Here’s the thing. I have always hated the concept of mate bonds. Which is wild considering I love soulmate AU fanfiction. But it is what it is. And I did still find some aspects of it weird and uncomfortable while reading this.

BUT. I always trust Ali Hazelwood will deliver me a book I will enjoy and she definitely did.

I loved Serena and her story so much. Her figuring herself out, being absolutely infuriatingly secretive, her being an absolute badass??? I loved it all. She was utterly wonderful.

Koen was hard not to like which is saying something given how much the whole “touch her and die” trope makes me roll my eyes. But underneath his irritatingly gruff exterior, he’s an actual puppy dog? I do love a man who’s a total simp for the woman he loves.
