   Anyway, Lydia said the Kanima doesn’t seek a friend like we all thought; he seeks a master. Meaning someone isn’t protecting him. They were controlling him. The Kanima does go after murderers, but it’s more like a vendetta thing from the master.

   It was a good thing I did because Stiles and I froze at the sound of rustling. There was a human heartbeat near. Stiles turned and screamed, backing up into me. It was Allison.

   “Stiles, watch out!” I screamed, and he stomped on the brakes right before we drove over spike strip. Also, in front of us was a fence.

   “What do we do now?” Stiles asked. Scott and I crawled out. We jumped over the fence and started running to help save/catch the Kanima before Derek killed Jackson. I was still hurt because of what Stiles said not two hours prior, but I was good at masking my feelings. I’ve been doing it since I was 13.

   “Meeting us here, I think,” Stiles replied. “I hope.” Stiles locked every lock that was on the front door, making Lydia frown at him. “Uh, there’s been a few break-ins around the neighborhood.” Lydia nodded trustingly. Nobody knew what to say, so the silence stretched to the point of awkwardness.
