Favorite thing: Some of my favorite moments from Hau are the parts where his frustrations about constantly losing show through his happy facade. That part in SuMo where he’s gutted about letting Lillie get taken? “It's hard to be strong enough to admit that you're weak… you know?” Bye.

Also I was a kid who loved the thought of having traveling companions like Ash did in the anime, and after my first two Pokémon games (HeartGold and X) where your designated friends just get kinda sidelined deep into the plot, when Hau was a more frequently occurring character and had an actual fun dynamic with the player that was the closest I got to feeling that from a Pokémon game for the first time.

Least favorite thing: Idk in the OG SuMo plot I wish he was involved during the climax on Poni Island along with Gladion idk I’m a big fan of when the whole group joins up for the big finale. Which doesn’t actually. Happen that often in Pokémon games but yknow.

Favorite line: "These ankle biters are starting to grow on me. I think I might hang out for a while. It's kinda soothing, you know?"

Really funny line about a Yungoose chewing on his leg I think.

"Seriously! This is really frustrating, you know? I seriously tried my hardest, you know?”

brOTP: Protag, Al (OC), Lillie, I like to think he’s buds with a lot of the trial captains so them too. Meets the Johto gang through Al and I see him getting along w/ Heroverse!Lyra.

OTP: Gladion. Was a huge Haudion shipper back in the day and still think it’s cute :] I can also get behind Hau x Elio

Random headcanon: Saw a comic where he has an insane spar with Tapu Koko and I’ve adopted that into my belief system

Unpopular opinion: I’ve always been a lot more endeared to him as a rival than Gladion? Not that Gladion’s bad. When I was a kid, I got really absorbed into Pokémon games, so I was always matching Hau’s energy and thought Gladion was kind of a pill. I also just think it’s a reoccurring theme for me to get more attached to the best friend character in Pokémon games.
