Temple of the Sun. Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico.

This view across the lake in St James’s Park always makes me think of one of those mad monarchs living in a Bavarian fairytale castle. The Disneyland-like turrets at the back are from Horse Guards Parade and the Royal Horseguards hotel. Everyone raves about the famous shot of Buckingham Palace from the central bridge in the lake saying you must take that, don’t forget to take that!, but for my money it’s when you spin around 180 degrees that you get the real best shot.

Happy 926th Birthday to my favourite building.
