I don't just mean the "book" that is being referred to here, I mean what is the source for this piece of text, which, judging by the use of "mochi" was probably translated from Japanese. Where was this ancient folklore recorded to now be popping on the internet?

also why would the presence of the word "mochi" indicate this snippet of text was translated from japanese? "mochi" is the english word for mochi. because it comes from japan, so we just borrowed the japanese word. why would using the word "mochi" indicate a text was translated from japanese anymore than using the word "sauerkraut" indicate it was translated from german?
