Baby bullsquids are much faster than adults and hunt small prey. They recognize their mothers via pheromones and will return to her to rest under her protection. They’re also sometimes called “bullchicks.” Their acid is much more potent as babies and they’re prone to drooling. Spitting is a defense mechanism, and they won’t spit unless threatened. Baby bullsquids also have much more prominent patterns in order to hide from predators.
Holding them like a burger is ill-advised. They are slippery and ill-mannered.
