this is another post in my saga to repost a bunch of my old amino art
this is a set of custom abilities of mine that i only drew once during the years of 2019 to 2021 (these aren't the only such abilities but i'm trying to keep the posts reasonably short okay). with one exception, these were all from 2019.
cannon is a copy ability that i actually made in 2019, so this art is actually the only art i've ever made of cannon. i should make another drawing of it...
cannon's whole deal is that you can control how hard you fire the cannonballs (and with some degree of freedom for the angle). pretty straightforward... or parabolic, i guess.
cosmic is... also a copy ability i made in 2019, with this art also being the only drawing i've actually made of cosmic. this isn't a trend for this post. cosmic is a limited-use ability similar to mike, where you can summon five black holes to destroy enemies. they work like magolor's in kirby star allies, to be clear.
okay so desert is a deprecated copy ability of mine. i don't maintain it anymore and i'm not gonna draw it again. it's only here to prove that i made this design. anyway sand is a great ability mecha WISHES it was as good as sand
hey. hey so you know super abilities. okay so there's evidence in the form of an unused texture that spark was supposed to get a super ability form. so i made my interpretation of it: hyper volt! the art i made of hyper volt in 2018 is lost to time, but i redrew it in 2019 so it's not gone forever! anyway i dunno what it would do lol
knife is a copy ability i made in 2021, so this... is ALSO the only drawing i've made of knife... kinda. i was making knife concurrently with a guide i was making called "how to copy ability" (which i'm planning on reviving somewhere, probably youtube), so there is technically other art of knife but just in the form of concept art that i'm keeping to myself for now (maybe if there's demand i'll release it). it was also during a community event where kirby amino and omori amino were "fighting" each other by posting, and kirby amino posts did better if they were related to omori, which is why this copy ability was specifically knife (because i know just about nothing about omori and have no intention of changing that right now)
knight is a copy ability i made in 2018, with its old art being lost to time. however, this art from 2019 survives. i based knight kirby mostly off of galacta knight, since sword kirby and meta knight are very similar to each other (and there's no good copy ability equivalent for galacta). knight doesn't really play like galacta knight would, though, since it has like a move where you use the lance as a pogo stick or the shield as a snowboard since kirby movement is cool actually

we're taking a bit of a detour from copy abilities so i can talk about some custom enemies i've made! the first image is from 2019, and the other two are from 2021.
the first enemy is named bushel. the original ideal is that it would work like bukiset from kirby's dream land 3, where what ability it gives would be determined by what it's doing at that moment (either leaf, needle, or gardener, the latter of which is a custom ability of mine). in hindsight i'd just make it give gardener
i made two pieces of bushel that i have restored: one from 2019 and one from 2021. the 2019 one accompanied art of kirby with the gardener ability as a surprise, since i had made art of bushel all the way back in 2018 and was doing a redraw thing for my copy abilities. the 2021 redraw was just because i felt like it
as for the second enemy, it's named mini matter, and would give the darkness ability, another custom ability of mine. i don't remember much else about it! sorry to disappoint. its resemblance to dark matter is intentional though, since it is supposed to be related to dark matter.
this is a post in my saga of documenting and reposting a bunch of my art that i've saved from amino shutting down.
i've done a lot of art relating to old, forgotten copy abilities from the kirby series, mostly so i can take a crack at revitalizing them. this isn't all of them; there's art of burning, bubble, and freeze kirby that i won't be reposting here (for my own reasoning that makes sense to me) and i've done multiple pieces of art for a couple other abilities that will get their own posts separate from this one.
i did the art for backdrop kirby in 2021. suplex is my favorite copy ability, and backdrop being so similar to it means i take a special interest in tweaking it to work better. if i remember correctly, i made my revision of backdrop be based more on movement while performing throws, in a sorta flashy way? i think? i have the moveset written down (i actually did think to archive that ahead of time) but not the descriptions or reasoning so .-.
the art i did for ball kirby is from 2019. ball is such a weird ability, man, like it's so hard to control and then suddenly you start defeating bosses in like 5 seconds, shit's insane. my remake for ball was mostly giving it more convenient ways to move so that you can deal with normal enemies easier without sacrificing the ability to flatten bosses
baton's art is also from 2019. this is originally from the anime so i had a lot of room for creative interpretation for it. i interpreted it has having command grabs that are summoned from the baton itself, rather than going a similar route to staff from the main series
ah, metal. this art is from 2021. predictably, i made it so metal can change out of metal form. this also meant giving it a hat, which i remember giving me a TON of trouble. i was struggling to come up with designs for it for a long time, and that's why it took me until 2021 to actually try tackling it. i remember seeing someone else's interpretation of a metal ability hat that had like liquid metal at the top that looked super cool but i didn't want to rip that off so i made something original to me (and i'm glad i did because i like the design i came up with! it could be better but it's also nearly 4 years old so)
i also had trouble coming up with a design for mini, but eventually came up with the above design in 2021 as well. my vision for mini as a copy ability took the form of using shockwaves from changing size to deal damage to enemies, and specifically having all the same inputs while big or small to make the transitions seamless
i don't have much to say about paint aside from the art being from 2021. i made a post on kirby amino going over how limited-use abilities are generally really boring and same-y and yeah, paint fits that. i did recognize that forgotten land made a step in the right direction with time crash and deep sleep, because it absolutely did. those evolved abilities add a lot more depth to limited-use abilities as a whole
wrapping up this post is top kirby; this art is also from 2021. fun fact, it was supposed to have shading but i forgot and then just ran with it. i would continue shading my art for a while after this but i've gone back on it now in the present since i like the simplicity of flat colors sometimes (and neurospicy brain wants the art done now, damnit!)
so apparently amino ceased all functionality last december, which ordinarily i'd have no issues with but.
well i used kirby amino a lot as a teenager, and posted a lot of art there.

i was able to recover a lot of it by virtue of it having stayed around in my camera roll all these years but some of it is lost to time forever.
but.
not all of it has been lost to time so i'm gonna post what i do have (mostly because i've had to deal with some art theft in the past and like hell am i gonna let documentation die)
so sorry if i suddenly start flooding your pages! this is the first one where i'm showing off art (also keep in mind that this is old art and i won't be doing it in chronological order but ordered by relevance)
okay first up is the art i've done for my original athlete copy ability! i made one drawing in 2019 and the other two in 2021.
this will be a running theme through these archival posts when it comes to my original copy abilities: there was also a piece from 2018 that has been lost to time. (unfortunately none of my 2018 kirby amino art has survived, unless someone has been archiving it all secretly behind my back.)
the 2019 drawing was part of an effort on my part to redraw every copy ability i had made up until that point (so fortunately all of my original copy abilities have art that has survived), as i was running a competition on designing copy abilities at the time. it wasn't a very popular competition. i got three submissions and didn't even see one of them lmao ;w;
the first 2021 drawing i did was just a simple redraw for the sake of it (why not), while the second 2021 drawing i did was something i did while bored at a trivia event. i'm still incredibly proud of that pencil drawing, by the way; hard to believe it was the product of just sitting around not doing anything else!

This took about 4 days of on-and-off work in both Inkscape and Blender to create! I had an especially fun time making a bunch of the billboards seen in the background, as I could hide silly little easter eggs in them (such as the billboard in the top left, referencing Mollo!). Also Loxodont's tower was a bit annoying to model. Someone with more experience modelling might not have that much issue with it but for someone like me who's still not fully confident it was a lot! Same goes for Loxodont's hovering drone things, but I was able to get away with not giving them as much detail since they're so small and far away (even if they're emitting light).
I took a few screenshots early in the process to show my friends, but I stopped after finishing Loxodont's tower since I didn't want to spoil the framing of the final render. But if you like seeing behind-the-scenes stuff, this is for you!
The "Sexydont" sign is a real part of Neo Fire Capital in Rivals of Aether and it can and will hurt you. I had to find out that it exists and now I have to inflict that knowledge on everyone else as well

after mario kart world released i had the primal urge to catalog every race track and battle arena in the entire mario kart series (something i've done before but am doing again now because new game)
turns out, the number of named race tracks and battle arenas in the entire mario kart series (spin-offs included) comes out to 324, which seems arbitrary, but is actually a square number (18 squared). since this type of occurrence is so rare, i decided to commemorate it...
...with a giant square image with all of the race tracks and battle courses in it, in alphabetical order.
mario kart's been a pretty big part of my life for a long time, so it seems only fair that i make something like this to celebrate how far the series has come. happy karting!
