Ikra

The treacherous being who calling themselves Ikra claimed to be the daughter of a great king who had been conquered and imprisoned by the dread lord Aku.  After meeting Samurai Jack, Ikra stated that she was in search of a magical jewel in the desert, a jewel powerful enough to free her father and possibly defeat Aku.  

Jack accompanied Ikra on her journey to find this gem.  They shared many adventures together and Jack greatly enjoyed her company (believing that he had found a kindred soul in this strange realm he had become marooned in).  

When the pair finally discovered the jewel, Ikra tried to grasp it with her hand.  Yet she failed the jewel’s test of purity and just then it was revealed that Ikira was actually Aku in disguise.  Aku had merely made up Ikra’s tragic backstory and used his powers to take on her form. 

Aku had a premonition of the jewel, fearing it’s magic could undo his spell and send Jack home and knew he had to destroy it. Believing that Jack would do whatever he could to find the jewel, he used the guise of Ikra to manipulate Jack into leading him to it.

Heartbroken and enraged over being deceived, Jack lunged at Aku with his blade, but the demon transforms into a bird and flew away taking the jewel with him.  The whole affair leaves Jack feeling more alone than ever before.  Yet it also intensifies his resolve to destroy the evil of Aku.
