shinsengumi sausages & mimawarigumi doughnuts
If there was one thing that would always remain the same wherever she went, it was doughnuts. Usually it was what Isaburo would use to bribe her but when he wasn’t around, she had no problem finding it herself. At least Nobume could spare some time enjoying the delicious dough confectionery by herself. Undisturbed. Well, as long as no one was around that recognized her, it was all good. As long as no one tried to snatch away her doughnut, everything would be great as well.
Yes, this day would have been peaceful if it wasn’t for that familiar face that popped up when she was skipping her class on the top of the school roof. Good thing he advanced with a greeting because she wasn’t quite finished with her doughnut. Swallowing the remainder of the food, she wiped her mouth clean before speaking up, replying to his greeting.Â
“… Your eyes…. are as still the eyes of a killer.” A small pause, as Nobume tried to recall his name. His face… with a name. Ah, that’s right. The face of Okita Sougo, the captain of the first division of the Shinsengumi. It was hard to forget the way that sadistic smile. Though she really didn’t feel like expressing that realization. Nobume wasn’t exactly talkative. She was the complete opposite of that. The only way she learned how to express her feelings was through fighting… and killing even. Unfortunately, as much as she wanted to make him suffer, and as much as she wanted to stab through that *** of his, she left all her weapons back in her dorm room. It was hard to hide weapons under this inconvenient uniform.
No more words left her mouth. How dare he disturb her peaceful time alone. Well, it wasn’t like she minded it that much, now that she finished her food.
Her blank eyed stared as Nobume sort of stretched her body before she squatted down. That movement did seem rather pointless, though that impression only remained for less than two seconds. Without any warning, she threw at least four stone pebbles, which seemed pretty much as if they were coming out of nowhere at high speed. Who said samurais can’t fight with a sword?
"This is not how you receive a compliment," and he quickly jumped to his side to avoid the stones. Had to catch one in his hand, though. Can't have that bishounen face get damaged, or else the host club wouldn't deal with his shit anymore.
Sougo was still as playful as ever, although the smile had left his face. Throwing the pebble in the air and catching it again, he spoke, "Your eyes haven't changed either."
Nobody in the special police forces, either in Edo or in Kyoto, actually hoped for them to change. The ones who took out hundreds of soldiers, all by themselves. And those quiet, expressionless, red eyes proved it. They were childish and demanding in their own ways, but everyone knew that the strength of the police depended a lot on them.
Sadly they couldn't clash swords, but at least he wasn't sleepy anymore.
"So, what are you doing up here all by yourself, school girl?" he provoked, fully aware that she might just throw more dirt on his direction, "You're already skipping class anyway, and as I'm part of the disciplinary commitee, you'd better behave when I'm around, Imai Nobume-kun."
His eyes glinted with sadism.
"Are you asking for punishment? Is that so?"
Yep, she'd probably throw more stones.
