
"Ranger-Captain Firstorm! Move your forces to Oakvale and secure the Engine of the Dreamwarden. If it falls then all is lost in the Oakvale forever. Knight-Commander Emberstar! Move to the Dreaming Gardens of Evergrove! Find Lady Evelynne and secure his people back to the Dawnspire! My army will move to Sundial Anchorage too free the port. Once doing so we can have allies sail to our shores. I mean to call in our debts abroad."
A crisp salute was offered onto the officers as a show of respect while the soldiers were dismissed from the meeting. The news of the attacks on the Spireās home front left a lurch hanging within the bottom of the girlās stomach, bile, and acid swirling about threatening to escape at any given time. Where the other two deployments left excitement and uncertainty within the heart of the young priestess this news left heartache, and sorrow.
What would become of her home, of her family? Family!
Sareāwenās daughter wrote to her weeks ago arranging to meet her at their home in-between deployment, but upon their arrival war was already on their doorstep.Ā
The beat of her heart raced faster and faster with every passing second, she could not deflect from her duty, she took an oath for the sake of another and now that other will have to pay it back in full. Their daughterās life was at risk and her fate unknown. The magical connection she shared with her broken just months previous by her grandfather, and now her life hung in the balance, and the young girl would be truly alone during their darkest hour.
The stone staircase seemed to carry on and on, as if an unending maze that would never end. Sareāwen couldnāt feel anything in that moment, her legs moved faster than the girl thought possible as her muscles ached from the strain, still she pushed forward.
Bursting through the door the woman panted heavily as she sucked in sharp breaths that felt like sharp blades cutting down her throat. Grasping onto a sealed parchment she slammed it down on the table leaning heavily against it. āI donāt care how much extra it will cost, but this letter needs to be delivered to the Crescent Hills immediately, my daughterās life is dependent on it.ā All the coin she possessed was placed beside the letter on the table in a small leather bag. Emerald eyes scanned the room pleading to all within for someone to take up her commission. Slowly a man from the back stepped forward pocketing her coin and the letter. āIāll over see this.ā He said to his superior before offering a single nod towards the young lady.
Relief swept over Sareāwen for a second, and the girl could feel her legs tremble beneath the weight of the recent news. Every piece of her wanted to buckle down as tears threatened to burst from her eyes. āYou are Indaris, and an Indaris never breaks.ā She told herself in a silent affirmation.
āThank you.ā She said forcing her body to stand on its own stepping away from the table. Her gaze caught the letter once more before she departed for duty. That carrier was her only hope in that moment for her daughterās survival. Cyvar may have taken Vaāmiran away from her, but he could not deny her this very plead. āAnarāalah anaria ama.ā She whispered in a silent prayer.
Ā āCyvar,
Ā Your grandchild returned to the Glen and a legion invasion is on the doorstep of the Spire. I order you to release Vaāmiran from whatever hold and threat you have kept him under in the Crescent Hills. His daughter needs him now, her life is dependent on it. Should you disobey I will ensure to allow Aurelian to overreach as he is known for in battle and allow him to die instead of saving him as I have continuously done in the past. A child for a child, the choice is yours.
@felthier @korkrunchcereal @dorksworn @forever-afk for character mentions!
This is a piece from the Legion campaign when the attack on the Spire was announced. The orders from this were taken from the D20 with @felthierā ās permission! Iām behind on my writing so this happened several weeks ago.Ā
Sareāwenās home for the last several years was in a hidden gem called the Summerglen, where the sunās light offers a homely warmth to all those that bask in its cleansing rays
Running a business on one half and her private housing the other half of the property was the families residence. This place was not just her home but her livelihood.Ā
Farming the land she would use those goods to produce products to sell in her shop. At the back was a small infirmary for any who wished to be treated by a Shadow Mender in private. Then in the back was a kitchen where food, baked goods, and desserts with drinks were served in the outdoor cafe.
The news of its loss has not reached the young priestess yet, last heard there was an attack was looming and her adopted daughter was back in their family home awaiting her return.Ā
Since the last battle Sareāwen has not left the bedside of her brother unless to attend to her scheduled duties as a Dawnmender in the Sunguard. During her off hours she has found little sleep as the stresses from her own actions once he fell haunt her.Ā
The political game she was playing in felt like a thick rope wrapped around her neck, and someone was pulling it tight suffocating her.Ā

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh it looks so lovely!!! Thank you so so much! I am over the moon about this! I am so excited about this piece!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
47. What is your most expensive piece of clothing?
āClothing? I ⦠Oh⦠Well Lord Indaris recently had a dress made for me so I could attend his ball⦠Naturally I took it away afterwards and altered it to appear a little less snobbish if that makes sense? I mean who puts jewels in fabric, you should see all the ones I found on the floor that night!Ā Gosh what an event that was, I had nearly every lord in the lands thrust their sons on me to dance, each one of course was dismissed just as quickly. So I guess that piece would be the most expensive, then I have my armor which is very lovely.Ā
I found it on a dead enemy and it seemed like a waste to let it burn so I took it off them.. Which is hard, three hundred pounds of literal dead weight! Anyways Iāve collected a few over the years and made what Iām wearing today⦠Armor is expensive, and good armor is just out of my price range so I have to repurpose what I do. Most of what I have is either a gift or a hand me down so I guess those two pieces are the most notable.ā
39. Do you have any scars?
Sareāwen giggled bringing a hand to her painted lips,Ā āDoesnāt everyone? Anyone who says they donāt have a scar is lying or magically altered themselves somehow.ā Her Emerald gaze shifted towards Aurelian for a moment as she sat around a fire in the encampment with those fighting under her banner.Ā āI used to have several ones from when I learned how to cook, but those faded away to nothing over the years. I have one on my inner thigh from a riding accident, and several on the bottom of my feet from another. I couldnāt walk for two weeks when that one happened! I have some more smaller not really notableĀ ones⦠But those are my big ones.ā
2. How old are you?
Bright emerald eyes blinked several times towards the question, it wasnāt something asked so blatantly nor expected from a stranger.Ā āNearing my sixth century.ā she said proudly raising her chin ever so slightly.Ā
The man just stared at her, she appeared to be several centuries younger and her age did not match such a refined beauty.Ā āItās not polite to lie miss.ā he said firmly waiving his hand dismissively.Ā
By the time breakfast is served Sareāwen has already been up for several hours tending to house and garden. Water for the day's chores brought in from the well, Laundry would have been cleaned and hanging, the garden watered and tended, eggs from the chicken coup collected for the day'sĀ meals, animals on the farm fed, the house chores completed and breakfast cooked for the household, and lunches packed for the day.Ā Ā
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day within Sareāwenās household as well as the largest. Each serving is carefully proportioned to be eaten over an hour over tea or the rare occasionĀ of coffee for the adults and a glass of milk for the children.Ā
What a typical breakfast serving within her household looks like; One quarter cup of berries, one half cup of citrusĀ fruits, a single thin slice of lean meat, half a cup of oats, a single slice of nut loaf, and half a hard boiled egg.Ā
Under each individual plate of food is an elegantly penned letter including the daily tasks needing to be completed for the day by each family member, with the specific timeframes that they need to be completed within.Ā
Taking an hour to enjoy each otherāsĀ company before parting ways until dinner it is one of the most important momentās of Sareāwenās day.Ā

Sareāwen placed down her teacup small hands frantically waiving towards the woman who sat across from her,Ā āNever!ā She shrieked leaning back into her seat melting into the plush cushions. A fierce warmth blossomed over her pale cheeks to the tip of her ears. Never having been asked that questions the younger woman had no idea how to react, were people commonly involved with the law?Ā
The elder woman who sat across from her held her cool composure for a minute as a still silence hung in the air before the corner of her painted lips cracked into a small smirk.Ā āDo you always make such a spectacle out of a conversation or is that just something youāve come by in your childhood?āĀ
Never had Sareāwen felt so small,Ā āWell⦠Iā¦ā As her emerald eyes grew wet she looked up at her governess searching for answers. Elegant long eyelashes fluttered open,Ā āDoes your husband know that you are seeing the librarian here at the house?ā
The governessā eyes shot open and the cocky smirk that laced her lips previously disappeared as her mouth hung open ajarĀ āI beg your pardon?ā
Sareāwen smiled thoughtfully,Ā āIām glad he makes you happy.ā She said her little legs kicking in the air before hopping down from the chair.Ā āDonāt worry⦠You wonāt have to resign, it can be our secret.āĀ
Emerald eyes fluttered open as Sareāwen looked down at the blank parchment in front of her. It had been centuries since she was that little girl in the room and her guardianās soon learned what she was capable of. It was nearing their tenth year apart and soon they would close that gap and meet for Winterās Veil. So many questions she had for them about her youth and how they handled her abilities.Ā
Dipping her quill into the blue inkwell she pressed the tip to the edge before placing it to parchment.Ā āDearest Guardianāsā¦ā
35. Have you ever tried archery?
Long slender fingers ran over the leather bind in the center of the bow.Ā āI have, I hunt.ā She said dismissively barely paying attention to the clerk who was watching over her carefully. The hand crafted piece was simple but beautiful, the ashen wood was soft with red leather binds around the center.Ā āHow much?āĀ It was simple with no defining notes but to her it was everything she dreamed of until the price came back.Ā āFifteen pieces of gold.ā he said with a stern tone.
A pained lurch hit her stomach, that was most of what she had for the month and that was meant to go towards a book she had been eyeing in the shop window for months.Ā āFifteen?ā She asked as her tone nearly squeaked.Ā
āThe bow was ten when I came here the other day but it is only worth eight including inflation.ā Sareāwen said, the Emerald hue of her eyes dissipating into an Amethyst glow,Ā āSince eight was the price you offered to the man who was interested in it earlier today. I will take it for what you offered him and nothing more.ā
The man stood there with his mouth hanging ajar, there were no words that could escape. How could she possibly know⦠He was trying to impress his master since he was new but he chose the wrong woman to do that with it seemed.Ā āEight is a fair offer.ā Was all he could say through gritted teeth.Ā āLet me package this for you.ā
99. Color of your bedspread?
Sareāwen stared at Vaāmiran who held her sheets in his hands,Ā āIf weāre to blend in we should replace these colours. They may believe we are still loyal to the prince.ā
Rolling her eyes Sareāwen snatched the pale blue fabric from his hands.Ā āTheyāre just sheets Miran, that would be like looking at a womanās undergarments and believe she is loyal because of some blue lace.ā
Now it was his turn to roll his eyes,Ā āYouāre not taking this seriously Areāwen.āĀ
āItās sheets! How can I take this seriously. This is perfectly good material and I will not see it wasted because itās not in that awful red everyone wears to try and make a point. If we allow others to rule us because of a colour then what did we fight for? The sheets stay.ā She said firmly marching away from Vaāmiran and into her room.
She was right and he knew it,Ā āAreāwenā¦ā he said softly walking after her.
āI know why youāre saying this, but itās ridiculous. If they want to question our allegiances then let them come and we will reassure them. The colours of our clothing, the upholstery of our furniture, and the colours of our sheets should not matter. While others like to spend in excess I rather we save that money for your childrenās future education.ā
Rough fingers caressed her smooth cheek,Ā āI know, I justā¦ā Emerald eyes drank in his own that were laced with worry. Then there it was the lurch of pain that came when guilt filled her.Ā āIā¦. I knowā¦ā She whispered out to him and they stood there for minutes in silence looking into each otherās eyes. Sareāwen didnāt need to read his mind to know what he was thinking. They knew each otherās thoughts from a mere glance at the other.Ā āHeās not going to find us because of the colour of our sheetās.ā She whispered out finally breaking the silence.Ā
Leaning their heads together for a moment he pulled away taking the sheets from her hands.Ā āIāll help you make the bed.ā he replied with a soft smile over his lips.Ā āItās a beautiful blue, reminds me of the necklace you wear of your mothers.ā
Sareāwen felt the ire that took hold of her minutes ago wash away.Ā āIt was her favourite colour.ā she said softly taking a corner of the sheets.Ā

Sareāwen is in her fifth century of life, nearing the sixth. While she is highly intellectual as an individual, she lacks the social skills one her age should possess. Ā
2. Did she have a happy childhood?Ā
Sareāwen had a happy childhood, she grew up as the ward to one of the lesser nobles in house Indaris. They loved her as if she were their own and took an extra care for her wellbeing in memory of her mother. Being destined for great things, soon she was making a name for herself and becoming noticed by the higher hierarchy of nobles within the realm.
Soon she was to be wed to a man she believed to have loved at that time, however everything changed when a knight from her past came before the wedding with a letter from her mother and the truth of her heritage. Doubting everything she had grown up to know she used her mind bending abilities to search the thoughts of her betrothed hoping to find honesty within him, instead she learned he only wanted her inheritance to save his family, and was already in love with another noble.
He plotted to kill Sareāwen once enough years had passed where no one would suspect him, and to run off with the one he truly wished to spend his life with. Sareāwen told her wards his plans, and the wedding was called off, sending her away for her own safety now that she knew the truth.
3. Past/ present relationships?Ā How did they affect her?
Sareāwen had a meaningful relationship with the family who raised her, they treated her as if she were their own, and their children always regarded her as a sister. One of the hardest turning points in her life was having to leave them for their own protection once she found out who she was.
With the lingering whispers and scandal of her marriage being called off they all felt it was best she left the Crescent Hills for her own protection, and their own. The decision was made by Sareāwen, to leave with Cyvar and only keep in touch through a third party who would exchange their letters. On the anniversary of their separation every tenth year they both take a trip for three weeks to see one another.
Moving away from the life she knew left Sareāwen an empty shell, she had no idea who she was and suffered an identity crisis. While growing up she had so many questions on who her parentage was in hopes for an explanation for her abilities with the void. There was a time of rebuilding, reflection, and growing that continues today for the young priestess. Ā
Cyvar brought her to a small cottage on a secluded plot of land three realms over from the Crescent Hills where his son Vaāmiran was entrusted with the duty to look after and care for the woman.
Each of these relationships have helped her define herself as a person, her motives, actions, and beliefs while growing up.Ā Ā
4. What/who does she care about?
Sareāwen is a very passionate person when it comes to her beliefs. Right now she worries for the people in the Crescent Hills. These people are supposed to be her charges and responsibility and she knows there is a division in the lands that her brother is blind too. With division comes disloyalty, if they can turn on their sovereign, then they could easily turn on their people as well. How many of them might serve the legion?
She cares and worries for the soldiers under her care while working under the Sunguardās banner. Their health and wellbeing are her top priority since bending the knee and swearing the oath. She places this above everything else, their missions and orders supersede that of the Crescent Hills.
Vaāmiran and his two daughters are held very close to her heart. His children are like her own since she helped raise them, and though she would never allow herself to admit it aloud there is a deep care and love towards Vaāmiran. Though she knows they could never be together, their friendship means everything to the young priestess, and she will cherish always.
Aurelian is another care she will never admit too outloud but he is her brother and some of the only blood relatives she has left living. Never having belonged to a blood related family before there is an unending curiosity towards him. More than anything she wants them to become friends, so that when the day comes and he realizes who she is there will not be bloodshed, but forgiveness on both sides. In a youthful hope, she prays he will welcome her into his family.
They both suffered at the hands of their father, and through no fault of his own he was made in the image of that man. Praying that with friendship, trust, and care she can help shape him into the man he wishes to become and step out from the shadows heās spent his life living. Ā
Ithanar is one of the first Sareāwen met within the Sunguard after she took her oath and bent a knee. When she was lost and searching for a home he helped her feel at ease within the large city. The entire process was overwhelming to her but having someone there who was kind, considerate, and patient with her youthful excitement as it took over when discovering Silvermoon for the first time is something she will never forget. She hopes one day they will become friends, but due to her past she is reluctant to allow anyone in.
Sareāwen is an advocate for higher education for the poor, helping create outreach programs where they can gain an education through coresponsence since many children are kept at home to help with duties and work at home.
Rehabilitation for soldiers of war who were injured both mentally and physically in war or on duty. By helping them get into programs to help rehabilitate and heal, discover new passions, and help them gain an education or get an apprenticeship to do with the new career path if they cannot return to duty.
Bringing medical treatment to those within smaller outlying villages who cannot easily access medicine, or medical aide. She believes it isnāt just up to the Patriarch house to oversee their wellbeing but Quelāthalas as well. She works with patriarch houses and the spire to help bring medical aide to those incapable of accessing it themselves.
5. What is she obsessed with?
Knowledge, Sareāwen can always be found with a book on her persons. She loves reading, learning, going for lectures up in the spire, and purchasing manuscripts taking in the opinions of others and having a healthy discussion over them. To live is to learn in her opinion, and if you are not learning, then you are not truly living.
While she may seem like a youthful girl who is just a mirth of joy, the truth is she is highly intelligent with multiple degreeās in varying fields. Her entire life has been dedicated to learning about the unknown, where others find a discomfort in a challenge if danger could be a part of it, she is one of the first to race in if there is the smallest chance she could discover something that has not been discovered yet.
Helping those who are incapable of helping themselves. Sareāwen wants to give people who do not have a voice a chance to regain it through their own actions and decisions.
Ā 6. Biggest fear?
There are two instances within Sareāwenās life where she lost herself in her anger losing control of the shadows and void she manipulates. In those moments she is no longer herself but becomes a creature of the void. Unstoppable, and unforgiving against those who took actions against her persons, she is wrathful in her vengeance.
The second was when her father sent his armies to search for her killing any who could have helped support or house her. They found Vaāmiran in a small village on the outskirts of one of the realms that were not governed by the Indaris family. The soldiers were ordered to salt the fields, burn down the homes, and kill everyone within. Hang troll banners, use troll weapons, to make it look like an attack.
Sareāwen was given the gift of sight since her birth and in a vision she saw the attack three days before it happened. Living far away from Vaāmiran at this point in her life she traveled the three days to try and warn him and the village she spent over three centuries living within. When she arrived the siege had already begun, those she had grown to know and love lay dead in the town square, or in their homes. Mothers, fathers, children, all of them slaughtered and left for dead.
Making her way to Vaāmiranās home where she found his wife cut open and dead at the doorway. Her nails scratching at the wooden frame trying to block the soldierās entry into the house to protect her children. A seven year old girl and a small babe that was not even a year old. Searching the house for the children who were nowhere in sight, until hearing Vaāmiranās cries of pain out back.
The soldierās had a 9 tail whip with sharp hooked ends meant to latch into the flesh stripping it from his back with every lash and pull. There was nothing left of Vaāmiranās back, they had whipped it down to the muscle and bone.
His children were being held at knife point as they demanded to know where Sareāwenās was. Seeing those she loved beyond that of herself she felt her control over the whispers and void slipping away quickly.
Sareāwen gave into the whispers she spent her life fighting against once more. The void had consumed her and soon so did the shadows. Her body became engulfed with them, and her once emerald eyes turned into a bright crimson glow. The first thing Sareāwen did was tell the children to sleep, and within seconds they did. It was for their own protection to not see what would happen next.
Saving the children from seeing the horrors that were about to transpire was the last memory she had of the events that happened next. When she woke up her hand was grasping Vaāmiranās whose body lay helpless on the ground. On the outskirts of the village walls, each of the Indaris soldierās were placed on pikes with the Indaris banners standing between each of them. Over twenty men brutally killed and drawn up as a warning to Sareāwenās enemies.
Her biggest fear is losing herself to the void again and not being able to control what happens when she is within that state. She has murdered people, and if you murder once, it is easy to murder again. No matter the justification for her actions, they can never excuse the horror she created that day.
7. What is the best thing that ever happened to her?Ā The worst?
The best thing that has ever happened to Sareāwen was learning the truth about who she is and the family she belongs too. It has paved the way for much of her lifeās decisions.
Swearing an oath to the Sunguard; it took a lot of courage to join the Sunguard, and bend a knee. She has been taught most of her life to never bend to others, but the Sunguard isnāt another, it is an army sworn to protect the people of Quelāthalas, which is greater than any other cause she is a part of. It has taken her from a life of seclusion and thrust her into learning many firsts that you can only learn firsthand, and not in the thousands of books sheās read.
One of the biggest lessons sheās learned is it doesnāt matter what people think of her because it isnāt their thoughts on who she is that defines her but how she performs with concerns to her duty. So if someone doesnāt like her or tries to bait her all she will do is smile at them, and not acknowledge poor behavior. She doesnāt believe petty actions or reactions hold any purpose but to degrade yourself for no purpose but to lower yourself to their level.
The worst would be what happened in question 6.
Ā 8. Most embarrassing thing that ever happened to her?
Outwardly:
Believing she was in love with a man who only cared for another and plotted to kill her for her money once the right amount of time had passed so no one would suspect him.
Inwardly:
Allowing the nobles of the Crescent Hills who support her familyās cause against house Indaris to treat her as their puppet for their own purpose. She is embarrassed that she allowed herself to be used as their pawn, and has been working towards taking control back from them by plotting against house Indaris, and the nobles who support her in a massive game of chess. Instead of a pawn, she wants to become the queen. Ā
9. Biggest secret?
Sareāwenās biggest secret is that she is the daughter of the late Patriarch to house Indaris and the true heir to the Crescent Hills. With sufficient documents and support to stage a coup the nobles who have turned their back on their current leader are helping start an up rise against Aurelian so that she can take his place as the rightful head of house.
10. What are some words you would use to define her?
