Before I knew about Lucanis, while playing Inquisition, I created a character and developed his story in my mind. This character became the basis for my Rook”The Wasp" in The Veilguard. He fights by allowing a wild spirit to possess his body. He is missing one arm; normally, he fights using only a dagger in his right hand, but when possessed, his left arm manifests, allowing him to fight with dual blades. Initially, he struggled to control the possessing spirit's power and would injure himself in the process, but thanks to the advice and training of Solas, Dorian, and The Iron Bull, he gradually gained control. (He was named "The Wasp" by The Iron Bull.)
There are two things to keep in mind when calling a spirit. First, one must not allow a spirit that lacks the will to fight to possess the body during combat; this is to prevent the spirit from transforming into a demon. Second, one must not summon a spirit that has already become a demon. As you likely know, this is dangerous because controlling a demonic spirit is extremely difficult. Outside of combat, he can allow a healing spirit to possess him, enabling him to heal himself or others (though he finds this difficult to do). Beyond his possession abilities, he possesses other traits. For one, he can converse with spirits present in the physical world. While ordinary people can sometimes speak with spirits, he can communicate with them much more clearly—much like how Lucanis speaks with the Demon of Malice. Furthermore, only when possessed by a spirit can he physically enter the Fade; in other words, he can travel back and forth between the Fade and the real world. Consequently, in the Inquisition story I envisioned, he serves as a key much like the Inquisitor.
While this ability is incredibly powerful and seemingly useful, it carries various risks. For starters, the constant threat of possession makes it impossible for him to sleep soundly; he is limited to brief, shallow naps, leaving him with perpetual dark circles under his eyes. He can only fall into a deep sleep if someone is by his side, keeping watch to ensure he isn't possessed. The second factor is pain; his body is occasionally wracked with agony caused by the lyrium within him—the source of his possession abilities—and the red lyrium in his right eye. When the pain becomes severe, sleeping is out of the question; he sometimes even resorts to "nourishing acts" just to distract himself from the suffering. This behavior often caused problems, eventually leading Vivienne to prescribe him a potent paralytic toxin. The physical signs associated with this resembled the symptoms of lyrium addiction seen in the Templar Order, which played a role in convincing Cullen to give up lyrium.
I wasn't very familiar with the *Dragon Age* lore when I first conceived this story, so I had doubts about whether such a concept was actually feasible; however, meeting Lucanis—and realizing the development team shared the same idea—made me incredibly happy. Lucanis has become one of my favorite characters, and I look forward to adventuring with him.

精霊を呼ぶ時に気をつけるべきことは2つあります。1つは、戦う意志のない精霊を戦闘時に憑依させないことです。これは、憑依した精霊が悪魔にならないようにするためです。2つ目は、悪魔化した精霊を呼ばないことです。この危険性はみなさんご存知でしょうが、悪魔化した精霊のコントロールはとても難しいからです。戦闘以外では、治癒に役立つ精霊を憑依させることができ、自分自身や他人を癒すこともできます。（ただし、これは彼には難しいです。）憑依能力の他にも、彼には特性があります。まず、現実世界にいる精霊と話すことができます。普通の人々も精霊と話すことができる時がありますが、彼の場合はより、はっきりと、まさにルカニスが悪意の悪魔と話すときのように会話ができます。されに、精霊に憑依されている時のみ肉体ごとフェイドに行くことができます。つまり、フェイドと現実世界を行き来できます。なので、私が考えていたINQUISITIONの物語は審問官と同様に彼はキーパーソンです。

私はこの物語を考えた時はDragon Ageの世界観をよく知らなかったので、このような設定が本当に可能なのか訝しんでいましたが、Lucanisに出会い、同じ考えを制作チームがしていたことがとても嬉しかったです。Lucaはとてもお気に入りのキャラクターになったので、これから彼と冒険することが楽しみです。
