Don’t make fun of your elders for their lack of ability to use screen technology, take the device (phone, computer, laptop, tablet, tv) and make the text bigger for them. Look into the accessibility settings and see if you can short cut certain things that would make their life easier, like the settings access or volume.

I’ve done this for like every older person I’ve ever met and their faces when they can actually see the screen was priceless. The difference in their ability to use the device was huge.

On Windows, Start > Settings > Ease of Access

There are settings to turn on things like an on screen narrator, a magnifier window, and high contrast mode.

Honestly though my main point would have to be have you ever heard this guy talk? He could sell the devil fire with that voice 😍

My problem is that he could have, with the Infinity Gauntlet, done literally anything. He could have made people more compassionate. He could have created infinite, clean energy, he could have made it so beings don’t require food, he could have given activists and humanitarians superpowers, he could have done a billion other things, and he just…kills people?

He’s not even internally consistent. The Asgardians, having just undergone a mass extinction event, were all killed. He didn’t revive half of the killed population of Asgard, he didn’t even kill half of the survivors. He just killed everyone aboard the ship. So, what gives??

We also know that his “killing half the world” thing doesn’t always work. In fact, in the one example of a world which had previously been savaged by Thanos and the population halved, it led to the extinction of the planet. We know he executed half of the population of Gamora’s home planet. We also know that Gamora is the last living being from her species. In canon, relying on the movies, Thanos didn’t even check to see if killing half the population is even effective, he just assumed it works and people are better for it. Leaving aside the trauma of losing so many and the societal collapse which follows, it didn’t even work (in the one canon example we’ve got, which, while not a reliable sample size, is all we’ve got, and c’mon, they gave us that and just that for a reason), and his grape ass didn’t bother checking up on them.

They tried to hard to make him “reasonable”, imo. I much prefer his comics motivation–killing all life to woo Lady Death–to this psuedo humanitarian motive. They could have given us such good shots and monologues of his obsession and love, he could even have been a sympathetic character. Just imagine Brolin talking about his sacrifices and gifts to his Lady Love, about giving her the whole universe and beyond, instead of,,,,this.

This is totally true, and I might be making it too abstract, but at least for the convention of story telling there can’t be an omniscient “God” answer; I feel that by allowing Thanos at any point to actually employ the full power of the infinity stone to rewrite and recalculate reality would basically just wipe the story off the map because it’s like *snap* there story fixed (lame reference intended 😜)

This is a new point to me entirely, and I hadn’t even considered the detriment of populations across fathomless universes that have undoubtedly faced the same sort of holocaustic/genocidal hurdles. This is a terrible idea in regard to very real and even canonical events in the marvel universe. Just. Damn. I didn’t even think about this one.

3. Again, I didn’t even think about this data set. We have real life evidence of losing large populations and as a result large portions of society collapsing. Essentially any epidemic and pandemic has resulted in these kinds of societal and cultural collapse or upheaval simply due to population destabilization. We also know from both World Wars what wiping out an entire demographic of people can do. Ireland still hasn’t recovered in a lot of ways from the potato famine. I could go on, and on and on. Like damn we a plethora have real world examples of why this doesn’t work.

4. It worked! At least for me. It sounded reasonable before I’d been presented with facts outside of the resource argument (which I don’t think I’ll ever fully agree with, though I can see the rationality behind it). I would have absolutely loved to see him pining over Lady Death; and personally I was too a little let down. I was appeased by the movie’s emphasis on his relationship with Gamora, however. They took a long time to get into the meat of it, and outside of being a sacrifice she didn’t affect his arc very much but I really appreciated such a graphic and real illustration from such a big movie on how abusive families work. They totally went into the dark and fucked up, they didn’t try to hide or excuse the part of these relationships that are the hardest; I was impressed with it being such a fully canvased idea.

-while I recognize the right and wrong of choices and actions Sejanus got on my nerves and I don’t blame Snow for disliking him. He was constantly doing shit without regard to how his actions could negatively impact or pull other people into unwanted scenarios

-Tigris deserved so much better

-the dean was a cunt. Like a second Snape, honestly. If he’s wanted to right some wrongs he could have mentored Snow and nurtured goodness into him, the same way he looked after sejanus or even Lucy Gray. Obviously Snow is 100% responsible for his choices and the man he would become, but it’s not like adults were just handing out good parenting Willy nilly either

-I loved how straightforward about killing a lot of the characters were. There was some ruminations on it, but for the most part I feel like they’re instincts were accurate for a people who were collectively and constantly trying to survive
