Love this very underrated album

listening to how do you sleep rn and it's so fucking gay like imagine your former bandmate/best friend/ex-boyfriend writing a diss track about you and he's like "oh you're pretty by the way" like??? okay john can you stop being gay for like 5 minutes thanks dude

thinking about how paul wrote "call me back again" in 1975 which is Quite Clearly about john. and then in 1977 we have john's "real life" demos which include the line "just call him on the phone". holy fuck i'm sick. why didn't they just communicate

it is so annoying when people say paul mccartney is fanservicing the shippers about john with how often he brings him up in his interviews and art and how he wouldn't if john was alive and it's like, yeahhh. if john was alive they'd be best buddies, or slightly estranged ones, or mutually antagonistic again and paul wouldn't have any reasons to still write yearning longing emotional songs about him but the point is that john is not alive. paul had known john for 23 years; he's been mourning him for 46. and not only john is not alive but he was also murdered, after a couple of years of them being on bad terms and a decade of half-estrangement which got paul convinced for a long minute that maybe he was actually the villain as the media made him out to be and him and john never had any affection for each other. it took him so long to believe again that he and john loved each other, so leave the old man alive if he wants to keep revisiting the rose-tinted memory of his best friend to keep the most peaceful mindset he can keep about their history and how he was taken
