You’re set in your ways. You like what you like and you dislike what you dislike, and that’s absolutely fine. Maybe you’ll have similar likes and dislikes to people around you, and maybe you won’t. And that’s fine too. You’re your own person. You have your own mind and your own preferences. Never let anyone try and change that about you. Never let anyone try and change what’s unique about you.

That familiar ache claws and tightens at your chest. It controls your body and your mind. It tells your mind with such urgency that you can’t breathe, and your mind falls for it every time. Your mind begins to panic, your chest gets tighter and tighter. But your mind is stronger than a panic attack. At the end of the day your mind calls the shots. It’s all in your head, say it. It’s all in your head. And breathe. And breathe again. And keep breathing slowly, in and out, while telling yourself that you’re okay, and then you will be.

One of the worst things in the world is when you feel so many different emotions at once and it becomes extremely overwhelming. So much so that it physically exhausts you. When you’re feeling everything from doubt to sadness and emptiness and back again and the worst part of it all is you don’t even know why. It’s one of those fleeting moments that passes you by without any explanation and there’s nothing you can do about it. One of these times I’d like an explanation.

Dismissing feelings is an incredibly hard thing to do. No matter how hard you try to push that thing out of your mind, it still hovers underneath the surface. So you can go days, months or even years without addressing that feeling inside of you, but it will slowly eat away at you if you do. As hard as it may be, you need to face that fear inside of you. You might not feel like it but you are stronger than your fears. Once you put a face on that fear it becomes easier to handle. It becomes easier to fight. And then one day, it no longer becomes an obstacle. You just have to keep digging until you find the courage to do so, and you will.

Those dreams you have at 4am that stick with you when you wake up the next morning? Write them down. Maybe they don’t make much sense to you now, but in due time everything will piece together and add up to a beautiful story that your mind created.
