First of all, I want to say that I prefer this character in the original Japanese version, meaning "Goddess Gorgon," at least in terms of portrayal. Generally speaking, I've never been a big Power Rangers fan...yet, ironically, I AM a fan of Super Sentai, the original Japanese forms of the show. This instance is no exception. Having said that, I'm going to refer to the character as "Serpentina," her name from the English/Power Rangers version, for two reasons: one, it's a catchier name, let's face it. :P Two, it's probably the name more people on my page are likely to recognize her by, I feel. So even though I prefer the Japanese rendition, I'll be referring to her by her English name. "Get it? Got it. Good." Having stated all that...Serpentina is an oddity for pred crushes for me, for two reasons. One, she's from live-action, and that's usually not a medium I like. However, I think the costume and makeup here helps to make things more excusable for me; a little bit like another Toku/Power Rangers pred crush of mine, the Terror Toad. 'Nuff said there, so here's the second reason: she's a she. I'm usually more partial to male preds, as I've said more than once in the past. Yes, there are some female characters I like, but not nearly as many as the males. Serpentina, however, is definitely a good'un. This monster lady is based on Medusa from Greek Mythology, and has the power to turn people into stone. (It doesn't work the same way as Medusa, perhaps thankfully, but it's still a thing.) More importantly, however, she can transform into a giant snake (or even just a half-snake naga form), and swallow her enemies whole. She seems to have some sort of hammerspace thing going on, since even after devouring four people, whole and alive, her belly shows no clear sign of bloating. The plot revolves largely around this wicked gal devouring most of the Rangers, with the last survivors having to fight and find a way to free their comrades from her stomach...or else be eaten too. Not only is the plot of this episode (in either format) great for vore-lovers, but the imagery and dialogue in both renditions just cements it. In the Japanese version, she has a bit where she actually offers her prey a chance to decide if she should swallow them head or feetfirst: that sounds like something I'd have one of my preds do in a story in a nutshell. We get POV shots of her devouring her prey, lots of teasing, and a scene of her swallowing one of the rangers with a nice, big bulge descending her gullet with a loud gulp. Basically, we get the works. It's hard for even somebody like me NOT to fall in love with this snakey girl. However, I've never really done anything with this character, and I'm not sure how much I would WANT to do with her. As a result, I'm ranking her fairly low...but I wouldn't mind doing at least one story with her, sometime down the line.
